I need to fabricate a gas tank for electric generator. The material that I will be using is 11 ga mild steel. What do I need to know to keep the inside of tank from corrosion.

@@theessexhunter1305 I've run a similar machine. Retired now. why be so negative about equipment that built this world. We can't really afford to live in a world operating from a keyboard. Its going to catch up to us.

What is the concern of stainless with aluminum? The two don't touch...except for maybe the screws but, it's stainless. Do you think the two metals would react?
You dont make marine fuel tanks in 1/8" alum...Should be 3/16" Min Coast gaurd wants 1/4" thick 100 gallons or more I will do 3/16" if less than 175 gallons and not a coast gaurd inspected vessel
Great looking tank but you should care a little for your workers.... Tig with T-shirts and exposing their skin to harmful UV. Spot weld without wearing welding helmet... people are exposing their skins and eyes to harmful Ultraviolet rays :(
Yes EXACTLY!!! And this guys talking about oxidation in the weld. Aluminum doesnt OXIDIZE. Only way you have a problem is if you overheat and cook the aluminum. This guy is an idiot.
Marvelous craftsmanship ! I learned a lot from the is video of what to look for in a quality fuel tank. Thank you for posting this video fellas.
Excellent documentary. Learned a thing or two for my custom project
what a great and detailed explanation of marine tank fabrication.
Thanks
Thanks men for your video. Really good stuff
11:51 you have never ran a push / pull wire feed made just for aluminum.. They are amazing and a whole lot faster than TIG only..
They look very professional
Some good fabrication just would like to see some PPE (gloves, eye protection sleeves etc....)
And actually a hood on to make tacks!
Guys done very good job.
Thanks for posting the video. What alloy of aluminum was used to make the tank?
Those guys have good skills
Wow was this filmed in the 1950 s . This was before
cordless tools.
No safety gloves?
sheet metal and no gloves, my hands would be all cat up, but they are doing quality work
Excellent work, I wonder though how many baffles did you install inside this 120 gal?
do thay delivery to Canada?
Great video..!
Has to be a bit more than 120 gallons that tank.
What grade of aluminum?
pretty neat.
What type of Aluminum 5052? looks like 6mm thick?
You never got an answer.
My best guess is 5052 or 6061.
Name and model number pls of fuel sender?, I want one like that for my custom fuel tank for my dinghy.
Nice job! I wonder do they sell materials and/or machine it to a customer's specs? I plan on fabricating a new 125 gal gas tank for my Grady.
Hello thanks for the video! How much you paid for that fuel tank?
that size its about 2,500 - 3,000$

Hey What State are they Locared. I'm in Orlando, CDC an you referred me to a Company down here. Thanks
Seems a bit slap happy to me.
I'm sure your client appreciates your greasy hand running down the joint about to be welded.
What a dangerous press brake..........
Yup a lot of people see stars when they run a mechanical brake..
They cost thousands not hundreds of thousands or millions. Could never afford the one-off tank with all nee equipment.
@@thewayidoit8895 Is it your workshop ?
Or are you just the spokes person for a dangerous piece of kit?

SUBBED!!!!
They could have has this done in half the time just by simply using a spool gun instead of tig.
Stainless steel Fuel Gauge and a Beer can TANK ? hmmmm

Avenue Welding not to mention EPA/CARB rules

They work fast but very unsafe work practices
edge to edge= outside corner ( joint)
why not use STAINLESS ? it dont rot,Fuel Tanks can be deadly made of CHeap BEER CAN Material
Because it is for a boat and stainless I is heavy, aluminum does not rust either and it is a lot easier to work with
''alloys'' dude......not beer can material
Aluminum corrodes in a salt environment. My Albin 27 tank leaked, it's aluminum, I'm going nuts finding a good replacement.
@@Jorisinflorida Correct, aluminum truck beds gets a clear coat but after it's gone AL oxidizes and turn black when exposed to road salts..
i know its 7 yrs old comment but stainless steel and aluminum is a big difference in weight if you hold both pieces together in each hand.
Marine fuel tank... stainless is the better option...
