    These small appliances only use 420 watts and are great for cooking in small spaces. They are great for RV cooking, van cooking, car cooking, dorm cooking, hotel room cooking, office cooking, etc. They are small, portable, and light weight so they are easy to travel with. They are also excellent prepping gear. Since they only use 420 watts and cook very fast, they can be easily run off of a generator or solar power station.

    Try leaving the top open - so the moisture evaporates - works like a charm. Lightly grease to lower pan 🙋🏻‍♀️👏🏻🇦🇺

    Maybe soaking up the liquid with paper towels during cooking will help with browning the meat. Thanks for another interesting video.

    Another good test! I bought my Egg Bite Maker after watching your video, showing the larger and deeper heating surface in comparison to the Dash Mini Griddle. I have the Mini Griddle and the Mini Grill, but prefer the versatility of the Egg Bite Maker the most, especially the deeper welled bottom. It was on clearance at Home Goods for $12 USD. On the bottom, it indicates 420 watts, and that it was made in China.
    I've used butter to coat the bottom heating surface, and have seared/browned hamburgers and even small steaks without any issues. I keep the top open, and use a silicon turner to press and flip the food. I'm guessing that by keeping the lid open, the heating element doesn't cycle off as much as it would if the lid was closed. The additional time at the higher heat along with the butter coating may make a difference in being able to sear/brown a burger or steak. That's been my experience thus far.

      I will try that. Maybe since yours is made in China, it’s built a little different. Thanks for the info!

    Wow! Thanks so much for actually taking the time to put a surface thermometer on the hot plates to give us accurate temperatures since none of them say how hot they get. I, somehow, missed the video you did with the temps. Very very helpful for me since I’m using the mini appliances, almost exclusively.👍

    I think you need to get rid of the liquid while it's cooking in order to get it more browned. The liquid is the water that would normally steam away but can't with the lid closed on this appliance (the mini griddle doesn't "SNAP" closed so steam does escape). I'd like to see you take another stab at this but remove the water while it's cooking (sop up with paper towels or lift the burger out and pour the water off).

    • @CounterCooking
      @CounterCooking  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Perhaps you can try that in your egg bite maker and report back on how it came out.

    • @wrylife57
      @wrylife57 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@CounterCooking I tried it tonight. I cooked the burger about 6 mins and, when it was ready to turn, I sopped up most of the liquid with paper towels (3 half sheets) then flipped and cooked the other side. A little more water came out (or, again, it was steam that could not escape) but I am happy with the result. FYI, before making the burger I used the same cooker to make egg yolk bread, which I split in half horizontally, so had a yummy cheeseburger on a "bun" all cooked in the Dash mini--and zero carbs! Too bad I can't post a pic of it here. :)

      @@wrylife57 That sounds great. How do you make egg yolk bread?

    • @wrylife57
      @wrylife57 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CounterCooking OMG egg yolk bread--it's my new obsession and super easy! The recipe: 4 egg yolks, 1 T melted butter; pinch of salt; 1/2 t baking powder. I found it on Carnivore's Angel TH-cam channel, episode #157. She made waffles and they're great that way, so much better than chaffles, imo. They have the texture and chew of real bread. I made them as waffles but also in the Dash mini griddle and, as mentioned, in the mini egg-bite maker. I liked that since they look like a slice of bread. Don't worry, I also use the egg whites later to make crepes/wraps according to Indigo Nili's method (can't find that video right now).

    Because of the water the burger is steaming. Pour off the water a couple of times during the cooking process and it will brown.

  • @laurasmith7976
    @laurasmith7976 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You need to dump the water out of the cooker, and cook the hamburgers more, and then they do taste like hamburgers from a stove top.🍔🍔 They do come out brown if you keep them in longer.

  • @jennifercline6866
    @jennifercline6866 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    It doesn't make the best seared burger but does cook it. I drain liquid off and let it go a bit more, then add a piece of cheese and still tastes ok if seasoned.

    it's a boiled burger patty. so, i guess it's not creating enough heat to evaporate the liquids.

  • @joannnash847
    @joannnash847 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    So my thoughts on this is it was intended to make egg bites using the silicone cups with water added to the machine. If it got as hot as the griddle the water would evaporate to quickly. I love the mini griddle for fried eggs but I love the egg bite maker for making scrambled eggs. I don not like my scrambled eggs to brown at all so it perfect.

    I wonder if you left the top open and just accepted that the bottom was your griddle if it would not produce and trap so much juice. This makes sense if you’re camping and that’s the only cooking tool you want to bring. Otherwise I’d like to see it compared to the dash griddle.

    Thanks for the video! I have both the Egg Bite Maker and Mini Griddle and tried making a burger in each. I found the griddle to be much faster and hotter than then this Egg Bite Maker which is a bummer. I found this square shape and size to be more versatile but I see how it's designed to work with steam to cook egg bites. I opened up both the griddle and Egg bite and checked the cutoff switch and saw the problem. The griddle has a 160°C cut-off switch and the Egg bite has 165°C but the egg bite has a bigger surface area of 5"x5" which is 25 square inches vs the griddle 4" round giving it 12.5 Square inches. Basically, the egg bite maker only heats up about half the amount of the griddle. To equal the same amount of heat I would need a 300°C cut-off switch, which the egg bite is not really designed for, so I will try a 200°C first which will give it 30% more heat. I'll report back.

      Just a quick follow up. I got the new thermo switch on Amazon yesterday and replaced it (not too difficult, 4 screws and soldering skills needed). Overall with the 200C thermo switch it seared it more but still not as hot as the mini griddle. Compared to the mini griddle the burger still cooked slower and shrank down, I still recommend the mini griddle over this for versatility. A 300C switch would get it to where it needs to be but I don’t know how this product will handle it. I’ll shelve that idea for another day.

    Mini Dash Egg Bite Maker only have temperature control on the top side, if the topside temperature reaches the high limit, then both side power will be shutoff. The food stuff completely contacts both sides will be cooked efficiently, else the top reach high temperature, but bottom not cooked well.

    And ON YOUR HAMBURGER 🍔
    THEN PUT IT BACK ON
    THE MINI EGG LEFT OPEN
    And PRESS DOWNWARD ON

    IT UP.
    PLUS GET MORE GREASE OUT‼️😮
