I like how Vai still uses his discontinued gear, he still stands by them (ie. the Legacy and Gemini). I have a Legacy cab, wish I was able to buy a head while they were available. Lots of artists put their name on a piece of a gear, and when it's discontinued or the contracts up, you never see them with it again.

I have a spark amp, a Paul's guitar SE, an Evo headphones with Evo Microphone and mic stand setup and Studio One 5 software for recording. My point, I spend allot of time with my basic setup so I can imagine the kind of time I would dedicate to creating and experimenting with music if I had that kind of setup Steve has. What a luxury that must be. Love you Steve.

I’m confused. What’s the point of the Fractal if he doesn’t like modeling and AD/DA? Is it just to split the signal to stereo before he goes into the Legacy power amps and then cabinets? I thought the whole point of the Fractal was modeling.

In Leo Gibson's latency test video, the BOSS GT-1000 had the lowest latency of multiple modelers (sound quality aside) including the FM3. I wonder if the Axe FX III has lower latency than the FM3, because FM3 was fairly high. But Steve says he can't feel it with the rack unit.

    • @mixodorians12
      @mixodorians12 2 ปีที่แล้ว

He doesn't really care about latency, he just doesn't want to use modelling as he gets massive kickbacks from amp manufacturers.
He will never use modellers. He has self serving contempt for them.
I have the GT1000core and a Helix LT and I love them.
Cannot feel any latency, just good times and great sound.

That dunlop wah pedal doesn't work by itself.
It requires the dunlop rotovibe pedal to fully convert the signal to the official vintage dunlop sound.
Whenever I've seen a Vai product offered for sale over the years, I've always known Steve isn't loyal to this FULL setup.
So I've bet its a total waste of time buying into that brand.
Carvin. Seemed to steve, a nice idea at the time.
To the potential customers, it seemed like a company about to fail, and they did.
No middleman would seriously consider stocking Vai amps.
The middlemen have ruined this industry.

Steve uses 2 mics basicly (in front of cabs), 2 mics behind the cabs and 2 mics for space. 6 mics basicly for stereo. Other 8 mics optionally. Steve blends its for more naturally sound. I use similar technology for my records, but i use mono system. I use 7 mics for my rig. It sounds awesome. It's not silly.

Love Steve Vai, know he has to pay the bills, but wnen he is just in Sales guy mode he just becomes the perfect sell out.
His message is always the same.
Buy Synergy, Buy Fractal, Modelling is bad, spend 50 grand on your rig, don't use 70% of it for modelling, buy my amp instead.
Oh and spend 1.3 million quid on a recording studio.
I mean, I am sure Satriani recorded lots of his last two albums on his computer in his bedroom, with some free software.
