there is good money in reselling riding lawn mowers i picked up a john deer LT155 for $175 fixed hood and fixed carrb then had $225 into it ---put it for sale for $525 it sold in a hour for full asking price and had over 22 calls

You should look for an older SXS like a rzr 800 or 900
Also buy a Solenoid most of the time after the years of sitting they go bad and it won’t give power to the starter or the key

If the old owner hit a chain with the blades, its possible that the blades and/or the blade shaft will be bent
Kohler is a very good brand, we have one in our lawn mower, it stil starts everytime

Just wondering do you know that you have to be sitting on that for it to start... When using that switch...
nonsense the seat switch is easily defeated
There might be a inline fuse as well for the switch.
If it as for 10 years the belts probably won't last long
To be able to start a lawn tractor without you sitting on it, it has to have the parking brake engaged the PTO disengaged. If not the start switch will not work. All of these machines have safety devices to make sure that it doesn't decide to turn on while you have your hand in the deck area or something. Or a child does get a hold of the tractor and start it up by mistake.
yes i disabled/bypassed all the switches before trying to start it
@@2vintage did you try changing the key switch? They are cheap.
You should get a signal as long as pto is disengaged and brake/clutch is locked into parking regardless if seat is up or down.
If all else fails just remove all safety switches and put just a regular ignition switch.
These machines are very basic and don't really need all of the extra wires to run.

That switch is not the problem those never go bad your problem is the solenoid
switches do go bad they can become corroded easily in just a couple of years

Its hydrostatic wouldn't make a good racing mower without alot of work
Those transmissions are very weak and problematic! Standard shift for performance for sure!
@@wd-40everything65 nonsense they are really strong, amd as for racing mower they would not take any work they are rated for 3 times the power that the kohler engine makes

Those Kohler commands are fantastic little engines the kohler courage are junk stay away from those easy way to start them is to unplug the engine from the wiring harness and put power straight to the starter.....FYI don't run it long without that top shroud it will blow a head gasket just like any other engine
Non serviceable hydro trans may be the weak spot they are rated at 500 hrs and not very durable compared to earlier counterparts!
they are not junk but are better than the briggs and straton motors

Kohler makes the best engines for lawn mowers and they are also the easiest to work on i have a lot of tips on my channel for them as i work on them a lot

For the future just so you know , You can go find of these Riding lawnmowers for free all day long... He should have paid you to take that... He would have had to pay to get rid of it no matter what..

Once you find out it has spark why would you not get right into a carb clean and actually using the fuel tank. A oil change before running it much wouldn’t be a bad idea... maybe that just makes too much sense though.

Murray's are junk basically. They are made cheap. Throw away mowers. That's why so many are tossed for scrap. They are the bottom feeder of lawn tractors. They do make great toys once the mowers turn to garbage. The quality of steel is poor at best compared to other lawn tractors. Most of the components. Bushings. Belt sheaves. Junk👍👍👍 it's easy to upgrade a Murray. Its all up from where they start. If they start. Lol.
murrays are well made, as good as john deers craftsman and and any other
Well each his own but the simple low cost repair on them has made them worth keeping now 😊😊😊
