One of my favorite part about DS9 is that for once we see why the klingons are a fiersome speices to have in a conflict. while the moral of everyone is downing with the constant updating of the casualty list, you can see the klingon's moral going up as time goes. you see them coming back from battle chanting and cheering everyone happy that it was a blood bath with tons of great warriors entering sto-vo-kor.
When you got to the Klingon section, I’m surprised you missed the obvious speciality of the species. From all that was mentioned about how they acquire their technology, the Klingons seem to be specialists in reverse engineering. Even when encountering tech far more advance then their own, the Klingons seem to easily be able to reverse engineer, understand, and recreate the technology whether it be their warp drives to Romulan cloaking technology and etc. Perhaps I’m looking too deeply into it but goes to show how the Klingons are unique in terms of innovation.
I'd say the Klingons are highly adaptable to hardships; if that hardship happens to occur through battle, all the better. They can repurpose and adapt recovered tech. While humans are equally adaptable but more in line with problem solving and developing or modifying existing tech to get them out of a bind.
I think that is one of Klingons greatest strengths: tenacity and wisdom. They can literally be enslaved by a technologically more advanced species and in rebelling not only fling them off their planet and chase them to the stars but also make it as they are never heard from again in that sector of space. Kingpins are hardy and they take a beating and an old Klingon is often a wise Klingon because they can take the lumps and keep going. And theirs is a history of such individuals thousands of years old. They are unafraid to try and seize opportunities and that gives them an edge over more cautious (Vulcan) or fragile (humans) species .

so this video did the alpha and beta quadrants. Part two should be about the Delta and Gamma quadrants. For example one very good species to do would be the Vidiians and they're extremely superior medical technology, which can be used both as a weapon and as a sophisticated tool for medical treatment. Another one would be the Voth, with their distaste for endotherm's and they're highly sophisticated personal cell technology which allowed them to observe Voyager at least for a while without being detected. The Vodwar might be another good delta species to cover.
Ferengi might have some interesting warp abilities. They have an extremely low species designation, meaning they encountered them very very early. Now even if they discovered a wormhole, it still means they were out there exploring.
The stand-out oversight in this video was the Ferengi, given how they were also introduced in TNG but got their biggest cultural exploration in DS9 and they're a more widespread species than the Bajorans and they're a power in their own right they could have been included quite easily.

Yes, do more videos along this line. I thought the fact you brought out about the Klingon tacticians was most insightful! So yes, do as many as you can think of, like the Ferengi most likely could optimize many aspects of any business, i.e. they would make for great accountants, and possibly great Project Managers.
Well the Ferengi are actually quite impressive technologically once they put their minds into it. It was a Ferengi that invented Multi-Phasic shields. Self replicating mines was an afterthought of Rom. There is also the disabling wave tech the Marauders were equipped with. During wartime where resources were scarce Nog was a logistics genius. I imagine Admiralty would want to adopt him for it.
I've always pictured Klingons using simple, but effective methods. Similar to US vs Russian naval doctrine and ship design - multi-purpose vessels built of a range of effective roles vs "carry a bunch of really big anti-ship missiles"
Makes sense; TOS was made during the Cold War, and the Klingons fit the common perception of the Soviets (or at least the one the western governments wanted people to have) I.E. Dangerous barbarians that could strike at any moment.
Klingons are also master shipbuilders as their vessels were almost immune to the Breen energy drain weapon that crippled the Federation and Romulan fleets.
I think encryption by that time would just be use of one time pads for everything of any importance. It’s probably unbreakable, which makes anything else very silly to use.
A video that I would like to see is one that shows what happens to the other races that have been conquered by the militarist based races such as the Kligons and Romulions. We never really here anything regarding the peoples of the conquered worlds.
In TNG Romulan tech was generally thought to be better than Starfleet equivalents. For example, when the Romulans built a quick copy of a Starfleet phaser rifle, the crew of the Enterprise figured out it was a fake because it was too efficient.
I would assign communication to the UFP as well. They have a huge area and need powerful and reliable communication technology to keep it organized. The Romulans are Security and Espionage. Only the Founders, Garak and maybe Section 31 managed to fool them occasionally.
I view the Klingons similar to Vulcans when it comes to their development. Klingons and Vulcans were both way out ahead of humans early on, but Vulcans slowed to focus on other things, and I suspect that Klingons slowed because they wanted to all be warriors. I suspect that earlier on Klingon society was more diverse, and slightly less war like.
Honestly the klingons would likely produce very good mercenaries, it'd be one of the few ways klingons could have 'honorable' combat in times of peace. I.e. if there aren't any wars at the time klingon officers could be rented out by the KDF to keep their talents sharp.

I quite like the idea of a fantasy ship's crew (like fantasy football teams) video. Perhaps a ship design, as well?
I wonder if they will expand on the Cytherians and their tech eventually.
In DS9, Federation engineers were hyperbolically referred to as being able to make replicators from stones.
I believe the line is rocks into replicators
@@spartan078ben That sounds right. It's been a while since I saw it.
Just one ship and just by fluke beause their engine was altered by mistake to be immune
That is a hell of a crew captain.
I admire your guesswork on Trek lore and salute you sir lol.
Stay well out there everybody, and God bless you friends. :)
I'm all for a second video, focusing on some of the secondary species.
The Breen would be good at offensive weaponry, except in the case of Klingon ships that is.
tracker beams, transporter and defensive shields, etc.
Are the Ferengi particularly adept in holograms and translators canonically, or is that an idea that got stuck in my head somewhere on its own?
Good content idea Rick, how about Changeling's and Andorian's.
Only the Founders, Garak and maybe Section 31 managed to fool them occasionally.
the UFP being exploration angled does make sense as I am sure Gene wanted them to basically be NASA but with FTL travel.
Andorians, Ferangi would be cool for part 2
The Gorn would be interesting.
Honestly the klingons would likely produce very good mercenaries, it'd be one of the few ways klingons could have 'honorable' combat in times of peace.
I.e. if there aren't any wars at the time klingon officers could be rented out by the KDF to keep their talents sharp.
Interesting video :).
