I’m generally not the biggest fan of crisis management, and Leacock in particular is pretty hit or miss for me, but you’re right I should at least give it a try!

I learned that, ironically, I'm close to Mike in tastes - with some exceptions (Ie, I like Marvel United more, I like Marvel Champions more than Arkham Horror LCG though I love both). I found myself slowly, progressively agreeing with each consecutive list more and more, heh. I've also heard that Massive Darkness 2 is supposedly fun in standalone mode, and that only the campaign mode is bad, but I can't personally attest to that as I've never played it.

Cool idea. I’m not familiar with meet me at the table but I need to check them out as I think my opinions align with yours very often, more often than any other TH-camr so their lists also look pretty good to me. Spirit Island, Through the Ages (digital only though tbph), Aeon’s End, ATO, Eclipse, Carcassonne, and Agricola would be top 10 contenders for me. Haven’t really ever put one together.

I did an abbreviated matching system where I just counted how many of my 8s, 9s, and 10s made everyone’s lists, and I was a bit surprised by the results. Jeremy is my strongest match, and Meg, Jarrod, and Paul are in a 3-way tie for second. Also, this video has shown me that I really need to try Too Many Bones.

A 7 by the BGG scale means “good game, usually willing to play”, which is a pretty high rating by my standards. While a 5 is “average, take it or leave it”. I think a 5 is much more fair for something I’ve never played and haven’t made a big effort to try
@@OneStopCoopShop If you hadn't played the games because like everybody did hide some random games from you then the average of them should be close to the average of all you played - but I guess it's more like you didn't play (avoided) some/all of the games not on purpose, so 5 can be fair. (The average of all BGG scores of all games is about 5.5.)

Do you update your BGG ratings? I went to your profile to see how my ratings match up but some scores were different than in this video and some games were missing that I know you've played and enjoy. Your BGG rating of Uprising Curse of the Last Emperor is a 9 (last updated in 2020 I'm guessing from the original crowdfunding plays) Dawn of the Zeds also didn't have a rating. I rate Uprising a 10 (War of the Ring and Mage Knight are my other 10s) and DotZ 3rd edition a 9. My top 20-30 are almost exclusively thematic co-ops (with WotR the only outlier due to how amazingly it evokes the theme of my favorite IP) so we have a lot of matches in the 7+ range.
No, I stopped rating games some time after I started doing reviews, because I grew to dislike that rating system compared to the more flexible 5 in 5 system. Figuring out my numbers for the games in this video was a bit of a struggle, to be honest :)

I am so very surprised that theme plays such a big role in games for you (what's with the ability to play with sticks and stones...? :) That was a more interesting list than I had anticipated!
Yeah, it's a weird part of my tastes, I'll freely admit. I don't care much about "bling" in games, big miniatures and deluxe components, because they don't tend to contribute to my "thematic immersion" in the experience. But seeing how my actions connect with the world I am playing in, how the mechanics translate into thematically sound game effects, THAT plays a HUGE role in my immersion and enjoyment of many games. Not sure if that makes sense or not :)

I am perfectly fine playing a game with bottle caps and dice I scrounged from old Monopoly boxes (and frankly would prefer that over paying $120 for a set of rules and a bunch of bespoke miniatures that take up way too much room on my shelf), but I also consider what the fiction of the game is when I decide how much I want to play it. To give an example, I held off on Mage Knight until recently because I am bored of generic fantasy games and really did not want to play another one even if people really liked it. Theme is the ticket to get me to the table, gameplay picks it up from there and decides how much I will keep playing.

But: the ranking of Bairnt would be my #1 for sure too (i guess it would be about 85).
why? there are 4 games i already bought and just have to wait to get them played, but they're so my type of games (story driven campaign games), so i'm sure they'll get at least an 8 from me on average.
And Colin's list would also get up to ~81 if i'd rank the games i already bought at 8 as average but haven't played (also i'm talking about story driven campaign games).
So again Mike, thx for the list, was a great job you did and i made some subscribes, because of the matches and content createors i wasn't aware of before!
