Great list. I passed on Unstoppable because the theme didn’t grab me, but maybe I should give it another look. My favorite game of 2024 is also my new favorite of all time: Voidfall. I also really like Leviathan Wilds. It’s so easy to get to the table (unlike Voidfall) and has a very favorable juice/squeeze ratio, to use Mark Dainty parlance.
7th Citadel also my number 1 so far this year, and Agemonia backed (July '24)....(having played ISS Vanguard and Sleeping Gods Distant Skies of this type) will root around the channel, but would be interested to hear your full list of favourite 'exploratory' games - maybe later this year? Have you backed Spirt Fire? And must see how you rate Etherfields... I have it coming tomorrow so either way I'm stuck with trying it!
Funny, I normally agree with you on nearly everything, but I bounced off both 7th Citadel and Agemonia so hard. I'm enjoying Primal and Buttons and Bugs though. Very interested in Leviathan Wilds.
Those are both a very specific type of exploratory game that I love. But yeah, if you don't like one I wouldn't expect you to like the other either :) But Leviathan Wilds is a totally different beast. Everyone I've played that with from full-on gamers to my youngest son have all enjoyed it.
You have Jekyll & Hyde vs. Scotland Yard on the released list, but it doesn't seem to be available yet. Know when/where it can be purchased? Been seeing reviews of this for a while, but no way to purchase.
Huh, you're right! I didn't know the release was so delayed. I was playing this at cons in December 2023. I just looked and it looks like it's coming to the US for retail in late August. So not too much longer to wait.
Great lists! I absolutely love Leviathan Wilds and Slaybthe Spire right now! Also enjoying both the Kinfire Delves. What's your thoughts on those? Eagerly waiting for the third one to release. I'm still waiting for Primal to arrive, and waiting for the Agemonia reprint to launch. Unstoppable is on my list to back, it's good seeing you enjoy it so much. What's your thoughts on Hoplo: Victorum (current releqse and expansion)? Would you say it's worth the price? If so, where would it fall on this list if you had to add it?
Oh I love Kinfire. I'm actually recording an early video for set #3. It's great! But since that was already on my best of 2023 list, it won't show up again here. Hoplo Victorum was also on a previous year's list. Great game for solo play. The expansion stuff isn't necessary, but what I saw looks solid.
@@kobusbrits3523 it'll be interesting to see what they do. At this point they have covered all 6 heroes from Kinfire Chronicles, so I'm not sure how they might proceed with new content.
@@OneStopCoopShop Thanks for helping Mike…. Hehehehe. I think it’s one of those games I will succumb to eventually. Still not finished tales of the red dragon inn!
I'm assuming you mean the crowdfunding #1? The negatives I've seen are "I wish they added more bonus cards" and "I wish the shipping was lower". I agree with both of those, but neither has an impact on how good I think the design and gameplay are.
AGREED! 7the Citadel is for sure near the top. They nailed it. But now I have to stop playing until the new stuff arrives haha. I have this issue where I can't play a game if I know new stuff is coming. I'm looking at you Hoplomachus!
Primal Awakening: same as you. Great card game but a lot of triggers and things to track for solo. Also overproduced (unnecesary miniatures and gigant boxes on my shelve). Buttons & Bugs: waiting for retail. Slay the Spire: I LOVE the videogame, but can't justify a 110+ € box for an almost exact version of a game I already own. Also if I want to play Slay the Spire coop there's a workshop mod in Steam for that. I understand the pleasure of playing with phisical cards but... Leviathan Wilds: I wish I liked it more but no true solo brings me back. A great game anyways. Agemonia: the combat part kills the game for me :( 7th citadel: same as Agemonia. My favourite so far: Skytear Horde Monoliths
@@OneStopCoopShop You're right. But since that expansion changed the game I consider it almost a new game. If I have to chose a 2024 strictly new game...Battle of Versailles for multi and Leviathan Wilds for solo.
@@siriactuallysara yup! But unfortunately it's a bit too complex for my kids, and my main game group didn't like it much, so it's pretty much going to be solo-only for me 😅

You’re doing such an awesome job on it

Yeah, Voidfall’s challenge to table made it tough to play for me. Also it was on the 2023 list, so it won’t pop up this year ;)
You know it's a good top 20 when you don't want to read the summarized list before watching the full video.
Dieson Crusoe and corps of discovery just got added to my list. Thanks for the recommendations!
I think you’ll love em both!

Great games and great commentary.
Thank you👍
how do you feel about unstoppable compared to astro knights eternity
Astro knights is fun, and I think it’s a better cooperative experience than Unstoppable’s 2-player mode. But for solo I find unstoppable far more fun
Great video!
I still want azgemonia but im not sure it's a good solo game.... It looks so big! Thoughts?

@@jorgemontero7905 that is a fair point... I might need to consider it for contention. I LOVE all the changes they made.
I know you are not a big fan of Euros but I am finding Nucleum a very good game. Also Blueprints of Mad King Ludwig is very addictive.
Nucleum is excellent. I’ve only played it competitive though. But once I play solo it might get on the channel
Suprised primal wasn’t higher
It's tough to get to the table, and keeping track of all the effects overwhelms me at times. Still a great game!
