That railbed trail is my favorite trail on the hill. Long sweeping turns that you can still carry a ton of speed on.
one of my favs also!
Commentary while riding plus u can talk about ur suspension upgrades as well while u ride
ill work on this!
Wow, you have little snow like us!
aka no snow
Fortunately the temperature has dropped significantly!
I like hearing comments during the ride
noted!
Coming from a die hard Assault lover...don't try to make the Assault a long track XCR. The handling is obviously very different, but so is the riding style. On an XCR you steer with the skis. With an Assault I steer with the track. If that makes sense. The sled requires more body effort to ride but will absolutely rail a corner with the track sliding and the inside ski light. Check out some of the stuff Munson Auto is doing and look at his VR1 and Assault builds. He has some really good stuff.
he is a very good friend of mine and coming from a professional snowmobile racing background i am fully aware. we are going to try and find a happy medium. i get they are very differnet but there is definitely a way to make it work
I like hearing commentary while riding as your in the moment and keeps things interesting. Gets a little boring without it. I also like the camera view looking at the 7S display to see the info.
I will try and add some commentary. I like the 7S as well but for Legal reasons i have removed it from all videos.
I agree a little commentary on your sled while riding is nice!
Man that thing rips! Thanks for taking us along for the ride
shes for sure a fun one!
What does the 24 calibration add to the 23?
just cleans alot of stuff up. there is a service bulliten that dealers have new flashs for the 23's
Looking for handguard recommendations for 2024 polaris boost vr1 besides polaris? Do you know if axys handguards will work on matrix?
Thank you
Rox Speed FX. see video below. best in the business by far
th-cam.com/video/ktmxyjBEBXA/w-d-xo.html
Vr1 or the assault, which one you liking the most?
stock for stock id say assault. has the better springs which makes it better for an aggressive rider. now after valve all shocks and compare what i had to my VR1 when that was all valved we will see!
Hey Jesse I just bought a 2024 boost vr1 137. Wondering if you have a good starting point for the stock shocks for me. Should i just start on middle setting? I'm about 175 no gear. No snow yet here in minnesota so no chance to try it out yet. Thanks in advance. Anything else i should know just let me know thanks
Hey! congrats on the new sled. We did a ton of videos last year going over stock supsesnion settings for the VR1 boosts especially. if you go to my videos you will find a ton. Hard to say exactly because everyone likes something different but last years videos should get you in the right track! if you have any questions after watching them let me know!
Ok I'll try find them. Thanks
Nice to see you guys got out! Brown and down here in MN.
brown and down here now as well :(
Def suggest the 125lb springs up front and shorten the limiter strap. That combined with the C&A XCS and Mavericks made a huge difference with ski lift and turning for me.
I saw a comment about balancing playfulness and handling. In my experience it’s one or the other. The more you do to make it handle on the trail, the further away you go from that playful feeling. I had 2 of these. Left one stock and dialed the other for trail. The sled dialed for trail will still handle fine off trail, but you won’t have that springy playfulness feeling. Once you dial that thing in for trail riding it will rip. Just watch your skid bolts. I sheared more than one driving rough trails hard.
All things we’ll be doing but we always ride the sleds stock to get a baseline. So when someone calls in to Bruce for shock work we know what they’re feeling. So we test stock and then start making changes. Might even end up with 150 IFS springs. Different spindles etc etc. but we know the baseline now which is exactly what we figured It was and we’ll go from there! Lots of valving needed in the rears. Rebound is way to fast etc etc
Did you have to use scratchers to keep her cool?
nope. ran 120ish the whole time
Talk as you rock. Let us know as you go....
will do
Imo taking the playfulness away from the assault is taking away the whole point of the snowmobile. I completely understand tho as your riding is different from mine. Is there any areas around you to get off trail into the deeper stuff? That's where these babies shine.
thats why were gonna try and find the happy medium. the way it is now is just uncontrolable. so well find that sweet spot! but we have some area but need the snow
Yes I find it better when you speak as you ride. Nice machine!
will work on this and thank youI!
Just wondering on your thoughts of putting a ggb can on the vr1 boost. Do you think it could cause any problems or power lost?
from what ive seen they do not have issues but you never know
Great video for the first ride of the season.
I think it is more interesting if you talked while you ride.
Chat what's going on with sleds, set up, performance, ect. Where you are riding. if like.
Add music to some parts, where you are just riding to take a break from talking.
Keep up the great videos.
Happy Holiday's
Cheers
thanks for the input! ill work on this! happy Holidays to you as well
I've got the itch! Very impatiently waiting on snow, excited for the videos this season Jesse! Keep up the great work🤙
we all have the itch!!! this weather needs to turn around! thank you for following along!
Ahh tabolts corners I sure wish I could be grooming the railbed right now in the valley 220
i wish you were also :(
That Bruce is one cool Dude!!
Best guy around!!
I had a 2015 Pro-S, those sleds railed on the trails!!
set up right they were great
you're gonna fall in love with that thing once you dial it in to how you like it.
i think so also!
Commentary while riding! Great video though! It gave my the itch. Planning to go to a poker rally on new years eve to get my first ride in of the year and break in the assault. Will be arounf 700 km round trip just to go ( yeh I'm from Canada lol) I live quite a ways up north in the prairies and we finally got our first inch of snow over the weekend but it'll be gone by the end of the week as it's supposed to be warm again which sad. Winter definitely needs to hurry tf up. Been waiting to ride since I snowchecked the new bitch in March lol keep up the great videos!!! Cheers!
Nice hopefully you get that ride in and hopefully winter shows up soon!
Talk during the ride. I like sled addicz and paisteboy on how they both talk during the ride
ill work on this
Can you provide any and all feedback on the XPT VS. XCS skis on the assault from your experience? Non-boost rider here, but really would like to know which direction to take as the pro-steers push way too much with a studded 1.6 track. 2021 assault on my end.
so i rode the XPT's the whole second half of last season. The XPT's perform just as well as the XCS's aside from when the snow is very deep and soft. Aside from that the XPT's win in every category to me
I was wondering with all the suspension talk, I can’t get any answers on weight ratings on torsion springs. I’m getting a new ‘23 850 VR1 129. I fluctuate in weight drastically from 225 to 275. I probably average 250 and I have a good amount of camping gear that could be a good 50 maybe 75 pounds. My old Pro S had a pro X rear spring. I was thinking at least the middle choice heavy duty spring but it seems I might need the full heavy duty torsion spring that accommodates the passenger option. Any weight numbers on the three snowcheck options you or one of your friends might be of help? Thanks I hope we get snow and you dial in your new piece.
Just go right to the XHD springs. I installed the HD at 260 and they had to be set on high with just me on it.
Video link below should answer all your questions but id recommend XHD or Trap springs. Thet are really the only ones that fit your needs. Regular HD we cut off at 225 TOTAL rider and added weight. But id give this video a watch and let me know
th-cam.com/video/T4ZvMtmaRhU/w-d-xo.html
Yea you are for sure XHD or Trap spring being 260
@@JESSEJAMES322 thank you both I’ll check the video too
Personally, I like some commentary during the ride portions. Add some info about the area and trails, places of interest, are nice for those of us not familiar with where you're riding and considering making a trip.
Also a bit of talk about the sled, handling specific to the conditions in the video are helpful in understanding the point you're trying to get across.
Doesn't have to be non stop talk but here and there to keep the viewer engaged.
Whatever you do, just please no music. Nothing worse than a cool looking ride vid with music you hate over top of it all. 😂
i tried the music a few years ago and everyone hated it so definitely no music. i will try to add some commentary inot the riding clips
@JESSEJAMES322. I 2nd this comment. Great to hear all these bits of info and commentary as you're riding.
I have a vr1 boost and turbo oil pump leak quite the puddle over the off season . Will it hurt to run it until new pumps are available?
no they only leak when they are nit running believe it or not
Sweet. Thanks for the info and keep up the good work on the videos . I learn a lot for yas
Thank you for that! were doing our best!
Keep the shiny side up hot rod.. Ski's dangling😂
always shiny side up!
What things do you do to help break in the motor?
Do a heat cycle, then start it and ride it fairly easy for a few miles to break the belt in and then let her eat. Ecu controls the extra gas and oil so so pound on it.
let her eat from day one. Not many agree but have had new sleds since 17 and ride them like i do always and have never fouled a plug and bever had an engine isssue!
Bruce always told me ride it like you stole it. Only after you wait for the engine temperature comes up
You went from a corvette to an old Cadillac fleetwood. Sure it’s going to plush ride but it never going to keep up with an xcr. Not a bad sled but it doesn’t do deep snow well enough to get rid of a rmk/khaos or trail ride nearly as well as xc/xcr. This sled would be a good option if you can only afford one
after were done with it i can guarantee itll be better then a corvette
You think you’ll be able to make that thing faster than a 129”…
I do yes
Did you get rid of the half ton duramax for the f250
no this is a sponsored truck for the season
I’d take 4” of snow at this point. We got rain and it washed away the little bit of snow we had
Thats why we drove 600 miles round trip to ride minimal snow! needed to get it in!
I’d go with talking while riding! My Buddy I ride with has an Assault I tried it and didn’t care for it definitely a little uneasy if you get on the Throttle coming out of a corner and your not pointed in the right direction Lol..
ill work on the talking while riding. and yes for sure in stock form, if youre not pointed in the right direction youre in for a fight!
Are you going to change chaincase gearing as you know it is geared 8 mph slower than a 137 vri ?
I think your sled would look better with white on the sides of the Tunnel with more logos.👍
was waiting on them to come in. watch the wrap video. had a misscomunication with the wrap company about length so they had to re print them
Glad you got out to enjoy it before all this rain came and ruined everything. Btw, I kinda prefer hearing talk/opinion while riding, that way when you explain something I can kinda see it happening in the video. But whatever is easier for you.
i will try and work some into the riding side of it!
you're going to need some carbides after that ride.
worth it
What temps were you running in that marginal snow?
125-140
@@JESSEJAMES322 Look at some Ibexx scratchers or Ski Doo rail mount with One Rig mounts. We typically run between 95 and 115 with regular snow. Your trail conditions were obviously poor, but Assault seem to like scratchers.
Talking during the ride would be nice too.
ill work on this!
@@JESSEJAMES322 some quite sections of just tearing down the trail is nice. But maybe a couple talking points every now and then would be good. Less head talking portion at the end too!
I vote Talk during riding
ill work on this!
Yep… definitely couldn’t ride one of those. I’d just end up trying to make it do what it’s not designed to do.
I know there is a happy medium somewhere. Just have to find it!
@@JESSEJAMES322 I’ll be watching
Hopefully we get me snow it doesn't look good
fingers crossed
Show us the ride and then tell us all about it
getting a lot of mixed opinions on this!
Shouldn’t have watched this… made me get the itch even more. No snow in WI, the U.P of MI or MN. Usually riding in the UP on the 1st weekend of December
We started riding at 8 am. by 230 we were on no snow and on our way home. winter needs to show up!
@@JESSEJAMES322 glad you got out at least! Great to see people riding somewhere
720p? My eyes can't focus.
i know back to the issue. idk whats going on. sorry man
Riding Skattle rats man with new sleds🤦♂️
Yup and I’d do It again
