I kinda liked Shrek 4, it feels fresh and is a nice way to send off Shreks character. It resolves the character development that was fucked up by Shrek 3. It also just creates a fun story by twisting the character dynamics, when we are at a point in the story when there really is no more stories to tell.

I remember all my friends talking about it at school, and being really sad I hadn't been able to go watch it. Then months later it's out on DVD and my grandmother buys it and puts it on for me and my brother on her really small little TV. Watching Shrek 1 on that small little TV with my brother is one of the most incredible memories I carried into adulthood. Such a vivid memory. This movie was such a catch.

I will forever be a shrek 4 Stan. I love the darker themes and more serious story. I love the alternative world. I love rumple. I think the animation is significantly better. I personally think it deserves to be in the pantheon of the 1st 2 shrek films
As someone whose kid is obsessed with Shrek (specifically Shrek 2) and I’ve now watched it definitely in the triple digits in one year I am very interested in this video as I consider myself an unofficial expert. Shrek 1 is iconic, Shrek 2 is a masterpiece, Shrek 3 is so mid, feels like a badly written fanfic that's not offensively bad but just plain tiring after the girlboss scene (last time I tried to watch it I could not stop myself from falling asleep), Shrek 4 is girlboss and definitely more about how Fiona didn't need him to save her bc she's a badass.
Shrek 1 and 2 felt like a good story which poked fun at stereotypical tropes, shrek 3 and 4 just felt like their own stories set in the universe with no intent to poke fun at any tropes, so the comedy is more hit or miss
