Katana Duels - Patch 1.09 | Elden Ring PvP

- Testing out my level 125 Powerstance Lightning Nagakiba build with some Patch 1.09 Colosseum Duels. Many weapons had their attack speeds changed, so it felt like relearning many match-ups. It's amazing what changing a few frames on hammers, great hammers, great axes, Greatswords, and curved Greatswords can change.
Overall, Katanas feel nerfed. This is due to the relative power levels of many other weapons increasing and the the fact that powerstance jump attack damage was nerfed 10%. However, the running R2 for katanas was buffed slightly. I do need to adjust my gameplay to utilize the R2 more often, so look forward to that in future videos!

I'm really looking forward to it! It has become much more difficult to evade large weapons. And how to play against guys with spears?

such an honourable build. i usually use nagakiba and for back up weapon using Rune gratesword just in case of facing spammer mages😡............ well play anyway nice timing attak .

I play int build with astrologer and I see only str and dex builds in all arena pvp videos. Can I make int competitive also or I'll have to reroll in vangard or samurai, maybe wretch?..
Int can be quite competitive, you just have to use the right weapons and spells 👍
can you try to use RIPPLE BLADE at some point i wanna see a good player use at
I have been wanting to make an arcane/dragon build for invasions and was specifically going to include ripple blade or ripple halberd on the build! Look forward to it in an upcoming vid!

Isn't the R2 unsheathe better for damage and role catching
Yes, it is much much better. I was trying out the R1 a lot in this play session, clearly not as good lol
@@VonSchnitz is moonvheil still an upgrade even if you just have the minimum int requirements? Don't really like high int builds I prefer faith and Dex but a katan with fast projectile after a quickdraw is just too damn useful and cool
@@llawlied6902 Moonveil's weapon art, Transient Moonlight is basically just a better Unsheathe since it hits so hard and has the projectile beam that travels so far. However, every single other Attack from Moonveil is inferior to Nagakiba. Less damage, less range, and split magic damage. Additionally, the fact that you can change ashes of war on the Nagakiba hides your Unsheathe whereas on Moonveil your opponent knows instantly.
To summarize, Nagakiba is better at being versatile and having a usable moveset. Moonveil is better at predictably nuking with Transient Moonlight. Good to have both around if you have an Int build.
@@VonSchnitz I'd rather use both without having more then the minimum required int ^^ I like to dusk wield katanas to have 2 ashes of war available all the time or put a second in my right weapon slot and then swap to it when they dong expect it ^^
