@@le_elvenif you quit a game because the game mode you like doesn't give you a ranking, your shallow. Professional tournies don't even use a games ranked system.
..@jeffrbake you hit the nail on the head, who gives af about the swears, if you enjoy the game you'll play it no mtter if you get ranked or not, we're still getting skins for the gamemode too lol
@@Zizou19989also, if anyone has paid attention or looked into it, they’ve already stated that a pretty big part into that is to try and hone it into a better version of itself. To be a better mode. They know their issues and people are expecting instant fixes. While what we have may not be for all the OG’s, you just can’t take away from the newcomers and those who are enjoying it right away either. Such weird complaints lol
Right now the game doesn’t feel “alive”. And i’m not talking about player counts, but just the way in which the game is made, there is no social connections in the game. There is no global voice chat, global text chat, no proximity chat, no private messaging ingame. Social avenues like those are what makes the greatest games so great. Its really hard to make or encounter any funny or random moments or have any of those type of experiences you might find in other games, because there is no communication between anyone mid match. You load in, fight, and win or lose, that’s it. Randoms don’t use their mic and honestly, they don’t even need to because of how the game is designed. People and their random personalities are what makes games fun and in The Finals, sometimes it feels like you’re alone, even though you are with 11 other people. This is something that in my opinion, hurts content creation for this game.
To add on to this I have put in their feedback discord, that perhaps they could rework entirely how you find a match because I've noticed it's not very intuitive to a lot of people. I think with the addition of these things when you load up the game immediately you see a lobby of games that you could create a room or join, whether its public or private. Not just that, but the ability to change as many things about the room so players can create their own custom game modes essentially. Perhaps even then clans & clan matches, etc once things start to become in a more solid place. All of this combined is what I think could give incentive to keep playing, instead of just for the rewards or see new stuff, etc. Combat Arms, which was also by Nexon, before giving it away; did this very well despite it had a very bad hacking problem, since the community kept it strong. However, yeah unless The Finals has better communication, focuses on its core identity before branching out, etc a lot of this wont make much a difference; only stop the bleeding, metaphorically speaking. I believe they can turn around though if they do these things.
this is actually why i quit, i like typing funny and wholesome stuff in the chat and saying GG and stuff, the game removed pretty much all communications from me, not wanting to do voice chat, did not feel really like im playing with humans but computers, its a great game, LET THE GUY ENTER THE CHAT and ill come back
Removing cashout as the ranked experience while also doing a marketing push for season 3 with Rivals and that gaming event where they spent I think 250k for a trailer-spot is just insane mismanagement. They're destroying their own game, if I was a developer on this game and enjoyed my job I'd be worried about job security.
Exactly terminal attack just isn't a horrible Game mode for the finals it's the worst version of attack and defend I've ever seen in a game, It's not true attack and defend, It's just a less fun limited version of cash out, The fact that they took away the mediums heal beam for it shows that it's a horribly designed Game mode
@@noosa187 I don't think the marketing is the problem they get a lot of people talking about them when they drop update trailers, The 1st mistake they made was making nerfs an buffs based on the complaints of unskilled players, The unskilled players are never happy and complain more the casuals get annoyed with a game they're trying to get into that constantly has nerfs and buffs And then the everyday fans of the game eventually leave Decisions are being made, The 2nd mistake embark and many developers make is thinking that every gamer is going to go on to Twitter and Reddit and learn how to play their game, The only reason they created TA is because they did a s***** job of explaining cash out to new players who had no idea what to do or what the objective was
@@DangleSanso many people complained about defibs and heal beams before terminal attack. Also balancing for low skill players is important in regards to getting new players hooked into the game. I think they've done a good job.
@@PSIChris I hear you but a lot of games I loved have destroyed themselves from the developers catering to the low-skill players, If something is broken legitimately by all means nerf it and if something is lacking give it a buff, I firmly believe the most successful approach Is to get low-skill players educated to where they become average, As I said too many Devs cater to the low skill base until the avg good players check out
For me what keeps me coming back and what will keep me coming back regardless of how popular or dead the game becomes, is that it's designed to be fun even if you aren't winning. So many shooters these days have nothing to make you feel good unless you are winning, when a gunfight is decided by a single bullet you only have a success or a failure, but the finals has so much in-between, you can stop a cashout steal and still die but then you win your team the cashout, or you lose every single cashout but still qualify because of the new cash bonuses from the last patch, or at the very least you can die but then respawn in 25 seconds and try again. For me that is what every other shooter is missing these days, and the finals does it so well! It means that I can have fun with it just as something casual to boot up and play some games to chill out, or I can get my friends on and we can sweat out some competitive games trying to play to the best of our ability.
As a content creator myself, I think I kinda know the reason. Most people came to The Finals thinking it would be the next big thing ( including me ) but slowly people started to lose hope after s2 ranked drama and s3 terminal attack situation. And also in s1 there were limited time game modes which is basically non existent now I still believe that its gonna get better, haven't had so much fun in a fps game in a long time
The game just needs time man. The foundation for the game is wonderful, and not every game has the tools that it has. When's the last time a shooter like this was great straight out of the gate? Some things just take time to iterate.
@@shahilsharma6047 hell ye, imo I felt like the game was perfect out the gate n’ they made a lot of changes since release - at least since season 2 began. The best thing the game has right now are the fun cosmetics
I love this game because it kinda has that hero shooter vibe with different classes but without the huge learning curve that comes with a hero shooter because there’s only 10 abilities total. The movement and gunplay is smooth and everything being destroyable means matches can feel wildly different if you or someone else decides to destroy everything. I usually rarely use equipment in most fps games but the right gadgets can change your whole playstyle. I really love this game and hope the devs do their best to make it better and that it becomes more mainstream
The game needs to really find its identity, once they've locked that down building onto it and having more seasonal events will actually start getting people interested in again. I'm glad they're starting to experiment, and hopefully they find a good balance for the game so they can expand it in other ways
The biggest mistake they made was releasing terminal attack it's a piss poor Game mode it's not true attack in defend it's just a less fun cash out, I don't care if more players are playing it it's a bad Game mode and doesn't play to the strengths of The Game
They had it in S1 and caved into the light players crying about everything, now the light players got everything they wanted and nobody wants to play with them , Heavy’s and mediums are trash now , Lights run TA quick play and power shift … this game is dead thanks to the keyboard warriors on discord begging for light meta the game is toxic now and has no identity might as well play COD
@@DangleSanhave you never played search and destroy in your life??? I have over 1000 hours in the finals and no, Im not burnt out on the game, but the current meta and s3 changes have made me stopped playing entirely. Half my finals friends list are never online anymore.
Everyone that I added up until this point never gets on either. The current meta has just been going on for so long now and they don't make any decent changes to rival them issues, lights been an issue since invis was the problem. But now light has so many aspects of their kit more broken than that ever was
I love the finals, and will support it till I die, or the game does. but the balance is just awful. It's just absolutely terrible. Lights, RPG, Medium getting NOTHING but nerfs for season 3, season 3 being empty, Embark not communicating with anyone. This game is my favorite f2p shooter. but it just doesn't want to thrive.
I think devs are struggling to figure out who to balance for and how best to approach balancing, it gets hard with a million different modes that all features very different metas. I hope with time they can get the game in a good state though, i still have fun every day i play it. I agree the balance is not the best
I will say a lot of people appreciate you! You seem like a rad dude and your willingness to break focus on stream and answer questions for your chat is awesome. I’m rooting for you and I’m definitely hoping they support and communicate with creators because you guys are the hype train. You are the community/face of the game that the overall community sees and engages with and gets their excitement from.
Great video! Glad someone finally started discussing this topic. If Im being honest, I feel exactly the same as you, but Embark's unwillingness to communicate basic things publicly or privately has destroyed my motivation to make a video discussing the topic/state of the game. I LOVE THE FINALS, and I'm not leaving any time soon. But Embark needs to wake up. What's happening to the game is a tragedy and does not end well down this path. The best point in the video is that creators need to know the future looks bright. When creators see the game's numbers slowly dwindling, it means our investment in the game is less valuable. Games have highs and lows. But when a team cannot acknowledge the lows or take advantage of the highs, it's a slippery slope that ends only one way as Im sure many of us have seen with our favorite franchises and games in the past. Thanks for making this video Appoh! Much needed honesty completely lacking from the community and dev team. (you better win my next tournament btw)
The devs shouldn’t have listened to Reddit ideas. Also the devs are really confused on what to do. Maybe because sales need to match goals and there isn’t as much profit or player base. Let the game be and eventually people might get on.
They are trying to experiment you know it’s free to play game and if in current state it’s not making enough money to be sustainable project you need to experiment and how you know is it good or bad without doing nothing. It’s a shame so many people do not understand that simple thing and just leave the game
@@AlexanderNovikov but why going for changes where the game was absolutelly fine? Very skill based? Why is that a problem? Isnt FORTNITE very skill based and hard too? And its doing good for lobg
@@sullyschwartz2365 yeah not everything was good. But overall the most last changes were for the bad. Even wallhacks was bad but it could all be fixed, not the things that were good already like Cashout gamemode and shit
Content creators chase views. The quality of a game doesn't matter, whether good or bad, just the views. Burnout is waaaayyyy down on the list of reasons. However, the point about having a good competitive scene is a good one.
Exactly. It's so obvious how they don't even like the game they play (commonly COD or Apex) but force enthusiasm to keep getting that bag. "Creator" sentiment is the most unreliable marker ever. Even ottr admitted he quit because it doesn't make him any money, he was in only for the bag, the rest I just lining. They don't actually like games, they like not working a real job and making money from games instead.
well yea considering content creators rely on it for income, it quite literally is either their job or what they primarily want to make income from, so when a game that doesn't have a lot of players playing let alone viewers watching, the game no longer becomes an option for them to play or the electricity goes out.
@PalPalsen ottr also left because of how toxic the community is, he told people he didn't know how long he could keep making finals content as he was losing money on the vids, some people asked him to do a patreon with levels, he didn't want to as he said its not really worth his time, people still asked so he did, told people he doesn't expect them to pay and they don't have to and he got absolutely destroyed on reddit by the community that he was doing the content for, madness.
I'm too addicted to the finals to quit >:) BUTT I also don't play competitively nor create content for competitive players. So I personally have a different perspective than most. I'm also incredibly irrelievent so I don't think creators like myself are really at issue here 😅 W video though Appoh! Really well spoken
@@XueYlva IMO if you enjoy making content and enjoy the finals, you should 100% make content about it no matter what. For myself, its a passion project! So even though I don't get a lot of views or w,e w.e I still have a blast making stuff about the game! AND I love the game on top of it (disregarding RPG hehe) SOO yes, I believe we are exactly the people who should be!
As a solo queue player in W.T. my experience has been awful with matchmaking. I face 3 stacks or teams that work together while having teammates that seem to have never played The Finals.
@@OmniscientReadr I'm currently sitting at 135 wins with 294 losses. Literally my wins are 45% of my losses because of this. But I'm averaging a 1.3 KD out of a total of 429 matches... I played like 10 matches tonight where the team mates didn't even try for objective or seemed to know what they're doing
your point about lack of challenge made me think of two world tour final rounds I had the other day, almost back to back in one we got stomped by a balanced team that clearly had each others backs, rotated fast, seemed to be communicating and generally played well, meanwhile I'd barely managed to get my 2 light teammates with no sense for the objective and who barely got any kills to the final round by the skin of my teeth, only for them to go to the cashout 150m away rather than the cashout
I've quit the game several times now because of how bad teammates are in solo que. If there was a looking for group feature I don't even think that would help. People genuinely don't know what to do. Even in powershift most people don't play objective. I like my teammates more in dota than the finals that's how terrible solo que is.
Stop nerfing recoil pattern is the most important point and also one of my most important negative points in this game. Its just hella annoying to get good with a weapon and the next patch/season its getting totally changed.
I don't blame content creators for quitting. Embark has been incredibly stubborn with their changes. Balance still has yet to be implemented well. Terminal Attack ranked was obviously the most controversial thing of Season 3, but Embark didn't give a fuck about the overwhelming volume of what people said and released it anyways as it is. We got dumb changes like the recoil nerfs, the APS nerf and Dash nerf. There's just not much of a competitive vibe to be seen in THE FINALS. It just feels like to everybody that Embark is getting weaker and more stubborn overtime, and people had a lot of hype and faith in a truly unique shooter that it got such an initial huge following before it dropped. I've seen too many of my former teammates and mains quit because of what Embark is doing to the game, and they can only take so much, or believe long enough that they'll turn things around. When a developer is stubborn and refuses to listen, takes too long in implementing the right changes to make, or makes bad decisions overall, then they *will* quit. Any content creator can say "fuck this shit, I quit" at any time, and that's okay.
Naaa just my opinion but I disagree with most of this video and the comments. Especially as to how this game came about and all. And that's alright with it not being for everyone but the changes on THEIR GAME have been crucial for fixes. I mean for real they got rid of cash penalties. Everyone thinks that means kill chasing is now going to be worse. But for the Tru players out there you will see that it is now in your favor to not wipe a team. You get 500$ per kill, imagine leaving that last guy to go revive his tm8s, boom you can now loop 1000$ every push as long as there last is not stubborn for the kills
the recoil changes killed me. I had the lewis gun almost to level 6, maybe 30k off. they changed the recoil for the second time and I just gave up because I don't like the new recoil.
I mostly don’t agree with your perception of Embark. Balance, while still not ideal, is infinitely better than it was at launch with 1250 HP mesh shields, 180 damage RPGs with considerably more forgiving falloff, instant defibs, recon senses, and nukes. (I would also say that the changes you list as dumb either aren’t dumb or aren’t really a problem, but that’s a different discussion.) While TA ranked was a mistake, they’ve made it clear that it’s not here to stay and I buy their explanation for why they can’t just reverse course once they locked it in. And aside from those points, their consistent pace of updates and community interaction on the discord server is laudable, especially for how relatively small they are. I’ve been playing The Finals since the first closed beta, and I’ve been paying attention to its development since the closed alpha. Embark is not infallible, but they are definitely better than the majority of free-to-play live service studios and I have faith in them to make the right decisions, or at least enough of them to add up to a positive direction for the game.
Its funny how other content creators will cling to their mistreated games (Apex, OW, Siege etc.) but when theres a game with promise, potential and genuinely good devs they turn a blind eye
I’m not sure if TA being pushed was to lure in more of the casual community but I REALLY feel like they dropped the ball with not sticking to their flagship modes. Instead of TA, they should have really focused on bolstering Bank It. Maybe a hot take, but this mode is their second flagship mode in my opinion and gives the casual community the TDM-like mode that has “The Finals” originality to it. With my group, it was literally all we played, every single day of the open beta…and still do daily. This season has been depressing to say the least. If we would have had ranked Cashout and a WT for something like Bank It, I think the majority of my friends wouldn’t have moved on. I worry Season 4 will be a “too little too late” situation and won’t change the damage this season has done already.
Thank you for confirming this 10:44, I applied for this and was streaming my ass off and was curious as to why there was no update since it seemed like the game needed help. Unfortunately you cant even reach out if you are passionate enough about the game because the community managers don't even want you to DM them lol. This season I kind of stepped away but I still love the game, the map and I plan to finish at least the battle pass.
I watch a ton of games I don’t play… and recently I haven’t really been playing the finals either. Definitely stick around though… the smaller the pie gets, the bigger slice you can attain. Nobody can say you don’t deserve it!
I hope the devs communicate more, being left in the dark is no good. It’s to a point where NEXON of all people are communicating better with their community for TFD
This is the 3rd video of yours Ive seen, and this is the one that made me hit follow. Thank you for your honesty and your story. Im new to this game with season 3. As a new player, switching to this from PubG, for me it feels like a breathe of fresh air, and is honestly way less toxic of an environment in my opinion. Its nice to hear a little more back story from the creator perspective, and its kinda sad that a lot of the community feels this way. I hope they continue to listen and make changes effectively, cause I really think this game has potential. Great content my dude 👌
Thats why i play different games and make videos about every game ! I grinded finals hard and do play it every second day but expecially with a youtube channel you need other games to play . Enjoy the games and not being mad about the games ❤
The constant changes to weapons and abilities is what made me and everyone I played with quit. Felt let everytime we logged on we had to change how we played and couldn't focus on actually playing the objective. If they do a reset at some point and have some season that's basically just how season 1 started with new maps I'd try it out again
I think the latter half of the video was more informative to myself as a player than the first half. Views burnout blah blah of course, but I didn't know how drastic the change in developer interaction with the creators was. Hoping for continued support on the finals from the devs, it is really fun (I am not competitive).
Yeah I just wanted people to understand creators leaving is natural and to not be worried but also there are some genuine concerns to be made so there's sort of two sides to it. I'm glad you stuck around for the interesting bits
For me personally, its just the balancing and bugfix side that has gotten really stale - these days I genuinely have to worry about enemy team compositions and their loadouts when I choose which weapon I want to run. When there are enough people running certain loadouts, im just not really allowed to play at all due to how these things are just a hard counter... This just forces me to play weapon options I am less familiar with and don't enjoy as much if I want to be able to win at all :/ We the melee community still have long lasting bugs with bug report threads which have been around to span all 3 seasons (thousands of messages!) a lot of which are unresolved with very little to no communication on that regard I just want to be able to play riot shield or dagger without half the lobby being able to kill me on a whim :/
I only know of Ottr, and I would think Staycation would make content on season drops, other than that some of my favorites keep making content, like Thiixy, Willfromwork, you, and Eutopia
I’m just watching every new finals video I see. Yours are my favorite. But as an interested player there’s almost not enough videos to watch right now. It’s cool to get to find smaller creators though like this.
Another comment stated the lack of social interaction options and I agree a lot! Next to things like global chat in matches etc my idea would be a lore accurate community hub you can access like the training ground. It would be like the "registration desk" for the tournament. You can still join games like usually over the menu but in the hub you would join with you main character, have your rank shown above you und can go to a "looking for teammates" corner where you can start privat chats with others to check if it fits. When you want to play together you can immediately create a team in this hub and to start a match you walk to a big door together like you would go to the arena. All this and like tvs with ads from the in-game sponsors for decoration, a corner where you can just goof around with guns/sprays/emotes and a corner with fitting multiplayer minigames to just have fun together would be a nice addition imo it would increase the tournament immersion and helps to form a better community, also helps with finding people who want to olay as a team. Maybe some would even start using a mic then, when they chatted a bit via chat or emotes beforehand
Bad communication with community and really dumb decisions. Making a good game is one thing. However, maintaining it, is completely another. This shut down will be deserved.
I really hope not, that game is a fresh air for with all those shitty games out there, been Playing Apex since season 0 and i truly can’t even see or touch the game anymore.
@@owling7871 game is almost perfect for its audience, problem comes from the fact that it's misinterpreted as fuck. i think people really don't get the subtlety of a move like DELETING A FUCKING RANKED FROM THE GAME. like people don't get THE MESSAGE. can't grasp a simple concept of not playing games for LADDERS and raw contention. I just like flying by with a double barrell in a cool looking outfit. game works wonders in terms of custom gameplay expirience, but game feel they strive for is not competitive in any sense. just chill the fuck out and play world tour. it's good, i swear, for sweatlord tryhards there is a literal concentration camp of terminal atack. boring but fair enough to not rage on a game balance for a game about GAMEPLAY EXPRESSION Fuck off yall, this game died because of an expectation of what's never was there. you killed it. too bad
there are a couple reasons i haven't been playing the finals. but currently the biggest reason is I keep getting kicked from servers when the client finds a game. I'm not doing anything, I swear. I dropped out for season 2, came back for 3, and now when I look for a match, 7/10 quickplay games i try to join it gives me a server error and I can't find a game. so i just turn it off. the other reason that is actually gameplay related. is that I hate the respawn system. which is a tough thing for them to deal with. otherwise I truly love this game, but it's hard to stay with it.
Love your content as always. I'm still just as addicted to the finals as I was day one, 400 plus hours later. I still think we have a very bright future ahead in the finals. Keep making vids Appoh, we will all keep watching.
I used to follow Ottr but he's quit lately. I think he had some valid criticisms about the game not being streamer friendly, from the completely wild change to make Terminal Attack ranked (which nobody wanted) and then commit to it for the entire season, and the fact that the only real thing to grind in the game outside of TA is the world tour leaderboard, which is spread over such a large time frame that it's very difficult to climb unless you've started early and play consistently for the entire season - again, not particularly engaging content to stream. Having said that, I think part of the fault there lies with Ottr himself - it's all well and good saying that his Finals content isn't bringing in enough views, but I don't think the blame lies entirely with the game itself; We've seen thousands of instances of Content Creators attracting huge audiences to play terrible games. The fact of the matter is that Ottr comes across as quite arrogant ("I could make a lot more money if I played something else, the devs need to support me better" etc) while really not offering much to audiences beyond being quite good at the game. His patreon where he sold entry-level game mechanics as "tips" also feeds into this idea that he's entitled to support while really not contributing much more than simply playing the game at an above-average level. Most content creators know that the only way to be long-term successful is either to ride the wave of zeitgeist and play whatever is new and exciting, or to be so good at a game that the devs recognize you and support you personally. The Finals has now thoroughly fallen out of the zeitgeist, and there simply isn't enough engaging dev support to keep streamers pumping out engaging content.
I Couldn't Agree more nicely done Appoh! Altough the game was fun for a while to many wrong changes (in my opinion) ultimately led to my decision. Will I come back who knows

Irl merch and advertising would probably help as well they don’t really market the game. World tour is fine just add more locations and make it official ranked mode. Me personally TA should just be a casual mode or removed Add new gun to Medium and Heavy More weapon skins or a trade system Rinse and repeat.

I’ve always thought stuff like Fortnite cash cups tourneys where you can win good money month to month along with other prizes and a good ranked system really could change a lot. Maybe some notes could be taken
True but fortnite was like a world historic money printing machine, within an established giant of the industry, pretty hard to live up to that for a smaller studio like embark

haven't opened the game in a while but I watch every video and genuinely see so much promise in it competitively, I watch a lot of competitive overwatch and lately there is so much balancing issues/disagreement there, I commonly bring up how finals imo better handles cooldowns/compositions/maps/3v3v3v3, it really is the perfect mix of my favorite games and yet why am i not playing it...idk. I still sense ill return soon but it is a little tough to pick back up. this isnt the key but I think we need more maps , in all games,. every game functionally has like 6 maps whereas I remember old cod had like 20-30 maps to rotate that kept things more interesting/fresh
Big agree that more maps would help, but I do understand that their map making process probably takes longer than it does for most games, since they not only have to build the walls, they have to define how they all break and how that effects gameplay
Season 1 and 2 am had me hooked and I started posting shorts on this game but now in season 3 I’ve had to start posting shorts of different games to grow my channel and the views have just been going down so much and in world tour the skill is not there I’m currently a silver 4 being put in gold 1 lobbies and consistently dropping 10 kills or higher and having the most kills in the lobby and yet because I don’t have 12 hours a day to play I can’t get up to gold for me if I want to grow my channel idk if the finals will help me do it I loved this game during season 1 and 2 but now I’m on the edge if wether I should continue based on how season 4 is if they don’t fuck around again they need to stop experimenting and go back to what had them 30k average player on steam during season two TA should be taken out of the game because nobody plays it any it sucks as a gamemode I’ll wait it out until season 4 if they fuck around again I might have to consider leaving the game cuz ever since season 3 dropped I lost 300 subs due to them not liking the game any more so I just pray that embark cooks and not fucks this up
I've never been a huge FPS player. I mostly play ARPG and MMO's but The Finals hooked me from day one of the beta. It's always a blast even if you aren't winning. The destructible environments and the abilities, the smoothness of a brand new game on my ol' 1080 Ti just feels great. I LOVE the skin design and attention to detail in all the skins. It's always fun to play and I really hope the devs can make a turnaround and keep the game going strong and keep the content alive. It would really be nice if the social interactions were a bit more modern as in many other games. They need to tighten up the social interactions, and party management etc. It would be cool if we could also have our own clan names/team names but obv that's not any sort of dealbreaker, just a nice touch.
I never play multiplayer games, especially shooters, ever since finals came out, this is my first multiplayer shooter and this is all I've played ever since. I loved everything, the shooting, the movement , the destruction, the presentation, instantly hooked. And i loved terminal attack too in season 2, and played quite a bit, but ever since season 3, i haven't even touched it, i really really miss ranked cashout
One of the reasons i stick to this game is cuz of dope my contestants look and the grind for multibucks. Spectacular vid, btw and hope to see this game flourish in S4.
That’s Cool I’m About To Start Making Content Cause I Actually Love & Care About The Game With A Passion I Don’t Care For Views Somebody Gotta Put Finals Information Out 🤷🏽♂️
I blame it partly on The First Descendant. Casual The Finals players like me just don't have the time to play both games. I haven't even touched Once Human yet. What is enticing about TFD is the character and weapon modding using in-game stat modules. I hate the farming but the anticipation of getting your characters to a higher level and become stronger with unique setup according to one own's playstyle is what's keeping you playing and putting in the hours.
Man, some of these clips are insane enough to belong in official trailers, its such a shame to see such an intense, unique, and high octane game not be as popular as others. I can understand why people leave, but it doesn't make it hurt any less :(
Wow, that's a great perspective from your side as creators. And, all the more reason to maintain clear communication between the Devs, community and content creators, don't you think? Embark's decisions with the updates & revisions of the game can end up hurting the brand of The Finals itself. When this game launched, it had a fun, new, different and surprisingly addictive gameplay. As a casual player, this was a great game to play. But, burnout does play a factor in maintaining interest.. I just hope the Devs can lay out a vision of where they see this game is heading, and communicate it clearly and sort it out with the community, content creators and keep raising the bar. All the best to you, Appoh. Your contents have been very helpful. Cheers.
Just imagine S4 with Cashout ranked, and maybe World Tour with Power Shift - Bank It as main events. It’s gonna be a blast! 🙏🏼 TA was a rough decision for sure. But I do have high hopes for Embark. They’ve done nothing but listening to the community after this misstep (and rn the casual base is in a good place tho).
i'll say this again and again if i have to, your content is a breath of fresh air compared to other creators, appoh. even with how uncomfortable this game's health can be sometimes, you present it in a way that's calming and cool. props!
Man, The finals was fun but my circle and I ditch it because invis sliding ninja I love The Finals, especially the early release day. Then the sweat in every corner, we can't compete so we quit
I always said it's like somebody handed them the game and they have no idea what to do with it. And the thing that frustrated me the most about this game is that they never fulfill their promise on communicating with the comp players and now they're all gone, literally one of the main Developers said in the Q&A that they will but that was all a lie.
I feel like twice as many players are in diamond rank than there was a week ago, almost the entire top 500 are diamond, after two months. A week ago there was like 200 in diamond so the latest patch seems to address the comp problem, finally. Also correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it only the lewis gun that received a recoil nerf? The 93r and lh1 were made easier and the m60 was changed but not necessarily nerfed. Imo all the recoil patters I described made the game feel healthier for comp and casual with the changes to recoil. At the start of season 3 I remember seeing a sneak peek event that did not go well tbh but there were content creators from the finals participating. I hope to see this game flourish as well as I love this game and can see a lot of mistakes the devs have made/not addressed but there are also some things they should be recognized for, and these are some of those things.
I'm still enjoying the game. I see why people are mad or have negative thoughts about the game (I'm one of them), but I don't see why they sell it all and don't play the game or quit just because someone says it's dead.
I just played with a buddy who had sworn off the game in season 2 - we played one game of bank it to get him acclimated, then a world tour game and finally a TA. Oddly enough he liked TA the most. As long as we can queue I think that the game will get where it’s supposed to go and good creators like you will be fine
I just dropped it for my sanity, since solo queue sucks. No loss forgiveness or any kind of compensation when my random teammate leaves, i just have to play 10 mins to lose. It is frustrating. The game does not respect your effort and with te loss of cashout as the comp mode, it is an easy uninstall. Not draining my mental health for a game that doesn't even know what it wants to be. Devs are completely clueless on how a multiplayer fps should be, maybe add a system for when players leave the game so they don't get a punishment they laugh at. If it will go like this, i will be happy seeing the game die.
hey Apphoh, what kinda specs do you run on your PC? just curious. What setting do you run as well? your GP is so smooth, and on my content creation channel i struggle to keep my GP looking as smooth as yours. I constantly dip below 120 FPS with a 3070ti and R7 5800x3d. Would love to see what kinda speccy stuff you are up to so i can level up my content creation. Thanks. Love the content.
Burnout is a bitch, variety is important. Consider too this is very much a season of experimentation. Not everything sticks but the stuff that does is gonna be brought forward. And as for player counts, game is like top 20 among all free games on Xbox. On pc it’s like top 70 iirc, which is huge among steam games. It’s not dead, it’s not a monster like cod or apex or what have you. Most games sit at this level, it’s super rare for mp games to stay at those monstrous heights.
They need a larger player vs played no more 3v3 and stuff make two teams of 10 or something the maps are so large they can handle more players on it at once. Battlefield I loved as they had huge multiplayer maps with lots of players fighting on it at once. If the finals added a domination mode like that I’d be happy with it as I usually only play bank it
im nowhere near a top player, but i have around 400 hours so im familiar with the game, and i like terminal attack. i dont think it should be the ONLY ranked mode, or even a ranked mode at all (rn at least) and it may be too much of a time sink right now to get right, but i do think they should revisit it in a few seasons after they've added more game modes and maps and see if people have come around. I also really enjoy casual play in this game and i really want more casual, fun game modes that can only happen in this game, and i want them to continue enrich the sandbox with weird gadgets that change the game. when i think of a perfectly balanced mp fps i think of the halo games, so much opportunity to fuck around with buddies, which the finals really needs more of imo, but still a solid ranked ladder to grind through if you want to get good, the sandbox allows for both. I really want that for the finals and i think it can do it.
i hope more n more people leave so they can realize their mistakes and do more to fix it because i love this game. my team and i dominate world tour when we play. i only played 1 round of that hot pile of shit they called terminal attack.
@@Appoh you made some great points in the video but for me I don’t make income with content creations. I don’t burn out because I do a lot outside of the game that gives my mind a fresh start when I hop back into the game. Also you just gotta get back to the routes on why you enjoyed the game in the first place and simply try new things and enjoy it for what it is worth. People keep saying this game is “dying” all they are doing is speaking it into existence. This game is more fun than ever
I love the game! I play it everyday. I do understand some people get burned out... When I finished world tour badge and the battlepass I thought okai what now? Cuz I don't want to play TA
Solo que in the Finals is worse than in a MOBA. At least people in Dota actually have some sense of the objective and strategy of the game. In the Finals it feels like your teammates have literally no idea what to do or why. They take terrible fights, don't understand third partying, push by themselves, don't heal or rez at crucial times, don't use their mic or text chat to coordinate, and most of the time you have lights for teammates that just feed. You can carry in this game but it isn't fun to have to carry every time. I have had so many teammates mute me or rage simply over not wanting to coordinate and saying I'm annoying for pointing out things like don't teamwipe or we lose, or don't go for that cashout we don't have enough time.
The community for this game is so divided - reddit complains constantly about the game being too hard and lights being overpowered, and youtube says they suck and that the game needs more competitive support. All this to say that there seems to be separate sides of the community that are very vocal about certain things and it's giving mixed messages to embark. I'm not sure what the solution is, just an observation
I think this is a very common issue but i think the solution comes down to fun, light is popular because its simply fun to play, therefore more people think its op cuz they see it often. it's a difficult situation to be in for embark but i think making heavy more fun can be an easy solution to making balance better for casuals and then we can tweak numbers for comp side when every class is equally enjoyable
@@Appoh especially since as you said before, recoil for many of the heavy guns are pretty ridiculous for casual players. I almost never see lewis in my matches lately, even if the gun is really strong because casual players usually don't want to deal with R6 Siege levels of recoil
fix the packet loss and add an actual crosshair, dropping the entire magazine in a single enemy at 5 centimeters with 0 damage is not normal fix the matchmaking I can't be carrying animals with 0 kills or hard trolling (like having 0 kills or less than 2 it's not hard trolling already) and losing due to them remove every free AFK bs like turrets, mines, stun gun, and gas spam so people actually have to use their brain in order to kill add a +1 damage to every weapon so there's not someone always at 1HP remake bank it with different objectives so it's not a light simulator and make microtransactions actually micro, not game priced transactions in the store, done I saved The Finals in my mind now they have to do it in real life (they will not)
@@ronin_fpsalso, remove almost every nerf to weapons embark has done, I don't want another overwatch situation where they break every characters's legs instead of buffing everyone to make everything usefull and fun to play
The other problem is that this game doesn't feel "worth it" to play for CC. Quoting a big name VTuber (750k sub) that mention this: "... we were crying about the lack of engaging FPS like new FPS games and stuff, and [...Regard the finals...] but I feel like, yeah it might be better, but I feel like there's no competitive scene. I just like games with a competitive scene because it just makes it much more, I guess, like, it just makes it much more like there's like a worth to playing it. I know there's like leaderboards, there's like top 500 for Finals, but you can't really Flex it. If you tell somebody "I'm top 500 in the Finals" they'll be like "what?" It's just - look, I need the ego boost. Like, what's the point if I can't Flex that shit you know? what's the point if I can't be like I'm top 500 and something and then they'll be like "what?" One of the reason Apex got boosted are Japanese (and VTubers) playing it.
If your passionate, viewers will come. Kind of the old school youtube philosophy. Playing a game to try and earn money quickly isn't the right mindset The issue with matchmaking and balancing, If i am matched perfectly, but use a weapon i'm not as good with, then matchmaking seems off even if it is just me choosing a different weapon.
They removed the whole thing that made the game, being ranked tournaments. They literally put wallhacks into the game, as an ability called recon. They literally killed the game, right at the start and now in the end. Epic Fail!
terminal attack basically killed finals comp, it was like "alr so yknow the unique mode that is our entire games identity? yeah we removed it"
It’s.. not gone though. You can literally play it

This is something that in my opinion, hurts content creation for this game.
wow this is actually a very good point, i agree fully
I believe they can turn around though if they do these things.
this is actually why i quit, i like typing funny and wholesome stuff in the chat and saying GG and stuff, the game removed pretty much all communications from me, not wanting to do voice chat, did not feel really like im playing with humans but computers, its a great game, LET THE GUY ENTER THE CHAT and ill come back
They can really unlock potential in their custom games
Your right. It took me like 20 games to find a teamate that uses a mic. And they didn't even speak english
I think the player count would have still been disappointing even if they didn't make the TA change.
Their marketing just doesn't work.
And also in s1 there were limited time game modes which is basically non existent now
I still believe that its gonna get better, haven't had so much fun in a fps game in a long time
I totally forgot that limited time game modes were a thing bruh
I stopped playing simply because I got tired of the game modes. Started playing simply bc of terminal attack
@@techshinegaming8630yooo I was just gonna say the same thing lol
I enjoyed the building destruction focus in season 1. Now the game is starting to feel bland and have to play with goofy loadout ragers.

Yeah, game was better before than with all these changes. They needed to improve what was already a good game. Not change everything
They are trying to experiment you know it’s free to play game and if in current state it’s not making enough money to be sustainable project you need to experiment and how you know is it good or bad without doing nothing. Content creators chase views. The quality of a game doesn't matter, whether good or bad, just the views. Burnout is waaaayyyy down on the list of reasons. However, the point about having a good competitive scene is a good one.
It's all treated as a job than just a hobby
@@PalPalsen if they really didnt like the game they wouldnt have continued uploading as load as they did the game fell off within a week of release
well yea considering content creators rely on it for income, it quite literally is either their job or what they primarily want to make income from, so when a game that doesn't have a lot of players playing let alone viewers watching, the game no longer becomes an option for them to play or the electricity goes out.
I'm too addicted to the finals to quit >:)
BUTT I also don't play competitively nor create content for competitive players. So I personally have a different perspective than most. I'm also incredibly irrelievent so I don't think creators like myself are really at issue here 😅 W video though Appoh! Really well spoken

As a solo queue player in W.T. my experience has been awful with matchmaking. I face 3 stacks or teams that work together while having teammates that seem to have never played The Finals.
One of my big complaints with this game right now as well
Literally. That’s why I have 137 matches played with only 40 wins
@@OmniscientReadr I'm currently sitting at 135 wins with 294 losses. Literally my wins are 45% of my losses because of this. But I'm averaging a 1.3 KD out of a total of 429 matches... I played like 10 matches tonight where the team mates didn't even try for objective or seemed to know what they're doing
your point about lack of challenge made me think of two world tour final rounds I had the other day, almost back to back
in one we got stomped by a balanced team that clearly had each others backs, rotated fast, seemed to be communicating and generally played well, meanwhile I'd barely managed to get my 2 light teammates with no sense for the objective and who barely got any kills to the final round by the skin of my teeth, only for them to go to the cashout 150m away rather than the cashout
Its just hella annoying to get good with a weapon and the next patch/season its getting totally changed.
agreed, the skill curve shouldnt change, if u learn the recoil u prob wont mind a bit of a dmg nerf but a whole new recoil just ruins your motivation.
because alot of changes this last update weren't needed
Finally someone gets it
Naaa just my opinion but I disagree with most of this video and the comments.
Stubborn devs + d-riding fans is what's killing the game
the recoil changes killed me.
People with no hands got roasted
What do you expect them to communicate, more specifically? From what I’ve seen and they seem to make clear their intentions.
They are the most communicative devs of all time.
I’ve actually stop playing apex so heavy due to the lack of gameplay updates to put more time into The Finals an I’m really enjoying it
This is the 3rd video of yours Ive seen, and this is the one that made me hit follow.
The day we get to a point where people care less about content creators, it'll be a better thing for gaming in general.
This just forces me to play weapon options I am less familiar with and don't enjoy as much if I want to be able to win at all :/
We the melee community still have long lasting bugs with bug report threads which have been around to span all 3 seasons (thousands of messages!) a lot of which are unresolved with very little to no communication on that regard
I just want to be able to play riot shield or dagger without half the lobby being able to kill me on a whim :/
I only know of Ottr, and I would think Staycation would make content on season drops, other than that some of my favorites keep making content, like Thiixy, Willfromwork, you, and Eutopia
yeah we still have awesome creators doing gods work
I’m just watching every new finals video I see.

I got the terrible feeling that Nexon soon is about to shut down this game at any moment....
I just like flying by with a double barrell in a cool looking outfit. game works wonders in terms of custom gameplay expirience, but game feel they strive for is not competitive in any sense. just chill the fuck out and play world tour. it's good, i swear, for sweatlord tryhards there is a literal concentration camp of terminal atack. boring but fair enough to not rage on a game balance for a game about GAMEPLAY EXPRESSION
Fuck off yall, this game died because of an expectation of what's never was there. you killed it. too bad
@@owling7871 they put recon wallhacks at the start. they never wanted the game to succeed imo
there are a couple reasons i haven't been playing the finals. but currently the biggest reason is I keep getting kicked from servers when the client finds a game.
Nice clip of killing me at 0:16😂
Love your content as always.
@@DuckFilmstv it doesnt hurt to check every new season. But ultimately you gotta do what is best for you. I wish you all the success whether its on the finaps or any other game you choose. Miss you bb
the lack of new weapons and the weapons being bad is definitely a big part.
I think it's just that there isn't a big enough audience for the finals so many don't want to have not many views 😢
Been subbed since season 1 hurts my heart to hear how Embark are treating you creators you guys are what keep me going and updated on the game makes since why some creators wouldn't wanna make Finals content anymore you and ABOP are my personal favs
Irl merch and advertising would probably help as well they don’t really market the game.
World tour is fine just add more locations and make it official ranked mode.
Me personally TA should just be a casual mode or removed
Add new gun to Medium and Heavy
More weapon skins or a trade system
Rinse and repeat.
Real talk? The fatal flaws are the following:
- TA Ranked feeling forced
- The mess of competitive play
- OVERTWEAKING THE GAME MECHANICS😊
-Twitch Rivals HURT THE GAME, AS IT WAS FORMATTED 😫
- Still too few of map variety
-/// UNREAL ENGINE DISCOVERY BUGS ///
I’ve always thought stuff like Fortnite cash cups tourneys where you can win good money month to month along with other prizes and a good ranked system really could change a lot. Maybe some notes could be taken
true, I'd love more tourneys
True but fortnite was like a world historic money printing machine, within an established giant of the industry, pretty hard to live up to that for a smaller studio like embark
@@Enkinanna if people found out and you could win hundreds of dollars at a minimum a month if you rank high in least attorneys that would draw a lot of high competition people to come join
haven't opened the game in a while but I watch every video and genuinely see so much promise in it competitively, I watch a lot of competitive overwatch and lately there is so much balancing issues/disagreement there, I commonly bring up how finals imo better handles cooldowns/compositions/maps/3v3v3v3, it really is the perfect mix of my favorite games and yet why am i not playing it...idk.
6:52 sounds like a cod players dream
Skip to 1:10 to actually get the info
I never play multiplayer games, especially shooters, ever since finals came out, this is my first multiplayer shooter and this is all I've played ever since. I loved everything, the shooting, the movement , the destruction, the presentation, instantly hooked. And i loved terminal attack too in season 2, and played quite a bit, but ever since season 3, i haven't even touched it, i really really miss ranked cashout
One of the reasons i stick to this game is cuz of dope my contestants look and the grind for multibucks. Spectacular vid, btw and hope to see this game flourish in S4.
Just an idea for future vids: maybe good/fun team combos? Like good team synergy that may be off-meta.
i have done a vid like that recently. It did not get too many views so I'm not sure theres too much of a market for comps as most players solo q
@@Appoh makes sense, gadget/loadout highlights may be the move then. Love the content though!
That’s Cool I’m About To Start Making Content Cause I Actually Love & Care About The Game With A Passion I Don’t Care For Views Somebody Gotta Put Finals Information Out 🤷🏽♂️
I just really like the finals and want finals content. I’m sad to see so many creators leaving.
I blame it partly on The First Descendant. Casual The Finals players like me just don't have the time to play both games. I haven't even touched Once Human yet. What is enticing about TFD is the character and weapon modding using in-game stat modules. I hate the farming but the anticipation of getting your characters to a higher level and become stronger with unique setup according to one own's playstyle is what's keeping you playing and putting in the hours.
just started playing and love your content man ❤keep up the work
Man, some of these clips are insane enough to belong in official trailers, its such a shame to see such an intense, unique, and high octane game not be as popular as others.
TA was a rough decision for sure. But I do have high hopes for Embark. They’ve done nothing but listening to the community after this misstep (and rn the casual base is in a good place tho).
I loved your sincere and humble opinion 🙏 about the entire video! Congratulations and continue with this type of content 👏
i'll say this again and again if i have to, your content is a breath of fresh air compared to other creators, appoh. even with how uncomfortable this game's health can be sometimes, you present it in a way that's calming and cool. props!
Man, The finals was fun but my circle and I ditch it because invis sliding ninja
I love The Finals, especially the early release day.
I hope to see this game flourish as well as I love this game and can see a lot of mistakes the devs have made/not addressed but there are also some things they should be recognized for, and these are some of those things.
fcar as well but recoil nerfs in general upset people
When you read the word burn out what comes to mind?
For me: Terminal Attack, invisibility, snipers, noobs on my team, RS sytem
I'm still enjoying the game. I see why people are mad or have negative thoughts about the game (I'm one of them), but I don't see why they sell it all and don't play the game or quit just because someone says it's dead.
I agree, I still play, I love the finals as well, I just feel like it doesn't love me, we need multiple new guns, maps & cashout back forsure
I just played with a buddy who had sworn off the game in season 2 - we played one game of bank it to get him acclimated, then a world tour game and finally a TA. Oddly enough he liked TA the most. As long as we can queue I think that the game will get where it’s supposed to go and good creators like you will be fine
The numbers aren’t there just yet for The Finals, this is only the beginning
Of the end

Hopefully more dont quit but i fully understand why they would. Prayin this game makes a big comeback as of right now it is my favorite fps to play
not sure how it would be possible but if there was something speedrunable that could boost player count since there's a lot of dedicated speed runners
Random thought but I like the vibe of your content. Chill and genuine
can we take a moment to appreciate the gameplay clips in this video 🔥🔥🔥
Don't leave Big dog, You are fun to watch
Never, i love the game too much
I just dropped it for my sanity, since solo queue sucks.
4090, forget the rest lol i get around 180-200 fps
I watch almost all your videos, but personally i like your opinion videos. good luck!
If the finals added a domination mode like that I’d be happy with it as I usually only play bank it
They had a good thing going. Half the changes sent this beautiful game with some much potential to trash
I just don’t enjoy watching finals content creators most are boring and focus on being good at the game rather then being actually entertaining
that's fair, it's certainly a challenge
Other players are having an argument about whether Cashout or Terminal Attack is better but I just like Power Shift 😂
This is very solid content. Enbark please listen to this guy.
im nowhere near a top player, but i have around 400 hours so im familiar with the game, and i like terminal attack. i dont think it should be the ONLY ranked mode, or even a ranked mode at all (rn at least) and it may be too much of a time sink right now to get right, but i do think they should revisit it in a few seasons after they've added more game modes and maps and see if people have come around.
I just started and I’m never quitting

@@Appoh you made some great points in the video but for me I don’t make income with content creations. I don’t burn out because I do a lot outside of the game that gives my mind a fresh start when I hop back into the game. Also you just gotta get back to the routes on why you enjoyed the game in the first place and simply try new things and enjoy it for what it is worth. People keep saying this game is “dying” all they are doing is speaking it into existence. This game is more fun than ever
I play this game simply because it’s fun
It s bad because the game have so many potentiel and i love this game
Most of Reddit does not say lights are overpowered. Only not so bright people think that
I think this is a very common issue but i think the solution comes down to fun, light is popular because its simply fun to play, therefore more people think its op cuz they see it often. it's a difficult situation to be in for embark but i think making heavy more fun can be an easy solution to making balance better for casuals and then we can tweak numbers for comp side when every class is equally enjoyable
@@Appoh especially since as you said before, recoil for many of the heavy guns are pretty ridiculous for casual players. I almost never see lewis in my matches lately, even if the gun is really strong because casual players usually don't want to deal with R6 Siege levels of recoil
fix the packet loss and add an actual crosshair, dropping the entire magazine in a single enemy at 5 centimeters with 0 damage is not normal
fix the matchmaking I can't be carrying animals with 0 kills or hard trolling (like having 0 kills or less than 2 it's not hard trolling already) and losing due to them
remove every free AFK bs like turrets, mines, stun gun, and gas spam so people actually have to use their brain in order to kill
add a +1 damage to every weapon so there's not someone always at 1HP
remake bank it with different objectives so it's not a light simulator
and make microtransactions actually micro, not game priced transactions in the store, done I saved The Finals in my mind now they have to do it in real life (they will not)
@@ronin_fpsalso, remove almost every nerf to weapons embark has done, I don't want another overwatch situation where they break every characters's legs instead of buffing everyone to make everything usefull and fun to play
Like, what's the point if I can't Flex that shit you know? what's the point if I can't be like I'm top 500 and something and then they'll be like "what?"
One of the reason Apex got boosted are Japanese (and VTubers) playing it.
If your passionate, viewers will come. Kind of the old school youtube philosophy. Playing a game to try and earn money quickly isn't the right mindset
The issue with matchmaking and balancing, If i am matched perfectly, but use a weapon i'm not as good with, then matchmaking seems off even if it is just me choosing a different weapon.
It really is too bad to see the downward state of the game, but like you, I will also try to continue to support this game until the servers shutdown.
They removed the whole thing that made the game, being ranked tournaments. They literally put wallhacks into the game, as an ability called recon. They literally killed the game, right at the start and now in the end. Epic Fail!
very well put
