    Thanks for teaching us all GPU repair. These cards are all throw away e-waste. I've been through a lot of them over the years and sometimes wished I had a better hobby like mud trucks or something. It's nice to know we may have a generation of integrated board and circuit repair specialists being born from watching your content.

      @@users-bibi50 that depends entirely on what you’re doing, it’s generally agreed that any money you put into a vehicle in modifications, you’ll never get it back when you sell it. Only some vehicles maintain value, and even then it’s only if the mileage is low and condition still good, some cars rise in value, but unless you’re rich enough to buy a limited edition super car, it’s gonna take 10-15 years to see any real value gained. You might be able to flip cars for a profit, but you could do that with hardware too. You can get a good return on top end hardware, anything but the best doesn’t hold value well usually, as long as you sell it before or immediately after the release of the next generation of hardware.

    A little tip: A hair dryer set on its full fan speed and max temp will clean the flux under the gpu very well (its nozzle must be used to focus air flow under the gpu). You will see the flux get melted (liquified if you wish) and get out from the gpu and from under the memory chips if you want to clean them too.
    Thank you so much for making such a very instructive video.

I have a zotac 2080 with the same symptoms you had, but I cant decide its a gpu or a memory problem. The memory is samsung, and just a little bit brownish, nvmt and mats pass just fine, but mods detect assertion failure. When driver loads sometimes its give signal, but black screen, sometimes dont give signal at all. What do you think, should I just reball the core, or I need to do something with the memory?

      @dosomethingstudio1906 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joenamcoutinho3371 The HDMI thing is intresting. Investigate it as soon as you can, because the hdmi data lines are comeing straight from the gpu. If you miss datalines its very likely that the gpu lost connection with the pcb pads, and if the hdmi balls are lost connection, probably other balls are lost connection too, so its can cause the main problem. The 2080 hdmi balls are pretty close to the pci, so I think its make sense now.

      @@northwestrepair It's a 2080ti man xD it even identified as one in your video :P Correct your video title xD Cheers and thank you for your content, i have learned a lot from your content... I was able to fix a friend's 1060 with a sorted mosfet the other day... No fuse, the card got 12v straight to the core more than 10 times and it still worked and still works like a charm...

    How driver install causes this?

    • @northwestrepair
      @northwestrepair  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn't, it exposes an issue.
      Parts of the GPU are not accessed without drivers.

    • @kanshashiteiru6552

      @@northwestrepair so my understanding is that the drivers allow to access certain Hardware features, and this part of the hardware was already faulty before the new drivers. Is this correct?

      @@northwestrepair also i have a question that I couldn’t find answer to. I have RTX 2060 6GB laptop, can i somehow add extra VRam to it? If so does it need new drivers to access the extra VRam?

    • @DoodieSmoothie
      @DoodieSmoothie ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kanshashiteiru6552 adding vram is a lot harder than adding regular RAM. I think it doesnt work because of how they are designed. If it was a thing that was easy to do, there would be more videos about it, but i dont think ive seen one.

      @@kanshashiteiru6552 and for your other question, yes. The driver finds the issue. Without the driver, the GPU is not fully working to its potentional.

    You should keep working without complaining that you don't get constant subscriptions and your video views aren't steadily increasing. I've been on TH-cam for a long time and have observed the "evolution" of many channels. Anyone who made an effort to be relatable is all popular on TH-cam these days, whether it took them 5 months or 5 years. You're relatively new to being a content creator and you've NOT LITTLE subs AT ALL. The most important thing is that your videos have a very positive reception from your existing viewers, which means you have the skills and abilities to do this technical job. The success you desire will come in time, sooner or later. But, please: don't complain anymore... it doesn't make a good impression. You're a grown man and you shouldn't behave like a little kid who wants his favorite toy from the mall as a present from his parents. You can of course claim that your TH-cam viewers don't bring you any income... that it's not worth it for you to spend so much time shooting and editing the videos, but... your TH-cam channel cares about your popularity. Thus your work will reach a large audience and ultimately you will achieve a significantly higher number of repair orders over time. Good luck my dear.
