It's always such a great day when I can watch your newly released video. I love your videos so much, ladies, and your stitching and projects are so beautiful. Thank you so much for all the insights and inspiration. Your Scarlett House piece is looking amazing.
Such sweet words, Lorraine. Thank you. Carolyn and I continue to have a lot of fun making videos together - it is a bonding activity for us. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Hello, fellow teacher! What do you teach? Carolyn and I have been enjoying our February Breaks this week. Not a lot of stitching going on but having a lot of fun with the grandkids! Happy Crafting, Judith! -Anna
Another fun time. Love it all. Your stitchings, your comarodary, you both have such fun together. Nothing like a sister. Makes me miss my two. We do chat almost daily. Wishing you both great getaways. If you go anywhere near the Chesapeake Anna, think of me. Cute catwalk. Always makes me smile. Carolyn 's tile is lovely and your finish will make a great tile too. Until next time, safe journeys to you both, ❤ya, Donna
A wonderful morning treat! Loved everything. Carolyn, you continue to inspire me with your lacing. Anna, loved the tip for William Morris fabrics. Thanks for all you do.
Enjoy your holidays ladies! Another lovely learning journey. I started stitching during a time when i was having a very difficult struggle of the mind. It was a suggestion that i stitch from a councillor i had. He described it as being very meditative. I started stitching and at first it was hard because I hadn’t done it since i was a teen and my concentration was so poor, but then as time went on i found my self again, through cross stitch, and now i have my most peaceful moments, with my mind, when I’m stitching. It’s funny you mention the show “Dark.” My son got me on to that show and i loved it!!!
Love all your pieces and discussions! For future reference, that was a Mini Charm pack which measures 2.5", a charm pack measures 5". I have done so many project bags with the minis, they are so fun! .
You two are adorable and talented! The sweater and dress were both so amazing, and the catwalk was perfect! Great stitching and happy holiday (belated).
Oh my gosh!, Carolyn - I love your MFE 2023 Countdown piece and the finish is perfect. I’m going to have to go back and watch your finish comments again. Anna - your MFE finish is lovely and I love how you’re going to finish it too. I need to try that on my next project. I love your bowl full of baskets idea. How fun! Oh my - I would love to stitch my own sampler/story also - I’ve been thinking of that for a long time. I love Carmine’s Jacob Sleeper Sal - I want to start one too - Anna, I haven’t seen the chart you have chosen - it’s amazing. William Morris fabric is my fabric - I love all of it. Thanks for the great video today - you’ve both really made me curious. 🥰
So fun to hear this feedback, Peg! Have you chosen your Sleep SAL pattern yet? I've been playing with the words I want to use to replace the words on "Marvel Not." Happy Crafting! -Anna
You have such a nice selection of patterns on the go, and your finishes are beautiful. The "charm pack" surprised me. I was expecting packs of little metal charms, like cats, butterflies, etc. that are often added to cross stitch patterns. Your charm packs were so pretty, love William Morris, and your bag using the squares is gorgeous. Have fun on your travels, and happy stitching.
Haha! Sometimes a title for a video pops right into Carolyn's or my head and sometimes we get a little stuck on what to use. I'm already having so much fun with the William Morris fabrics - lots more fun ahead, too! Happy Crafting, Arleen! -Anna
Another fun flosstube ladies! Carolyn, an idea popped in my head for your North Pole Santa. In the mound where the words should be, maybe little curly-q's/swirls like at the top of his staff and the right upper border....in a slightly darker shade than the mound. It would still be a part of the design element, but subtle! Love both your wips and the catwalk (as always!). Sandy
So wonderful! Picked up so many tips and ideas. Love your dress/tee/leggings. I want to make a dress. Also, the tile finish is awesome! Love your thoughtful way of looking at things. Maybe it’s because you’re both teachers? Anyway thanks for a lovely hour.
I encourage you to make a dress. There are so many great patterns out there and it's so satisfying to wear something you make. I keep thinking about cross stitching on a handmade garment. I do think Carolyn's and my teaching styles factor into our videos - kind of interesting to think about. Happy Crafting, Allison! -Anna
That is what we love about you…you stay curious and don’t run out of ideas. For my Sleeper Sal I think I am going to try to do several smaller designs rather than one big….Peacock Tree is already purchased. Yes…I am planning out my own family sampler..I want to make minis for the individual families and then one overall design.
I like how horizontal "The Peacock Tree" is. Do you know what color floss you will use yet? Looking forward to seeing how your family sampler develops! I just learned how to use MacStitch, so a whole new world has opened up to me in terms of designing. Happy Crafting! -Anna
@@we.are.curiouscrafters I have ordered some Roxy floss for Peacock tree and will pick it up later in the week…I don’t think it will be monochromatic but I don’t know for sure until I see the thread. I watched a video about converting photos to cross stitch and am wondering about doing one of my father’s pictures. So much to stitch and so little time!
I always enjoy your stitching but thoroughly enjoy your thumbs up. This time the idea of your sixth grade heritage sharing was amazing. I am old enough to remember that we did not want to share our heritage. How wonderful that students are now encouraged to be proud of their heritage. Keep it up!! Enjoy your spring break (President Holiday). Also the Morris fabric is beautiful. Where did you get your tile stand?
It is always special when students share something about their family culture. Carolyn purchased her tile stands from several different Etsy shops that specialize in stained glass (to get the correct width in the slot in the stand). Happy Crafting, Carol! -Anna
Another great video, ladies! I love the tile finish, but my finishing skills are primitive, at best. :) Would you consider posting a tutorial on this tile finish for those of us who struggle with finishing? I love the simplicity of it!
Hi Nora! Several people have requested more information about Carolyn's finishing techniques. I'll ask her about the possibility of making an "extra" video. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Anna, Just for your information, the fabric you were using for your bag was a mini charm pack, which is 2 1/2 inch squares. A charm pack is 5 inch squares. Love the William Morris fabric!
Hi Carolyn!! For finishing the round ornaments, you could try the precut rounds that Fat Quarter Shop sells, in two sizes. They are cut from “sticky board” but you could just leave that paper lining on so that your piece doesn’t come in contact with the glue…I hope this helps! It’s always fun to see what you and Anna are up to…lovely stitching as always, and you always challenge and entertain us. Love it! Micki
Thanks for another wonderful video, ladies! I loooove all things William Morris! I bought a beautiful fabric from Morris & Co. to make curtains if I ever get it together to actually sew them!
I know that feeling (of having a plan for fabric)! I want to make a tunic out of William Morris fabric one of these days. Happy Crafting, Olivia! -Anna
Your videos always calm, inspire, and entertain. Thank you for sharing with us. I love the tile you made, Carolyn. I have been using that idea to finish a few projects, and even ordered some of those little stands. My corners do not look as great as yours, however. It seems like you talked about how you do your corners at one point. Maybe you could revisit that for us? Wm Morris fabrics. Yes. Love them. So sorry about your 49ers...I was thinking about you both last Sunday. Happy travels to both of you.
Thanks for thinking of us, Karen! Our extended family all watched the game together. I'd like to watch Carolyn's motion as she turns corners, to learn her technique. I'll ask her about how she'd like to show us all again with some more detail. :) Happy Crafting! -Anna
Ladies - this is not my idea - got it from a friend- in the bakery section at Michaels or Hobby House are round cake forms in standard sizes. I bought a bunch and use them when I need to lace a round piece. They are great for drums and pincushions too. Works like a charm!
Thanks, Kathy! I have not heard of this store before. I'm not sure what adventures Joan and I will go on - I just jotted down this idea. Happy Crafting! -Anna
So Caroline, I bit the bullet and I'm stitching 1 over 1 on 28 ct. I'm doing The With Love chart from M.F.E. I did not buy the kit but I bought the chart right after Christmas and I'm using Roxy Floss Co threads from my Evertote 2023 Advent calendar. I'm working on a Jobelan Evenweave. It is so tiny and I'm not sure I love it but I'm going to finish my piece for sure. Thanks for the inspiration.
Love those flat board finishes, am def going to give it a go now having watched you guys 😊 Love the William Morris fabric so much…went onto the site and loaded up my cart…it was quickly emptied when the shopping was £21 and shipping £24!!! Gonna source it in the UK
Hi Carolyn and Anna! Need your help! Carolyn, you were mentioning how you have become better at lacing and you had some method for marking the edges to keep things straight. Is there a tutorial available that shows this process? Have never laced before and want to try. I’d be grateful for the help ❤❤❤. You and Anna are lovely to watch. I’m happy to spend time with you spunky and cheerful women. Thank you so much.
Hi PJ. We used the Vonna Pfeiffer lacing tutorial that is at the start of her flat fold video. Carolyn and I also put a running stitch where the linen will hit the edge of the board. So, for instance, if we want a 1/2" border of linen on each side of the piece, we put a running stitch 1/2" away from the edges of the stitching. Happy Crafting! -Anna
I am a quilter and I love William Morris fabric. I created a WM project bag also with charm pack. A regular charm pack is 5" x 5" but your mini charm pack I assume is 2.5" x 2.5". Had not seen that in William Morris before. Love it and looking forward to see the end product.
Yes, the squares I have are 2.5". So cute! Now I just need to make sure the pieced front doesn't languish in the drawer and actually becomes a project bag - haha! Happy Crafting, Angela! -Anna
There are several pieces out there with with white pieces in them that are barely noticeable, but done on purpose. Maybe it required no correction what so ever
Hi Ladies- Another great video. I also find that stitching provokes deep thinking, calming thinking, taking my mind down trails of love and caring. I usually get deep in thoughts about loved ones and even just acquaintances and how our lives have grown together. Precious time spent stitching. Also, what is a sleeper pattern? I’ve never heard that term before. Enjoy your trips. 🎉
Beautiful description, Connie! We are using "sleeper pattern" to describe a chart that may have received some attention in the past and is now getting even more attention. Waking up, so to speak. I'm so excited to start what I have chosen! Happy Crafting! -Anna
I was waiting to see if you would bring up the color changes in Scarlet Berries, Anna. I started on the green, red line where there is also a chart oops, and then I found the color differences. It was frustrating to decide which way to go because I was drawn to the chart because of the color pallette as pictured. I like your choice because it appears softer, but I chose to follow the picture version. We'll have to compare the two when they're finished!
I was also surprised when I noticed the color differences. It's interesting that we chose two different paths. I like your idea about comparing! Happy Crafting, Tammy! -Anna
I look forward to your videos. They don't seem too long to me. I am doing repetitive sewing as I watch. Funny my tablet is set up on the small edge of my ironing board as I sew nearby. I had to stop and jot down notes a few times. I enjoyed the quaker pieces most. It is surprising to see such a large piece stitched with white on a dark linen. Do you have any suggestions for getting the white floss to look good? Have your stitches improved? Maybe since it is the only color, it looks good? I think they will be stunning!
Haha - ironing boards come in handy! I started "The Fruits of Plenty" when I was just coming back to stitching and was unaware of the possible challenges of stitching on dark fabric with light thread. I don't have any particular advice. My stitches are not perfect, but they are regular enough that they don't catch my eye in a distracting way. I don't see a difference between the first stitches from a few years ago and my stitches now - Carolyn thinks her stitches have become more even and regular. I have always liked the "lacey" look the white stitches have. Happy Crafting, Chris! -Anna
Cut the neck of the sweater and do an Icord cast off in the contrast colour. And cygnets are grey...maybe the little one could be grey and the bigger one outlined in grey I just finished MFEs GBH 1848. It's a fun one but the wee flowers in the border are 4 colours each!!!!!. The other GBH (1857) is the same person but a later sampler she stitched, not a sister
Loved the episode as usual. Thanks for sharing the tile finish. Will definitely try it. If you want to explore more about the meditative aspect of stitching this is a great listen. Fiber Talk Meditates, 10-11-20 TH-cam.

I really enjoyed your discussion about lacing. I picked up a couple of useful tips. Where are you getting the stands for your "tiles"? Keep on floss tubing!
Carolyn purchased her tile stands from several different Etsy shops that specialize in stained glass (to get the correct width in the slot in the stand). Happy Crafting, Norma! -Anna
We actually did not go away for New Years this year -- Anna had family visiting. Instead we used the $$$ in our finish jar to pay for our hotel when we went to Arizona in April to visit the Attic. It was wonderful having a "free" place to stay. Happy Crafting! -Carolyn
Enjoy you two so much , your one of my favorites. Question: school house red silk is it Tudor silk , silk floss and where did you get your brown paper. Take care
Hi Yvonne -- Schoolhouse Red is a Glorianna silk and Brown Paper is an XJuDesigns linen. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I purchased the linen from Kitten Stitcher. Happy Stitching! -Carolyn
For the white swan, I have found the whitest white is Colour & Cotton’s Pearl White. I found this through a lot of trial and error. If that does not work, also consider using an off-white like aomething with a light blue or light gray tint white.
Hi … your tile stand … please can I ask where you got it? On Amazon I can only find table number holders and the slot looks too narrow. Maybe I am using the wrong search phrase? Thank you
Hi Fiona! Carolyn purchased her tile stands from several different Etsy shops that specialize in stained glass (to get the correct width in the slot in the stand). Happy Crafting! -Anna
Hi Jan! Carolyn purchased her tile stands from several different Etsy shops that specialize in stained glass (to get the correct width in the slot in the stand). Happy Crafting! -Anna
Hi Wilma. That sampler is one from Carolyn's husband's side of the family. Carolyn had a photograph of it and she charted it on MacStitch so she could stitch it. So presently it is a private sampler with no public chart. Isn't it pretty?! Happy Crafting! -Anna
You two continue to create such wonderful flosstubes! Thanks for the thought about lacing right off the little ball of perle cotton. Duh! Seems so obvious but I'd never thought of it. Of course, I have 2 kittens (7 1/2 months old) so would have to be careful...! As for creating your own sampler, you might check out what Deb of Country Stitchers has been working on. She's making what she calls her "montage" with motifs taken from assorted sources (including books of motifs and alpha-numeric motifs). She's personalized it in many ways over time. It's *huge* (on scroll rods) -- but you need'nt make it so. th-cam.com/video/urVl1G_zZGo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VpdpgFtEljPte0k4
Thanks for pointing us in the direction of Deb's montage. We have admired it as it has grown. Country Stitches was one of the first FlossTubes Carolyn found when she started being interested in cross stitch. Happy Crafting! -Anna

And cygnets are grey...maybe the little one could be grey and the bigger one outlined in grey
I just finished MFEs GBH 1848. It's a fun one but the wee flowers in the border are 4 colours each!!!!!. The other GBH (1857) is the same person but a later sampler she stitched, not a sister
Just found your "GBH 1843" finish! It's SO pretty, Robyn! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Loved the episode as usual. Thanks for sharing the tile finish. Will definitely try it. If you want to explore more about the meditative aspect of stitching this is a great listen. Fiber Talk Meditates, 10-11-20 TH-cam.
Thanks for the recommendation, Edna. I'm looking forward to listening. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Always fun watching you two! Where did you purchase the stand that you used on your Holiday Countdown piece?
Carolyn purchased her tile stands from several different Etsy shops that specialize in stained glass (to get the correct width in the slot in the stand). Happy Crafting, Tracey! -Anna
Thank you!@@we.are.curiouscrafters
I really enjoyed your discussion about lacing. I picked up a couple of useful tips. Where are you getting the stands for your "tiles"? Keep on floss tubing!

@@we.are.curiouscrafters thank you for the information. I had not thought of something used for stained glass! You are both so creative!
Did you go away for New Years and stitch, stitch, stitch? Did you use your “finish jar” for special treats?
-Carolyn
@@we.are.curiouscrafters Carolyn , thank you I will check out kitten stitcher. Didn't know I'd silk was Tudor silk. Thanks
For the white swan, I have found the whitest white is Colour & Cotton’s Pearl White. I found this through a lot of trial and error. If that does not work, also consider using an off-white like aomething with a light blue or light gray tint white.
Thanks, Debora! I don't think Carolyn or I have tried that color before. Happy Crafting! -Anna
-Anna
Enjoyed your video! 😊 What was the name of the fabric store online that sells the smaller pieces of nice fabrics, please?
Hi Linda! I purchased the quarter yards of fabric from Morris Textiles (link below). Happy Crafting! -Anna

Where can I pick up the Yai yai sampler. We call my granddaughter Yai Yai . Thanks
Hi Wilma. That sampler is one from Carolyn's husband's side of the family. Carolyn had a photograph of it and she charted it on MacStitch so she could stitch it. So presently it is a private sampler with no public chart. Isn't it pretty?! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Has anyone hung their put flosses on a drying rack so that they are all so visible all the time? Ayyyyyye?
Is that how you store your flosses? Happy Crafting! -Anna
Oh wow, I am so excited I won that beautiful project. I am going to send you an email with my info. Thank you so much!
Looking forward to getting the project out to you! Happy Crafting, Jeryn!
-Anna
