  • You learn to build customized blog page layouts on the Kadence theme. In this tutorial we cover using the theme customizer to display your posts. This can be used to display all your blogs, and also display individual blog categories. We also show an another method of displaying posts using the Gutenberg editor and the 'latest posts' block - this allows us to build additional blog grid and blog list layouts on any page. This is useful if you want add additional content to a blog page, or if you want to add the 'latest posts' to your home page for example.
    This was all done using the free version of Kadence, but the pro version provides a TON of extra functionality, it's worth checking out here: ideaspot.com.au/kadence

    Great video. In the section where you clone a page and turn it into the "marketing" page, are you essentially creating a custom category page? If we do this, do we then need to do a redirect from the default category page that Wordpress will have created?

    Hi nice tutorial.. but when I am manually customising the blog page, it is ok in block editor but the main blog page is not changing. The main page is changing when I'm changing anything from appearance . But by block editor it is not working...😓

    how does one customize a post then save the whole post layout as a template for repeat use in Gutenberg (e.g., featured image, heading, subheading, bullet points)?

    • @IdeaSpot

    Is it possible to a) add posts to the homepage using the basic Kadence Theme or b) add text to the latest posts page?

  • @StephenCDayton

    Thank you for this video. You earned a subscriber!
    I learned a couple of new things which is great. I was, however, hoping your tutorial would cover what I feel is either a huge missing feature in Kadence or is a bug. Perhaps you could enlighten me? I installed Kadence and added the "Recent Posts" block to my homepage, but I wanted the background of the block to be dark while using white text and having a light gold color for the links. But shockingly the "Latest Post Block" doesn't have an option to change link colors, so the theme is using a default black link text which means I can't use a dark background color AND because the link text matches the regular text no one will ever know the links exist!
    I did see that there was an option to change link text in the outer Row Layout Block and in the editor it "appears" to work but if I save the changes it does not show up on the actual site (yes I refreshed) so that option clearly doesn't work to change Recent Post Block link colors. Do you know if Kadence has any way to change the Recent Post Block link colors?

      Hi, This is in the pro version: themes.kadencethemes.com/ascend-premium-10/post-grid-carousel/
      The free version just uses the standard wordpress 'latest posts' block which doesn't have a lot of styling options as you've noticed - but you can still style it using CSS if you'd like a free solution.

    Are Kadence posts faster to load than posts using Gutenberg Blocks?

    • @IdeaSpot
      @IdeaSpot  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Should be about the same, the number of posts & images you want to display will be the main factor rather than which template you choose here
