The 20th anniversary of Chocolate was August 2014 after spawning from Girl skateboards, who Koston was an original team member for along with Guy Mariano (who was 14 when he skated in Blind: Video Days) and they both departed Girl in 2015 (2015 is a departure from 2014) and they started a company called NUMBERS!

What made me interested with Chocolate was exactly that, they had a multi-cultural team. And yes, worth celebrating indeed.
It certainly wasn't multi-cultural. Like all skateboard teams it was entirely mono-cultural. It just didn't have any white people.
Girl always had the best skits though from goldfish to mouse to the nostalgic pogo stick skit. Chocolate and mouse have made some of the best skateboard videos to date

Marc Johnson is my favorite. His part on Yeah Right was so iconic; the tricks, the style, the music. Definitely has had an impact on my skating even nowadays. I should rewatch it more often. Great video, good job 👍

Being a Black kid 2001, skateboarding in LA was kind of shunned. Being introduced to Stevie and Keenan changed my life. I became even more in love with skateboarding. True story: when Keenan passed away, I wrote a letter to Girl's office in Torrance and they sent me a pack of stickers.
That's a cool story, thanks for sharing. 🙏 Interesting to hear many pros have similar stories of growing up feeling like an outsider.

I literally just got my first tattoo yesterday! It's from Mike Vallely's skateboard company Street Plant. It's the shoe nailed to the skateboard. The way its described is dedication. Dedication to skateboarding. No matter what I've been through skateboarding has always given me a place to rest and to be at peace. It helps me to enjoy life.

I'm no skateboarding technical expert, but I want to say a lot of talk about trucks being loosened/tightened on various types of skates and skateboards may help wtih wheels not spinning right, or bearing replacement, or who knows I'd find local skateshop to greet, take to and explore.

I have a ZY logo tattoo. Unfortunately the brand fell out like we all know, but the times will live forever when Zoo York had its glory. Brandon Westgate, Forrest Kirby, Harold Hunter (which I got to meet in person at MIA Skateshop before he passed), Zered Bassett, Chad Ortiz, Danny Supa!!! Those were some of my best days!!

I have the Enjoi panda tattooed on my lower right arm and the Popwar bunny left shoulder 😂 I’m still skating a lot at 33 so I don’t regret them. In fact the reason I got them was to keep me skating.

I remember meeting Devine Calloway when he was on Chocolate, which is where my love for my brand started when he shot me a spare deck. The wood, the pop, the shape everything just felt right. Ever since then its been nothing but Girl/Chocolate decks for me 👊🏽

Ok so 1997ish and my pal had this Chocolate hat that was all blackflexi-fit of course back then.) and it had a single Hershey's Kiss on the back. He lost it at a Too Short/ ICP concert. Never saw one again anywhere. Probably cease and desist from Hershey's.

to answer your tattoo question i got a tattoo from every skateboard brand that i like, including the logo of my own brand, i kinda like almost all skateboard brands so it got a lot of skateboard logos tattooed more than i can list here. the reason is that is just fucking love skateboarding and i owe skateboarding so much!!!!

Lol my 1st tat was a spitfire flamehead on my leg , I always resonated with the lil dude and it holds legend logo status like blinds baby reaper, but the main reason is probably because I’d rock the shirt in high school and my friend (a girl who knew nothing about skating but was usually down for hijinx hah) loved it and was like “ur hair is messy and u kinda have like fangs ... it’s you .. you’re the fire baby” and that was fucking awesome!
