"Now is the time for you to you to improve today by doing little bits of things...." Brilliant. I'm sort of enamoured with skill acquisition and "getting better incrementally by doing little bits of things" is a key concept whether you're getting better at playing an instrument, learning to do jiu jitsu, learning to speak a new language, or learning how to do tricks on a small plank of wood with wheels. Another great video Ben.

I had 3 toy machine decks with that shape. I always get bummed out when I get this shape (because I order online blindly on the shape). But it never affected my skating. But Ben, you are the only one in the internet who did a review on this shape. You’re the best, man. I’ve skated for 15 years but I learned a lot about set-ups from you.

DUDE DO IT!!!!! I turned 32 June 11th and decided to goto the skatepark after an 8 year break of not skating. The first few weeks were super rough from past injuries and age but after that I felt amazing. I've lost like 10-12 lbs since I started skating again.
Skateboarding is so important for some people. I honestly believe some people NEED to skate to function properly. Skateboarding has brought so much joy back into my life and it's a better outlet for my anger/aggression/life frustrations now than ever before. Because as you know being an adult can be extremely stressful.
Get back on your board and skate within your limits! I saw a 62 year old man at the skatepark and he was still shredding a 13ft half pipe with 2 ft of vert. (His name is Mark Lake he has some vids on here, check him out). We talked about skating into your older age and how more skaters NEED to get back into it.

I have a K20 248 Powell Peralta. It tapers down to nearly 1/8 towards the tail and a bit less towards the nose. I love it! It feels the same as a regular one and looks a bit oval, which is interesting. Another good fact is that 144 trucks are hard to get and my new deck, being labelled as 8 25 matches 139 trucks perfectly. I enjoy your reviews!

I remember riding these tapered shapes in the early 2000s a lot. I specifically remember an alien workshop and element with a big full shape nose that tapered down to a pointy tail. I remember 360 flips being really nice on these boards. I want to try this shape now. I think I have a G057 next I think.

I exclusively skate tapered decks, Blind RHM to be specific. Advertised as 7.75, however tapers down to 7.5 at the front bolts and even less on the nose. I love it for quick snappy flicks with still a decent bit of room for back foot catches. Also allows to use to board backwards for certain tricks like casperstalls to help slow that spin down.

Happy to see this review of the G052 shape, im skating right now a Girl G027 (with thunder 148 team titanium and tablet 52 101)and really like it.The G027 have 14 inch wheelbase 31.750 long and the tail goes to 8.06 to 8.25 in the front and i read that the G052 have more concave. I didn't feel the difference in the width too.For me the new wood feel more stiff than Baker kindish board. I would try other shape from girl board i think is a great product too.

i bought a girl deck back in 2013 that was an 8.25 but measured closer to an 8.125. the nose was around 6.75, the tail 7in, and 14in wb.. it held the width from the nose to the back truck where it tapered to an 8. i think they still make that shape, but i couldn't stand it. the tail felt small cuz it was very tapered and also very mellow. i had 149 indy standards which obviously i know now did not help. i tried thunder lights on it but this was a little before thunder came out with a "high" truck. Venture highs definitely would have been the way to go on that one. I totally agree trucks are like tools and you need the right one for the job. I've been riding the same shape for the past 4 months, I'm on my 3rd and have a fourth waiting. It skate great with thunders, indy, and ventures, magical shape (mike andersons custom, 8.38x32, 14.2wb, 7nose, 6.75 tail, full shape) :):) love the videos, love nerding out on skate.

  • @jwest88
    @jwest88 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Set up a Quasi 8.75 yesterday. I was hoping it to be more squared like a FA, but it still feels really good. The nose looks a bit short but seems to skate fine and the flatground nose mannies I did at the beginning of my runs felt really good. I'm hoping I have a good manual point. Sore, but going to get some skating in today and maybe work on some manuals and stuff. That ending, :). Although I don't like pickles that was still funny.

It’s a sick shape. It just freaking goes.

My board got a super big chip on the kickflip side of the nose, i sanded it down 1.5 inches and also did the other side too so it will be balanced, then i squared the nose and tail because i had the razor sharp, i tought i was gonna ruin the board, but half session in i completelly forgot and was able to skate as good, it even made nose slide out tricks easier because i was able to grab the side of the nose with my toea without having to readjust anything, the only problem is that if you take too much material out of the nose or tail sidea you mesa with the concave that givea the board flex and resiatance to tension, in concecuence i lost all pop in the nose so i can do tricks with the board backwards, it feels and performs like im skating a waterlogged single ply wood, in conclusion you can mess with a board shape to get a few weeks more out of it, but you will loose some or many tricks in the process, but its good when you are short in money or time to set up a new deck.

I'm checking your videos out and trying to find a deck review with 1.5 fingers of flat for the tail .. I bought a board online and when I received it , turned out to be a weird board. Bummed.

Size doesn’t not matter, everyone have a different preference! As long as you got style and able handle the size. Don’t listen to what people say which size is better, try it yourself!!

Fingers of flat is the new universal method of measuring distance. Wont lie, i expected you to use a funnel instead of letting the brine drip

Do you think thunder 149s would be too wide for this deck due to the taper? I have been riding the 149s on various 8.25 decks but none with a taper.

did u get the deck and if so was it working all good (i got the same question)

@@visalsngg sorry for the late reply. I did end up getting the deck but I bought new trucks also. I got Ace 44 trucks which are 8.35" wide and it worked pretty well. the 8.5 might be a little wide but seems pretty doable
