I live on Queensway, and have done so for 25 years. I treasure your maps and insights. My building on the earlier map was called "Rifle Terrace"; it was built as a real estate investment by James Purdy of Purdy & Sons Guns & Rifles (still lives on today).

Thank you so much for this video! This is my favourite part of the city. Much appreciated.

I lived in East London in the late 1980s to late 1990s and visited the West of the city quite a lot, I now live in Lancashire. I'm surprised at the lack of traffic in your videos of West London, is this just a thing that's happened since the introduction of ULEZ? Because there's less traffic there than there is here in a small market town in Lancashire.
I really enjoy these vidos, thanks for posting.

Complicating things, this video was shot in late 2022. Too early for outer London ulez but too late for Covid lockdown

a lot of interesting restaurants in the area. Malay food, as well as Indonesian, is wonderful. Queensway is worthy of an explore

Interesting to learn Bayswater Road was considered part of Uxbridge Road. How far did it go, Marble Arch/Tyburn area?

I used to live in Bayswater, I owned a studio flat which I bought for £35,000. (Yes, it was a very long time ago, the mid-1980s.) Back in the day, it was quite the haunt of prostitutes especially around the phone booths on Porchester Gardens, though they'd appear from time to time on Inverness Terrace, which was where I lived. Sometimes they'd feel your mens' parts as a taster of what was on offer. (Not that I ever took them up on that, I'm far too mean to pay for it...)
One night, we (me and my girlfriend, now wife) were heading home from the West End to Inverness Terrace on the old Routemaster Bus; we were overtaken by speeding fire engines and emergency vehicles. When we got off the bus, Inverness Terrace had been closed off; fre engines and hoses everywhere. It transpired that the old Nigerian Embassy at the top of Inverness Terrace had gone up in flames. It had been used as a squat and one of the inhabitants had taken it upon himself to douse the place in petrol and then set it all on fire.
    Happy days!
