Dramatic change to the Salon at Château Trois Cloches

It's so EXCITING to finally see a dramatic change when we spray paint the Salon with Mylands stunning Bond Street paint. It was a risk going this dark in the room, but it's a big space and we were sure it could take it!
The room was missing something, and we felt it needed a bit more architectural interest given its size so we installed some new wall panelling, and the room began to transform and take on a new elegance. We wanted an opulence that punched you in the face, and think we got it! :) But we also get up to so much more in this vlog....
We strip the HUGE double doors that lead onto the Orangery which was a really tough job made much easier and safer with KlingStrip given to us by ⁠Strippers Paint Removers (see info below).
Finally we finish the much laboured over Parquet floor with Mylands Light Oak Stain and Matt Satin Varnish which gives the room an incredible finished result. This was all completed around visits from various family members. First Jolyon's Mum, Sister, her partner and Nephew visited for the King's Coronation, then Jolyon's brother Max and his wife Georgia visit and help with some jobs outside the Château before they leave on a world tour.

The end goal is to have a beautiful venue available for big groups to hire, or the perfect location for a wedding! I did laugh when I saw Jolyon’s expression putting the paint stripper gunge on, it reminded me of Nigella Lawson when she plays with double cream, same expression 😂 at least the paint came off & the wood looks great! Glad to see you wore helmets on the scaffolding. Even if they weren't actually hardhats, they are better than nothing. It may seem a bother to wear safety glasses, but I'd hate to either of you injured. Work safe. There, that's my Mom nagging done.
It must have been wonderful to host your family for the coronation. It wasn't such a big deal in Canada, though he's our king too. Lol. I do like the colour you chose for the salon, though I'd never be brave enough to go that dark. The floor looks luscious, too. No one would ever guess Chris' foot went right through it.

I was wrapt when you got the safety goggles. Of course safety first 👍 The colour blue of that room is really nice. Exciting to see whether you’ll be adding guilding or a different blue on the trim, etc. Or wallpaper?

I am puzzled about the time frame of this video, given the coronation was more than a year ago? Also, did Jolyon's brother have a knee injury or was that a cunning device to avoid climbing up the scaffolding 😊?

Yes this content is quite old. Because of the TV show we have to delay publishing our content until after it has aired. We’ve also been so busy with the DIY we’ve not had the time to edit the videos lately. Yeah Max had a bad knee, or at least that’s what he told us 😅
