    There are free bath layout templates available to help with designing a bathroom, with standard recommended spacing, to prevent regrettable choices. Might be worth checking them out. It must be so discouraging to damage a lovely bathroom wall when other parts of your chateau still need work. But as you said, an ensuite bath makes the pink room far more inviting than a shared bath, so needs must. Crack on!

    Hola from Ecuador! We’ve lived in high rise condominiums for decades, so we can’t offer advice - only encouragement!

    Put the bath in the middle of the room in between the 2 windows and leave the sink as they are but great work guys

    Is the new sink going to be right beside the door?? A decent size shower is more used in 2024. Place templates around the room to see how everything would work, Use those sinks some where else. The sinks look fine but perhaps the surround could be changed. This is the new age now where people try and come up with clever ideas to keep and use. Have a good think and play around with templates before you jack hammer into sinks etc. Cheers you two remember slow and steady no regrets. Watching from Australia.

      Thanks great ideas, yes we’ve saved the sinks and hope to use them in the stables when we get to renovating that building.

    I love watching you both, your expressions, especially when Jolyon goes off on a fantasy & Chris can see all the additional work in his mind, like a new ceiling mentioned 😂, you need one who has a bit of fantasy in this restoration job though! I’m better on the practical side & find the artistic side more difficult. I remember I installed a loo in my first house, I tested the soil pipe, not realising my stepfather was holding the pipe coming out the wall, he got drenched 😂💦💦 John in Monmouth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

      OMG that’s hilarious! I hope it was just water you were testing the pipe with? 😂

    Can you include a plan of your house and when you’re working on a room, just give a quick flash of the plan to give a heads up as to where it is that you’re talking about? I’d really appreciate that

      We included some plans for the tour videos if you haven’t seen them yet. The bathroom is on the first floor. Will add a plan for the bathroom in the next video as we finally decided on how to arrange it!

    You should try a tubby bath. They are amazing and so comfy.

      We’ll try and reuse them in the stables when we get to renovating it but they aren’t old/original sinks

    What about a shower over the bath in like a wet room look with glass around it, that way you have more flexibility in terms of the vanity

      Chris wasn’t keen. Also a bit tricky for less able bodied guests. We sussed it though and worked out away to fit both in 👍🏻

      Shower bath combos whilst space saving are so dangerous, So many accidents....people slip not just elderly.

    • @chateautroiscloches
      @chateautroiscloches  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep this is one reason why Chris has been so adamant on having a separate shower and bath as combos aren’t great for those who aren’t that able bodied.

    I cant believe you are getting rid of those beautiful sinks.Hope you are at least going to sell them so someone can use and appreciate them.

      @chateautroiscloches  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They are fairly modern and not original to the house but we won’t throw them away. Hopefully we’ll be able to use them when we renovate the stables in a couple of years

    Why dont you put the bath across the corner of the room and put the toilets back to back on the wall reduce the size of the sink area

    • @chateautroiscloches
      @chateautroiscloches  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not far off what we have done in the end. Great thinking!

    I cannot believe how you are going about ‘designing’ this room. Why on earth would you demolish things BEFORE you investigate? Are you going to insulate the walls between the two rooms? For sound at least?? Good luck. Look forward to seeing it finished..😊 I don’t think the window between is a good idea - when one bathroom’s light is turned on?!?!? Just put a sensor light in the other ensuite that comes on with movement!?

    • @chateautroiscloches
      @chateautroiscloches  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately investigation required a fair amount of demolishing but stay tuned to see how it all works out 😁😉
