Neo-Soul Guitar a.k.a. BUTTERFINGERS
'Cause all of these were damn smooth.
🤣
Lol hahahah!!
But "butter fingers" means some one who is clumsy .
Haha couldn't have said it better myself 😂
There's something abut RNB and Soul music, everybody wants to be a part of it.
So true.
Soul
watching this makes me think either to stop playing guitar or practice much harder
I was thinking the same thing!! These guys are unreal!!
The ladder
Ima practice
Definitely practice harder.
Practice way harder... it'll pay off
What an honour to be mentioned alongside these legends. You sir, are too kind! Again, love the video!
You deserve it
It happens that you're good.. that's why... but yeah.. been humble is also cool...
You're an amazing guitarist and composer Kristof!
Yours was my favourite not trying too hard, just a vibe

Fr though brother 😎
Neo soul can't leave, it's sound is timeless
FOR ANYONE WONDERING WHAT THE SONG AT 0:43 IS ITS
Achmad Satria - try out.
Thankyou!
I seen Melanie Faye and I clicked as fast I could
LISTEN..!
She really is the best right now, another level.
They all sound cool but her tone....is a smooth guitar player's dream.
@@jasper36 eh, debatable
She’s is why i clicked to
All that these beautiful neo-soul riffs need is anthemic vocals and song structure to go down in history, like “Little Wing”, “Wind Cries Mary”, “Tears In Heaven”, “Move On Up”, “Who’s That Lady”, and other scorching guitar-driven classics.
airmanchairman.
Yes, but they have to start somewhere.
Jimi is the Man.
Fr my brother!!!! 😁👌🏾👍🏾
Yes and Lenny~Stevie Ray Vaughn
Like what is John mayer in 2022?nothing new.
How's no one mentioning Curtis Mayfield, jimis main inspiration and one of the originators of this stuff!! Check him out!

Your comment deserves more likes
@@leonardoleal5092 Good work mate. Who fancies ID the songs?
mf straight up copied my comment from 2 years ago and got a heart
I'm a cranky middle-aged guy who doesn't like new stuff (generally speaking). I absolutely love this music and style! This is the first I'm hearing of it and it's nothing short of glorious and magical! I salute all of these mad-talented folks who are doing their thing! Thank you for taking music into the future!
2:20 unreal!!
At first I thought it was the Pen Pineapple, Apple Pen
Improvised? Oof
Palm Muting high notes.
What's the tune? My guess is U Remind Me by Usher but could be wrong
@@XYZLMNOP yah we know it's amazing because its tricky to do that and have all the notes sound clear at the same time
The first two players pulled my heartstrings... liquid melodic !
I appreciate all of these people, such beautiful music creation. You're all amazing and cheers Simon for the compilation.
0:00, 0:41 and 12:47 are the best in my opinion...
I agree with 12:47, but replace the first two time stamps with Kerry Marshall and Melanie Faye 😋
First one has a full lush smooth style, second guy is a young talent with great ideas, third guitar player has the groove, forth player has the classic soul sounds. All of these sample bits tell us there is an emerging guitar style to look out for.
First guy is playing wrong or right by blxst
Ouuuuuuuuugh... That's hot man. Pretty dope reaction at 2:01 my heartbeat was reaching a climax.
Thanks for sharing that Simon !
Glad you enjoyed it!
BRUTAL intros that i love:
0:41 Achmad Satria
6:10 Beau Diakawicz
7:41 Todd Pritchard
And Just cacth you by feeling:
9:17 Tom Misch
13:21 Melanie Faye (she is pretty and umbeatable)
Nice compilation!
do not agree
This is Gold, thanks you so much for putting this together Simon !
My pleasure!
Best : 00:46 Achmad / 8:05 Kaspar / 9:17 Tom Misch / 11:41 Todd Prichard /
Kasper Jalil is NICE !
these are so beautiful
My girl melanie faye deserves to be the cover🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽 u go I'm proud of uuuuu
💯🎯💯
Her part was one of my favorites to be honest. Beautiful melody
This is so encouraging to see all these awesome players of all ages.
I 've just listened music today for the first time.
This is the best video in all of TH-cam.
This is what I listen to whenever I need to zone out or I'm in my feelings
All of these are beautiful
Such talent and soulful musicians. This is what practice sounds like and putting you heart in it.
that second guitarist. i need to know how to play that
I think it combined tapping and fingerstyle. Kinda like victor wooten uses slapping and tapping
@@plaash7396 yea i also noticed that. but is that a song or an improvisation? because it looks dope
just went to this guy instagram and he has a tutorial! check it out: @satria_stm
Andrew learn Mateus Asato’s licks and tricks.
Satria is improvising or is a song?
I would like to have that song guys 😢
Thanks for compiling these.
I watch this about once or twice every week to keep me motivated.

Tom Misch!!!! So very soulful! Also , his silky smooth voice with a hint of accent is so very cool !
First one was in Rod waves album. song called Close Enough to hurt
the satria phrasing is so much feeling flowing
5:58 chills all over ugh
I feel you.
th-cam.com/video/TGF2C-yxw8Y/w-d-xo.html
Todd's "Ay" is the most chill sound in the universe.
Kaspar jali... Really got my full att.
This is much needed while I’m quarantined in the house during this time
Life is simple.....I see Melanie Faye, I Click.
Word, her jawn was so smooth
Same my brother 🤣👌🏾👍🏾
Certain stuff you feel and can’t get enough of. Playing instruments does that.
Tom Misch ❤🙌🏾🎸
What a crazy useful list. Man... saved me hours of scrolling on Insta. All the sauce right here in one vid. Killer. Much thanks!
Actual playing adds sooooooooooo much to rnb that's been missing 20 years. Bring it back and I'll be right back listening. Real drums. Real guitar. PC ONLY for EDITING. No more drag and drop lucky automated "beats" bitten off of actual musicians or worse, stupid pad hits. Thanks for proving music is still the king over PC beats
Robert Clark you know you should appreciate those stupid pad hits they've kept alot people alive and inspired many
@@extremezeke Haha. Not me buddy. Not many ..I am sure they serve a purpose for live situations. I cannot do "beats", I'm a bit older so there is a gen gap. Lol. Hah
@Big dookie Makes no sense at all how it is close minded...That is the problem. Fear on the part of people looking for the easy way out doesnt constitute those that have a passion to excel and learn actual organic music close minded. That makes as much sense as the sad excuse for Music today as stated above. Followers will follow..Leaders will lead. Trying to let a PC and hardware do everything is sad...
@@extremezeke 💯🎯💯🎯💯
listen to j dilla my man. those pads are themselves their own instruments, and people like dilla brought those “pad hits” to life. don’t write off an entire swath of modern music from what you’ve heard on the radio.
J. Dilla - Don’t Cry
J. Dilla - Lightworks
Slum Village - Fall in Love
the 2nd one is lovely
Baeu Diakowicz and Gene caberra are my heros
Tom, Faye and the first two are the best.. IMHO
Me: slowly and hopeful looking at my ukulele.
My ukulele: *you're pathetic*
Slowly falling in love with this genre
I'm aiming to reach their levels
Shoot higher. This is beginner stuff. It all depends on your personally goal though, so do what you please. Listen to some Paul gilbert, buckethead, Steve Vai, stevie ray Vaughan, and Eddie van Halen if you seek to be really good. Listening to technical music is the first step to become good.
@@tash5540 OK thanks 👍
@@tash5540 this is all wrong. This video is a completely different style than all the guys you listed. While I love them all, technicality doesn't make a great player. A lot of the greats learned themselves and didn't know ahit about music theory, they just played what moved them. Who says the guy you responded to is even moved by their music anyway? If he wants to learn what's in this video, all the power to him.
@@tash5540 No man this is wrong, these guys are really good (even better in harmony terms), I love the rock/metal guitarists, specially buckethead ! but they use too much pentatonic man, we need some fresh air
@@tash5540 technicality doesn't define skill :(
I am absolutely convinced that Kristof can make any guitar sound great - it' s his fingers!
Beautiful playing!!
This video brings me back
that Kaspar dude is amazing!
I despise backwards baseball caps. Or baseball caps at all.
Melanie, you're amazing. Your face is the music and vice verse. Great video and talent.
Man I love this guitar sound and style. I hear this in a lot of gospel.👍👍
That's because it quartet based chording...

I wanted to ask a question. I am looking for this sort of sound for a narration project I am working on. How do I contact
As a clean electric guitar enthusiast, I am very glad to come across this.
Kasper went off
Lmao, juicin it.
anytime you watch someone infinitely better than you what you're really seeing is all the time you didn't put in. please don't stop practicing :). none of this is a race and everyone started somewhere

Love the sound of that Tele with Kristof Neyens
@4:46 i dunno why but this cracked tears in my eyes
Oh that's just your soul being touched by the sound dude
You should hear the original song! Listen to “Lucille” by Anthony Hamilton
@@strangeone-gc3nz true, i still need years more practice to play something as good and as passionate as these guys
@@will3230 thanks mate, i will listen to it
Saving that list of names and I'm definitely sampling that first one, it's just way too good
I like to think of neo soul as modern jazz
Could also be seen as an extension of triphop/ambient music and soul/r&b/gospel.
My man Alec was trying to FEEL that Deangelo though, ain’t even mad at him. 😂👏🏿✊🏿

not to discredit anyone but 12:47 is the best chord progression. as someone who plays by ear i think i actually need tabs to figure that one out.
its amazing, i cant still work it out. what tune is it?
@@jolyonward705 no idea
Melanie playin Honey brought back so many memories for me.
2:20 gave me goosebumps that shit was slick

The second song (0:41) is 'Try It', an original by Achmad Satria, an indonesian prodigy.
i think i deserve a like. 😘

Kaspar Jalily is ABSOLUTELY invited to the cookout
Damn he should do gigs at cookouts though that would be so dope
