For the record I had no idea this would blow up like it did, nor did I plan on it. Before this, I had absolutely never touched any sort of 3D modelling software or 3D animating software ever in my entire life. I made this using Roblox Studio and even then, I have no idea how to use its Animation tools. I made this for my friend who's a fan of Star Trek AND Star Wars and also because I wanted to test out some new editing software.
@@dkaustin98Blow up or not I do not wish to continue. I don’t have time to learn more advanced 3D animation and even if I did, I still wouldn’t. I’m done
I can't animate for crap, so I'll likely never put this out there. I view the old SW V ST (Enterprises V standard Star Destroyer specifically, there are SOME Imperial ships that could take a Federation Starship out with one shot) using this quote from "Enemy Starfleet." "They've got speed on their side sir, but our weapons and shields completely outclass them."
This kinda goes hard, especially the soundtrack compilation. This is quite impressive for a first though I know nothing about animating but if you really make more and improve with each one, then you could definitely have a future with this sort of thing!
I was inspired from how the original Star Wars used miniatures and the 35mm 70’s aesthetic 😂, technically this wasn’t even an animation, I just opened up Roblox studio and threw it together and used the same camera tricks and a couple green/blue screen effects in post that George Lucas and his team used.
Tactically, the Star Destroyer is a sitting duck. The underside is very poorly armed and the rear lower quadrant is exposed. The engines are sticking out from the tail and all that exhaust equipment is bare.
Was the appearance of the secondary hull not being centered just an artifact of the rendering process, I wonder? @3:40 or so, it looks like the port saucer extends further than the starboard saucer. And those were TNG phaser sound effects, not TOS phaser sounds... I also agree that the secondary hull was too large for sure, and the text on the saucer of the Enterprise didn't appear to be sized or positioned quite right, for that matter.
HUGE misconception, Star Wars does NOT use lasers. They use super-heated plasma that is magnetically confined into a bolt. A single turbolaser can vaporize a large asteroid, so they are quite powerful. Plus Star Wars hyper drives are hundreds of times faster than even warp 9.99
@@SWPOTC1298 Superluminal combat between vessels using disparate methods for FTL travel seems pretty unviable above the Speed of light. Speed, maneuverability, weapons range and power, shield capacity and sensor capability above and below the speed of light would be the deciding factors in combat in a fight in normal space. The Feds would seem to have an advantage with using sensors from warp to vector in on vessels in normal space. SW ships don't seem to be able to use sensors from hyperspace until the drop out into normal space. They might be faster, but their speed in superluminal space doesn't really give them an advantage in combat scenarios.
@josephlobosco3647 uhhh hello, Star Wars has Proton Torpedoes and many other types of torpedoes, and GL and GR both agreed between the two of them that phasers and lasers between the two are so very similar it doesn't really matter. And I will believe the actual creators of the two before any space Jackie's with Ren cents to declare their knowledge of the two universes
@SWPOTC1298 Forget the hyperdrive vs. warp drive debate. It's irrelevant. That's not a joke. The two function completely differently. Warp drive is if you're in a race from New York to San Francisco and you debate whether you should ride there in a car, train, of passenger jet. Hyperdrive you grab a map of New York, a map of San Francisco, and a map of the United States. You then set them up so the maps of New York and San Francisco are touching their locations on the map of the United States. You then step onto the map of New York, walk across the US map onto the map of San Francisco, and somehow you are there. Technically hyperdrive is faster because it gets you there faster but the warp drive offers more maneuverability and therefore evasion options. Regardless, the point is to see who wins the fight, not who can run away when things go south.
The Imperial Star Destroyer and the TIE Fighters should have been firing back and making at least some effort, even if in vain, to defend themselves. But sadly, nothing. Just sat there like a stunned mullet and let themselves get blown up. Not bad I guess for a first time animation.
I’m sorry but the enterprise would have been scrapped. 1.) the federation only uses explorer type ships and a star destroyer is a war ship 2.) the SD has a lot more weapons and fighters 3.) the SD would not just set there and let themselves be destroyed at the 1st opportunity they would have opened up with their turbo lasers.
Honestly I couldn’t figure out how to impose "blaster" effects in post. If I ever remake this, (which I probably won’t because I don’t plan on working with 3D animation and effects like this again) I’ll definitely include more action.
Well, no. The Enterprise is way more maneuverable. Kirk would assess the tactical situation and attack from the 6 o-clock. The ISD-I/II have little defense other than their shields in that direction. Plus, the Enterprise shields would be able to withstand some blaster fire during the tactical maneuver. A full spread of photon torpedos and phaser fire directed at the shield generators would be the end of the ISD, unless they jumped to hyperspace. Plus, turbolasers/blasters in SW aren’t light speed weapons like phasers (they’re more like conventional naval guns on wet-navy vessels); Sulu would just take evasive maneuvers, while Chekov takes care of any pesky Tie fighters with the phasers. 😊
@williamsquires3070 trekkie, once upon a midnight hour many many decades ago, two men, each a much loved man in their own created field not Space Age Dramas met together and actually answered questions..during this session many questions were answered by their creator, such as which is faster, light speed or hyper speed, which shields are stronger, which are better, lasers or phasers, etc, etc.. one of the questions answered was, in fact, the one discussed above, a Star Destroyer vs. Enterprise.. once they got into the details, both men agreed that the ISD could whup the shit out of the Enterprise, that light speed is slower than hyper speed, and the shields are stronger in SW than in ST. Feel free to do your own research, but this is my final entry into this thread.
The shields of a *cargo ship* can withstand a star destroyers turbo-lasers, at least for a time. They would be useless against a Federation heavy cruiser, IMHO.
Only if the Enterprise was gear enough. The Enterprise's phaser have a longer range than the Star Destroyers Turbolasers. And it doesn't have anything comparable to photon torpedoes. Even t h e TIEs won't be of any help as they probably would just s h after at the Enterprise's shields.
a sub-300m ship designed for exploration and science, using a variant of convergence particle beams with a mass of 190k, vs a literal mile of warship (1600m more or less equals 1 mile) with 40 million tons of structure and armor, fielding contained, superheated plasma and ion weaponry (meant for taking down shields), that isn't even shooting back. (most ISDs when ambushing a Rebel Cell which you showed before it's introduction, would drop out of hyperspace and begin firing within the first three seconds.) Overall, a decent concept animation. HOWEVER... It's pretty easy to see where the bias is. I can respect both IPs, Yes I may favor Star Wars over Star Trek, if only because that is what I grew up with. But that doesn't mean I'll say it can win every fight every time. A single Constitution Class Exploration Cruiser from the 23rd Century, going up against a single Imperial Star Destroyer with full crew and fighter compliment, with a mass displacement 210 times itself.... While the Connie would get in a number of good licks, probably even crippling the Star Destroyer, it would not survive the fight. Push comes shove, it'll get tractor-locked in place and rammed. But I know all too well, that this'll spark a fire under half the Trekkies out there who'll thump their chest and claim their tech is better. Simple fact is, the TOS Enterprise, vs an ISD, is like watching a featherweight go up against a superheavyweight, It'll get some good hits in, do some damage, sure, won't deny that, but it's not walking away from that fight unscathed, if at all.
So then the Star Destroyer just blows up. First the enterprise being part of the Federation WOULD NEVER START A FIGHT. EVER. Secondly, that Star Destroyer would crush the enterprise like a bug, and would not just sit there while that strange ship, to them, just sits back and attacks them whoever created this needs a lesson in Imperial and Federation ship dynamics.
Well the star destroyer does have more fire power with the turbo lasers and ion cannons the shields of the OG enterprise were a better "Type" of shields. Yes they have their limits yet could handle a few photon torpedos, and speaking of photon torpedos would devastate a star destroyer since it's shields are only reflector shields which only work on lasers, so I am not sure of they could handle phasers.
@tracearchon7453 no sir, a buddy of mine, a devoted Trekkie, and I dug into the science of the two ships. A Imperial 2 class Star Destroyer had better overall shielding. She had a upgraded package of both Ray shielding, and particle shielding. Meaning her shields could deflect both torpedoes and lasers, or phasers as they called the laser in Star Trek. The Star Destroyer 2 also had a upgraded weapons package, meaning her overall upgrade of turbolasers, heavy turbo turbolasers, ion cannons, tractor beam cannons, and a variety of point defense emplacements. The Star Destroyer was also 1,600 meters long, if I remember correctly, while the enterprise was what maybe 209 meters if that. Bottom line is the enterprise would not stand a chance against a Imperial Star Destroyer. I am sorry but your logic and math are wrong.
@tracearchon7453 Er0, nothing really? Maybe the defiant or the galaxy dreadnought, but star trek doesn't really have a parallel to star wars. Star wars universe is far older and more technologically advanced. A Star Destroyer is a tool of war and intimidation, pure and simple. The kind of society that could field a ship like that doesn't really exist in Star Trek. There are those that would love to, but no one really has the resources to maintain such a ship
@tracearchon7453 a Borg Cube could possibly take out ISD, if the ISD did not have shields raised and were able to beam enough soldiers over to critical areas of the ship.
