I will always remember and be haunted by the memory of Blade Flurry being able to go face. That's one of if not the first hard hit to a card I remember
The reason why Demon Seed is so good is because Warlock has a ton of cards that deals self damage as a cost. Demon seed just turns that cost into a freaking benefit. Like heck, I don't think you need other Warlock cards from that expansion besides Demon Seed to be good.
As someone who plays it because I like playing quest decks because I'm brainless like that, I don't think that's entirely accurate. The deck would probably be way worse if Crystalizer didn't exist for one. And I've found that you pretty much need to play for board with the self-damage reward giants, which is at least some level of interactive. The version that plays for fatigue damage is just way too vulnerable.
@@d007ization Usually when I play Demon Seed, I go for handlock style by spamming draw cards while also using self hit damage and sustain so that when I play Tamsin, I either combo to win or use fatigue to win.
@@unknowed5048 By handlock you do mean flesh and molten giants right? Yeah those boards can be cumbersome to deal with but I always wind up cutting giants because they can be such bricks.
I remember OG test subject priest being probably the hardest deck ever to play in HS, so much so they made a whole simulator program to help in learning to do the whole APM thing
Blizzard will never accept a deck that can OTK as early as turn 2. Definitely. That's why they would never, say, revert Kael'thas Sunstrider after it leaves standard.
I'd argue Clergyman himself would be fine at 2 Mana. The problem is Radiant Elemental who *desperately* needs to get the Sorcerer's Apprentice treatment.
I have to disagree when you said clergy priest wasn't that strong at the time it was banned. If i remember correctly, there was a miracle version with fizzle and mind blast that could kill you on turn 4-5 pretty consistently. I remember playing it before it got banned and i would say it's power level felt quite similar to the recently nerfed flow mage
I'll keep saying that demon seed would have never be a problem if it just don't count fatigue, 21 damage was alot especially after the hp cost change, meaning after that you can squeeze out like only 10 damage left to the opponent, but the fact that fatigue effects it means that you never run out of self damage, especially when warlock is so abundance of card draw, and you know what, that was fine, warlock was balanced with all the card draws simply because fatigue exist as a counter mechnics to balance high abundance of draw, but demon seed by nature is a start of game remove the entire fatigue mechanics and convert it to direct damage to opponent. Such a dog shit design, the quest mechanic itself is fun and cool but they just have to keep fatigue part of it, blizzard have so much shit balance change, remove fatigue the card is now fun, make Reno long-ranger effect mirrored then the card is more fair, but nah, mana increase number increase
i FUCK*NG hate Soul Barrage ... Tome Tampering banned and Cataclysm nerfed .... they killed my Meca'thun deck and everything would be fine if Soul Barrage just do minion damage....
Switching just health with switcheroo does nothing, it was like that for a while in standard where it didn't swtich attack and was 3 mana but was still banned in wild... you have topsy turvy and inner fire, so switching only health just adds one more card to the combo but still way too consistent way too early
I mean if you have I think it's a one cost card the idea is that you would swap their health would have one attack in 20 health right well there's a card if I remember correctly with priests that says make your minions attack equal to its health so you can fix it that way at least with bore and darkness
Crimson Clergy feels like it could be ok in Wild. Aggro is so insanely strong which would best most combo priests, and Priest much prefers to be in Shadowform in general.
I kind of miss Tome of Tampering card just because it also allowed some combo warlock decks to work a lot faster, Mecha'thun Warlock for example. I really had fun with that one, but some people would make worse degen use of the card if it was reverted today...
I think Soul Barrage could be fixed by making it worse when discarded - maybe only dealing 3 or 4 damage? Doesn't fully solve the issue of playing a discounted one off of Tome Tampering but it'd certainly slow it down a lot.
I used crimson clergy in mechathun priest and it was mad broken with the one that reduces cards in your hand when you play spells. I would win with mechathun on turn 5 sometimes
Difference between Reno and Block is that Reno is a huge tempo swing, and takes their entire turn...unless if they are playing Druid. Block just makes you unkillable for a full turn, or more if you have a second copy of it in your deck, have ways of duplicating it, and so on, and be much cheaper to pull off than Reno. Both are good cards, but i'd argue one is a bit more worthy of a ban than the other.
They should just make Reno also clear your board, like there's 0 reason why it don't do that, it was so bad that when it came out in standard aggro decks are running Reno because it removes taunt, if the card just functions like the Amazing Reno that hero card mage got everything would've been fine
So the Radiant isn't the problem, they thought. You know, the card in the class all about spells buffing and copying minions
I feel like it's only a matter of time before it gets the apprentice treatment
@@antusThul apprentice got a loooooong treatment, like it took them literally years

Thank God it doesn't still btw
@@FlareIsGone agreed!! Was sleeper OP for the power level of things way back

yeah radiant is just not a balanced card
@@FlareIsGone how long till radiant gets the apprentice treatment
Given it is still priest, the boar switcheroo combo still works, but you need to set they as well. I believe.
I'm probably spoiled because of duellogs, but bringing up cards without them appearing on the screen just feels wrong.

Jailer storyline in WoW went so poorly they executed him in Hearthstone just to be sure.
Oh god that the switcheroo sketch from snl is good

4:39 I disagree, I think the Switcheero interaction could have easily been discovered.
Clergy + Radiant + Mindblast + Fizzle + Funnelcake enabled a turn 3 OTK, I think that's why it was banned
I want Tony to be reverted for the sole reason that I got a signature of him

Why is demon seed so good? It's like, 9 damage???
We should ban The Jailer again since it's so awful
