Hey there! Love your content.... I was wondering... I've played on a key board my whole entire life. 20+ years. I've recently got a really nice rig and I'm wondering if spending dollars on the joystick, thrust and pedals is worth it. I mean I still use my rudders on a key board for almost every aircraft. For someone that is so used to gaming on a key board, will it be hard to transition.... Also I've heard it's only worth getting all that if your going to get the VR? Anyone have any advice

Cant wait to see how the default bindings on the Warthog are. One fun part of getting a new module for me is setting up all the modes an buttons to the HOTAS. But i would go with the default if the are good. 7 more days :)

I will try to clear up the COM's switch of the throttle for my SRS PTT and the China Head will most likely take over things like the bombmode and Auto Sweep. And the Cage/Uncage i have on the Master Mode switch of the Warthog Stick. I have it set up like this on my Harrier and F/A-18. Looking deeper in to it i will most like likely change a lot. But that's the fun part ;)

Yep, looks like the modes only work with missiles selected. So, switch to SW even if you have 0, select mode, switch back to gun. Then it works. That could be a bug.
Question:. I've been having trouble getting VSL (both high and low) to work when I play. Is there anything that may cause VSL not to function properly? Thanks!
Great bitesized video! Any plans for doing a HOTAS setup recommendation video? I'm not even sure if the Tomcat has that difficult of a HOTAS setup (Nothing like the A-10 with it's cryptic DMS, TMS, Coolie boat etc etc terms) since it's more mechanical and older era.

Jabbers Thanks, I cant get it to do what you do, when pressing the key press, will try to have gun selected first and then press PLM, then switch to Sparrow/SW’s etc and see if that works...
Is the acm switch on front needed for these acm radar modes to be used or is it just to set weapons to be more acm oriented, like it making the phoenix a true maddog ARH straight from the rails
Will this lock any target or will it only lock enemy targets. Like if i have a wingman to my 2 o clock and i have a bandit at my 12 will it lock my wingman first if hes closer

So, just out of curiosity...does the RIO get any kind of symbology on his scope to indicate these auto acquisition modes are being used? What if he decides to lock a target while the pilot is actively searching with one of these modes? Or, do they just verbalize their intentions as a crew?
Jabbers you did a cold start video for heatblur and used "VoiceAttack" to give Jester commands. Any chance you can do a video about how to use VA with Jester? I've pre-ordered my F-14 and DL'd voice attack and would like to be able to just speak commands to him like you did.
@@roderickval i know it's been 3 years since this post, but if you have a phoenix missile selected, flipping the ACM cover up with also switch the NORM/BRSIT button to BRSIT which is boresight. It's essentially an auto-pitbull boresight mode for aim54s. Came across this by accident.

Oh ya works fine, did a 2 hour RIO training with some of the CVW-11 guys the other day and HB has been hosting 3-4 hour MP sessions every weekend to make sure it’s as bug free as possible
God dammit I just realized the glitch sound effect you have at the end of your intro is the same on I used in a video. Glitch-03 from some random TH-cam video.
Since the game has a pretty steep hardware requirement and the current pricing of video cards (FU bitcoin miners) it might be a good idea to look up Cloud Gaming services like Shadow and Nvidia Now. They just starting to become viable if you have internet bandwidths north of 20mb/s.
I want to see you throw the Tomcat around in guns only BFM. I want to see how it responds. Test it out for a few rounds versus a clean AI Su-27 at 40% fuel. I've been hearing a lot hype for the last two months about how well the Tomcat can turn. I want to see if it lives up to it. For shits and giggles set the mission up with a clean Tomcat at 50% fuel since that's the loadout and fuel state all the Tomcat humpers say it performs best.
Jabbers me and my friend are playing the f14 a lot and were happy about your videos :)) but there is one question.. if im jester and my friend is the pilot he cant you that modes.. what i as jester have to do that my pilot can use the radar acquisition modes ?

SU33 isn't modeled like the real jet, more arcadeish.

AA mode, master arm on, but no I've only tried it with the gun. Could that be it? It doesn't work with the gun selected?
Yep, looks like the modes only work with missiles selected. So, switch to SW even if you have 0, select mode, switch back to gun. Then it works. That could be a bug.
I'm now having this problem as well. I have a missile selected, master arm on, AA mode. I'm utterly lost, any help would be appreciated

I have had PLM lock big stuff like bombers up to 10 nm. It comes in handy when he RIO is looking too far out

RIO can fire it the same as the AIM-54 but not in TWS, must be STT

In the PAL mode - what is the cross representing - after you unlock, it appears to still be tracking ?
It's just a common range for a specific wingspan... Not sure the specifics but let's say 500ft range 20ft wing span as an example

Probably but firing an aim7 at a ranch where vsl picks up a target is likely gonna be a miss, but I guess if you have no other options

No button to press and you unlock by switching into another lock-in mode that won’t lock something, I use plm for this

Well a big factor is the communication, you should be 1 with your RIO ;) but ya ACM takes priority

Turns faster than the 18, I did a bunch of bfm with the AI on my stream, but not a fan of the AI auFO flight model

Nothing they are acm modes, pilot only, is he in AA hud mode?
