  • Find out what I think to the Ista Snail Trap - how does it compare to my DIY solution!?
    I show you how the snail trap works, what is in the box, what the instructions tell you to do, and then leave the trap a week to see how well it works. There are loads of snails in this tank, watch to the end to see how many were caught!

    Your tank is so clean that I honestly thought it was a terrarium until I saw the fish lol.

    I find the best way to use this trap is to leave it over night when the lights are off and then remove in the morning before you turn the light off as the snails won't bother with it during the day

    If its going to be a cilchlid tank won't they solve the snail problem anyway?

    Wish I had seen this video before buying a snail trap! What a waste of money. I'll make one myself now, thanks 😊

    Its amazing watching your videos. I have 3 aquariums and 2 of them have snails. I tried to remove them but after a couple of days they show up again. Please advise

      Hiya. You have two options really, a DIY trap like I show in my video, or Esha Gastropex treatment. It's also worth remembering that a few snails are not necessarily a basic thing, they'll eat a bit of algae and provide a useful bio load when you are first establishing a tank! Good luck! 👍

      One more thing. I am keeping Molly and Goldfish in the same tank. How can I save babies?

    • @HomelessCat-x
      @HomelessCat-x 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Best way is to lower feeding in frequency and amount, deep clean maintenance I.e remove debris, really good vacuum etc and stay on top of maintenance afterwards and use a snail trap or chemicals.

    • @HomelessCat-x
      @HomelessCat-x 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Snails only breed to the bio load of the tank. Lower your bioload and you lower the population that accompanied with manual/chemical removal is super effective, if you continue to provide an ideal environment for snails its going to be hard too get rid of them regardless.

    I am keeping Molly and Goldfish in the same tank. How can I save babies. Please suggest a permanent solution so I don't have to look all night when molly give birth.

    • @AquariumShed
      @AquariumShed  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can get a breeding box that floats in the tank and put your pregnant Molly in there until all the fry are born. Then remove the mother and let the fry mature in the breeder box until they are big enough not to get eaten. 👍

    You failed to show any signs of snail infestation in your tank, I used it in my tank infested with tadpole snails and it worked like a charm.
    Stop blaming the product.

    • @AquariumShed
      @AquariumShed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That's a fair comment, and I can only blame lazy filmmaking. I should have done some early morning shots to show just how infested the tank was but my daily routine got in the way. Apologies. I still stand by my review tho, it did not work for me with trumpet snails. Maybe the tadpole snails prefer the bait!

      What can I use as bait?

      Mine came with a pot of bait/food. It looks very similar to Shrimp granules. 👍
