San Mateo County - Tafoni & Redwoods Hike

This hike explores a redwood forest. Douglas firs & madrones grow in the forest also. Hikers will discover a sandstone tafoni formation. There’s a memorial to an airliner that crashed on the hillside in 1953. Second-growth redwoods grow around the stumps of giants cut over 100 years ago. Hikers can marvel at a massive old-growth tree, the Methuselah Redwood.

Beautiful Hike, I need to check this out someday. I also learned something....I always wondered what Tafoni formations where called and now I know, I've seen lots of them at Salt Point along the coast
