Guys, I noticed TH-cam's algorithm doesn't push my own Halloween Cover of 'Requiem For A Dream'. Probably because I don't post covers very often haha😅 So I thought I'd post the link to it here as well. So I'd appreciate it if you'd check it out -> th-cam.com/video/7dbZGa_dS8Y/w-d-xo.html But of course, I hope you enjoy my reaction here too! 😉 Thank you!
You have to understand-Geoff, like Tim Foust Of Home Free-has a 5 octave vocal range! They both can sing up into the clouds, or down into the sub-basement! They’re both incredible!
The "Scream like I can" line topped at a chest connected C5. It wasn't full chest, but a mixed voice... which is still bonkers for someone with as deep of chest range as he has.
Most of the Halloween props came from Geoff and Kathy's house. She was the one that animated Zero, Jack's ghost dog. The studio is Pattycake. I know this is a holiday video but I think it is my favorite of his. He managed to create an emotional zone where Jack wants something more. I felt so sad for him. It set things up nicely for what follows in the Nightmare Before Christmas where Jack wants something different. It is nice that Sally will be in his life before long. Everything in this video from the setting, makeup and above all, the music is perfect.
His voice is not just deep. It's smooooooth. There are bass singers out there who can go lower, many are starting to learn subharmonics to match the likes of Geoff and Tim, but they often sound like gravel or a snoring dragon with a head cold. Geoff sounds like dark velvet, hot chocolate, melted butter... even his warhorn carries a warmth to the sound. That's what makes him my favorite bass singer. Avi and Elliott Robinson are the only guys who match Geoff's warmth and smoothness. I love Tim Foust, Matt Sallee, and the entire Bass Gang, but Elliott (who is tragically underrated) has a voice like a dark angel come to bless us, although the depth of his voice may briefly terrify us but then melts our ears. And Avi... well, he's Avi-freaking-Kaplan! He's a class unto himself.
It's actually really easy to tell if he's doing a subharmonic. Basically, if it sounds like somewhere in the world a dragon got slain, it's in chest, and if it sounds like a subwoofer, it's a subharmonic 👍
I always love that Geoff fully articulates and closes out the pronunciation of even the deepest notes. unless otherwise for purposeful artistic choice. but ye.
@@YBPlaysMusic thank you for another great reaction to Geoff. He is so smooth as he changes registers. Geoff said this was a hard one for him to do. Sure there are other bass singers that can go lower but as Geoff once said , it's not about how low you can go but it has to sound good as well. Keep up the good work ❤. Have you done Voice Plays cover of Dream On , originally by Aerosmith ? Voice Play knocks it out of the ball park.
@@YBPlaysMusic No in your reaction the part where he says AND I JACK THE PUMPKIN KING on the piano was missed completely or stopped at that moment and not gone back to.. at least on this end of it. I didn’t see it in your reaction you stopped just before he did that part and it wasn’t including in the reaction
@@m.robinson97 Don't know if YB went back and re-edited his reaction video, but when I saw it (marked as "3 hours ago"), he went back 5 seconds and picked up that line, so it wasn't missing. There's a definite cut in the reaction video just before he went back, so it's possible he re-did it, no way to tell. I was afraid he was going to miss it too when he first stopped the video, because I don't think he normally goes back when he restarts them.
He is not a Bass singer, actually he is a Baritone with a huge extension. Any Note below F#1(which is absolutely low even for a Baritone) is Subharmonics, however here in Brazil we have for example Aluisio Junior from Quarteto Gileade, he is a real bass singer and can hit C1 in Chest Voice, but can't hit those higher notes.

Yes Geoff and VP are big on Halloween but they do some great Christmas songs too. I love Geoff's God Rest You Merry Gentlemen for instance.
Geoff is a freak of nature (in all of the best ways)!
And come on, you really need to watch "The Nightmare Before Christmas!"
I know haha😅
He's just so masterful and compelling
Thanx for this reaction, I always look forward to yours when Geoff or Voiceplay puts a new one out!

This is a treat with a few delicious tricks added in.
I can’t compare cause I haven’t seen the original but it was so awesome!
Terrific reaction. Thank you.
Geoff from voiceplay and Tim from Home Free both residential in my heart for their vocal ranges and adorable performances in videos
Would you please do a reaction video to Geoff's cover of Sounds Of Silence ? He really knows how to reach deep down into your soul with this one.
I always love that Geoff fully articulates and closes out the pronunciation of even the deepest notes. unless otherwise for purposeful artistic choice. but ye.
Danny Elfman, the author of this music also sang this in the movie. Danny's talent is instrumental in the success of Geoff"s version.
Once more, thanks for your reaction. ❤
My pleasure!😁

Great Reaction YB
Thank you!
Part of it was completely cut out! Thanks for the reaction. Enjoy your reactions.
Oh you mean he left a part out of the original? Glad you enjoyed it!

This was from The Nightmare Before Christmas a song Jack Skellington sang in the Animated Film
