The Frenchie/ Ed dynamic is underrated. I'm sure Ed kept him alive for a reason other than being able to sew. Some mutual respect there for Frenchie's survival instincts and how he views the upper class.

My theory is that in season 2 Frenchie is going to take Lucius’s place as a confidant/therapist friend for Ed because Ed trusts him so much, especially after the fancy party. I just think that they have such a nice relationship and Frenchie has the emotional intelligence and the ability to be honest yet gentle that he can be genuinely helpful to Ed as Ed has to deal with everything going on in his mind
