What a sensible, tasteful approach. I'm 65-- it's been a very long time since i wore maternity clothes. Forty years ago, clothing makers were making nice maternity clothes. Now, everything seems skin-tight; very strange. So nice to see your video and hear your good sense. 👏🏆 Beautiful clothes!
Hi! I’m new to you’re channel. I started Ed learning how to make my own clothes this year, and my husband and I just found out that I am pregnant with our first child. You have inspired me to try to make my own maternity wardrobe.
There's nothing more beautiful than the pregnant body! The dresses you made are gorgeous. Celebrate your beauty and enjoy it. Pregnancies go sooooo quickly. I loved being pregnant all 9 times💜💜💜.
Beautiful! And I’ve been hand sewing for 50+ years. 2 little girls who loved twirly dresses with lots of pintucks. How did I never know that you make pintucks first? 😮 That wasn’t even covered in my Home Economics class.
I love Janet Arnold's books! I have fibromyalgia and love wearing regency dresses for reenactment events because they're so comfortable. I've eyed this specific pattern but never made it because I couldn't figure out how it came together. Now I have a better idea. Thanks for the video!
Katherine every time I see something you do I'm convinced you were born in the wrong time. I myself miss the old days, because things were alot simple. Food was better for you people were alot more families geared . Clothes and shoes were made better. I love your channel
I think this will work well for me, post-abdominal surgery for NET. Thank you for posting this! My US Civil War era dresses are too uncomfortable across the waist; I can't wear my corset for same reason. I'm large busted and miss the support from the corset.
I never thought there could be such beauty in a woman carrying a child and stitching your own dress around your new dimensions. 🤰 🎉🎉Very flattering! ❤

The closure method is genius!
Also I love your sass regarding modern maternity clothing 😆

Love this and you look lovely💕
This is simply beautiful and elegant. Well done to you and thanks for sharing.
Can you do videos on how to sew like anything?
And how to sew on a whim w/o a pattern?
THX
I've always loved this dress (from Patterns of Fashion), too! It's on the (probably huge) mental list of things I would like to make someday.
Wow! beautiful job! I love that dress. I am so going to try this pattern. What is the vintage book you found?

Happy Mother's day to all my youtube mama's
❤🎉😊
So how did you do the sleeves? E.g remove and attach? I am looking for this pattern so I can try to make my own.
Oh no. I am looking for the Pattern Book. 📚 where is the real one sold?
Hello, just wondering where do you buy your fabrics?
Love the videos! Which Janet Arnold book are you using exactly?
Patterns of Fashion 1
You said the long sleeves were removable; could you show that? That would make it more useable from season to season.
Yes, the long sleeves overlap slightly with the hem of the short under sleeve and are simply whip stitched in place, which is easy to undo.:)
@@KatherineSewing that’s so awesome; very versatile. I like it. By the way, my first name is Kathryn. Lol
I feel like this era is perfect if you want to wear historic clothes in the modern day
Are you wearing a regency petticoat as well or no?
Thanks
No, I'm not, just a linen chemise that I sewed years ago, there is a video on my channel
❤❤❤❤
You can cut out front of jeans and sew in a tee shirt type or double knit material in half circle works...wrap around skirt works too.
My mother and grandmother did dresses for many of the old western shows ..have draw string or elastic on top of skirt then simple cotton blouse...
