Hey Eric, I was 12 when I saw Elvis blow out 4 shows at Madison Square Garden.. I only saw one, and lucky I had the 10 dollars and car fare to see that.. Changed my life forever, and you are dead on.. Not more than 5 minutes into the show, I'm looking all around the stage thinking, 'where is the 2nd drummer, I only see one drummer on the stage.. As great as he is, he took it to another level for the Garden crowd. He was in some kind of supernatural zone..

Is knowledge of him something that came about after the cold war ended or was his music available during the 'Soviet years' as well? It takes a good kind heart and a good soul to admit they were wrong. There is OVERWHELMING evidence that supports his love and admiration for the black community - he came from there - that was Elvis' community growing up dirt poor in Tupelo, surrounded by his neighbours and friends who supported him, no one there saw colour. Look up Sam Bell - one of his closest buddies growing up.

Elvis was one of these success stories in the entertainment business who didn't have to sell his soul over to the dark side to keep his voice in tune., sure though, sometimes new ideas were difficult to come by. He was deeply God fearing.
It really saddens me that he didn't live to enjoy his Grandchildren, the two younger girls are just like Gladys, his mother.
May The Good Spirit rest upon Elvis forever.

Over the years I've heard many people say how decent and fair minded Elvis was. Respectful, brought up right. And that he was not a Bigot or Racist. He must have been a special Man. I was driving to visit my grandmother when I heard it on the news that Elvis had died. Tho I was not a huge Elvis Fan, I felt sadness for his family, friends and Fans. His Death really Rocked the world. May Elvis Presley Rest In Peace.

I went on vacation down south as a child, in the early 60s. I was surprised how respectful and gentle people seemed to each other across the races. Nothing like I expected.
It was awful though to see different drinking fountains and doors for people according to their skin color. That was very shocking for me. My Grandpa told me to keep my mouth shut about it. He didn't want us to get lynched.

I always loved the talent, and now I do the person!
2 add ons: 1st I'm sorry, but from the young picture which beautiful young lady were you.
2nd: I grew up in a very strict Christian household but mom let me listen and fall in love with Elvis. I didn't know how to do the twist and mom did from her younger years. She stood up to the radio when he came on, told me to get up. She told me to slightly bend, point my toe and act like I putting out a cigarette. Start it by the beat of ba ba ba thow out my rt arm ba ba bab throw out my left. Twist my fanny , use my arrm like I was using atowel to dry my fanny while putting out that cigarette! It actually worked! Couldn't believe my Christian mother taught me the first dance I learned to the rebel, Elvis Presley!
