I love JD but as far as the best goes it was hands down no doubt about it George Younce! Smoothest bass singer and could hit the low notes! You could understand clearly every word he sang!
I was a life long friend of J.D. Sumner and all of the Stamps Quartet all my life . We just lost Ed Hill last month . He was known for the statement at Elvis's concert , " Elvis has left the building " . This was Elvis Presley's favorite song !
@@BecauseHeLives39 , Natural Causes , He retired from singing at the Elvis Weeks last summer and was really winding down . He was a fine Christian man and Lets pray for his family !

@@marcocroci3504 Luckily Elvis had more than two friends,, certainly JD Sumner,Billy Smith, his first cousin, Charlie Hodge, Jerry Schilling, Larry Geller, and all the musicians of his TCB band.
Elvis loved JD’s voice! Whenever he hit them deep, low notes he would look to JD for his reaction. Even on stage. Watch for it. It’s beautiful to see. 🙏
A wonderful singer and a great friend to Elvis, JD even said Elvis helped him more than he knew, he helped save his marriage, his career and helped him get off alcohol, I wish Elvis had more friends like him!
I wish those that were around Elvis gave as much as he gave. There was a small number of people that just wanted to be friends with Elvis. Nothing more. Elvis deserved so much more. Rest in peace God's Child.

For me, heaven would be listening to Jd the stamps quartet and Elvis all singing around a piano. There are some I'm sure who got to be that fortunate, sadly they wouldn't have thought so.
My precious Mother held my hand and sort of dragged me as a very young teen to meet a legend at my home church in Marietta, Ga. I had no idea just how monumental he was. JD Sumner took my hand in his, smiled his signature smile and talked with Mom and me about how good God is, how great life is and Heaven. So thankful she did this for me. Ill never forget! What a legend.
At one time, JD made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for hitting the lowest “C” note in the piano singing with the Stamps Quartet. He also hit that note singing on Elvis last LP on the song, “Way Down” which hit the charts after Elvis died.
My mother introduced me to quartet music at a young age. I find myself returning to much of the music I was introduced to and it was a wide range, including such as this. I love the rich wording!
Yes, this video was actually filmed in Graceland. The guy who sang the high part of the song is Steve Warren. I actually got to do a show with him a few years back. This is great music!!!
Thanks for posting this. It was really special. Elvis loved this Song.. And it was great seeing JD and the stamps singing in Grace lands mansion.. Loved the way The camera reversed from the window.. It was soul stirring..
Marvellous JD and Stamps. Please can someone tell me if they are singing this beautiful gospel song at the Elvis Graceland Mansion? It seems to me to be Graceland....If it's true. I can understand why I have goosebumbs....It's like they are singing with elvis again....
