Unless you want to cry your eyes out, avoid Clerks 3. I love Kevin's films. Clerks 3 isn't a comedy. Some funny moments...but it just is a gut punch of a film. So, if you watch, bring tissues.
Yes, "Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead" is reaction worthy, stars Christina Applegate and Keith Coogan is her younger brother Kenny who had the memorable line "Dishes are done, man!". It was directed by Stephen Herek in 1991 at the height of Christina's popularity playing Kelly Bundy on "Married...With Children". It's a "coming-of-age" movie with a John Hughes vibe. 1987's "Adventures In Babysitting" is similar and also worth watching, it was directed by Amy Heckerling (Clueless & Fast Times At Ridgemont High). Keith Coogan plays Brad.
Wait, this is a REBOOT??? So it’s not part of the former View Askewniverse? Why would they reboot the Jay and Silent Bob Franchise? Why couldn’t this just be a sequel?
Kevin Smith had a MASSIVE near-catastrophic heart attack that almost killed him, and he went vegan and lost a TON of weight. This movie is ALLLLLLL his friends and ALLLLL the people who loved working with him on his previous movies joining together to make another movie with him, just thankful that he survived the heart attack. This movie is basically a monument to how many people love Kevin, and Kevin's love for goofing around making silly movies with his friends. That's part of why this movie is SO CHEAP despite all the cameos. In large part it was a bunch of friends getting together like old times and goofing around and celebrating that their friend is still alive. They weren't there for the money. Kevin wasn't sure that he and Ben Affleck were still friends until they made this movie. You should go watch his Fatman On Batman/Fatman Beyond podcast where he tells the whole story of his heart attack and making this movie. It's a great story, and it's worth it even just to see him crying his eyes out about getting his old friend back every time he tells the story. Jay's daughter is played by Harley Quinn Smith, Kevin's daughter. Jason Mewes used to live with Kevin's family for AGES because he was a recovering addict and Kevin was helping keep him clean. So Harley grew up with Jason Mewes as basically her "uncle" who lived with her family. The Mooby's lady was Kevin's wife, Jennifer Schwalbach Smith. She's in a bunch of Kevin's movies, including playing Missy in J&SB Strike Back, but here she's playing her character from Kevin's movie Yoga Hosers (which starred their daughter and Johnny Depp's daughter). This was the first confirmation that Kevin's "True North Trilogy" of horror comedies (Tusk, Yoga Hosers, and Moose Jaws) are all set within the View Askewniverse with most of his other movies. The little girl, Amy IS played by Jason Mewes' daughter. Ben Affleck played Bruce Wayne/Batman in the Zack Snyder movies. Batman v Superman, Justice League, and The Flash. Chronic is played by Melissa Benoist, who played Supergirl for many years on the CW. Kevin directed some episodes of Supergirl and they became friends. Bluntman is obviously Val Kilmer, who played Batman in Batman Forever. And obviously Bluntman is a silent parody of Batman. Who better to get for the part than the former Batman who can't speak anymore?
The Melissa Benoist casting is especially cool because, as we see in Chasing Amy, the original Bluntman and Chronic comic run ends with the tragic death of Chronic, with the cover of that issue showing Bluntman holding his body while sobbing. This was a reference to a famous classic DC comics issue where that continuity's Supergirl was killed and the cover depicted Superman holding her in the same pose.
This entire film took place in New Orleans, Metairie, and Kenner Louisiana. So the last stop on his premier tour was the Joy Theater, where the last scene was filmed. I was lucky enough to attend. Kevin Smith spent several hours after fielding public questions about the film as well as marrying a couple on stage who randomly asked him as a question. One interesting note is that this entire film was made before he asked Affleck to appear. He assumed he wouldn't because of his status. Jason saw Ben on an interview and the host was a huge Smith fan. He asked Ben if he was going to be in the movie and Ben said he would love to but no one had contacted him. Jason told Kevin and Kevin said he was just saying what he had to on Tv. Eventually he asked him, and Kevin said, "the film is done, we have to find a way to write him in."
I would never have believed a scene about Jay and his daughter could bring me to tears, much less several scenes. This was an unreasonably good film, and I think it works because the heart of it is so sincere and solid that everything else is grounded despite its insanity.
Justin Long first appears as his character in Zack and Miri Make a Porno, now officially canon to the ViewAskewniverse, which was released in 2008. Highly recommend.
I bought a VIP package for this tour for front row tix for the movie and Q&A with the boys and a meet up after the show with them too. Had a blast and they were both amazing and Kevin greeted me with a massive hug as soon as he saw me wearing one of his Bobhawks jerseys.
Does Kevin Smith have a podcast? LOL Yes. He's basically the KING of nerd podcasts. His Fatman On Batman/Fatman Beyond podcast has over 400 episodes and has been running for 12 years. His podcasting partner Marc Bernardin (who has a cameo as the sleepy black guy in this movie) is a GENIUS writer and movie critic, and the two of them are friends with TONS of movie, TV, and comics industry folks who come on as guests. Writers, directors, stars, artists, animators, etc. It's AMAZING. You will absolutely LOVE IT. As much as you like Kevin's movies you're just going to love him EVEN MORE as an actual person. He's the fucking BEST. Like the glimpses of him that you see in this movie are SO REAL to how he really is. And then he ALSO has the Hollywood Babble-On podcast with his buddy Ralph Garmin (who cameoed as the guy who says his credit card number REAL LOUD AND SLOOOOW). Hollywood Babble-On is ALSO 400 episodes, and has been running for 14 years. AND he runs the SMODcast with Scott Mosier (Mosier has small cameos is most or all of Smith's movies, going all the way back to Clerks), with 450ish episodes over 17 years. Kevin Smith is genuinely one of the earlier PIONEERS of podcasting, starting out right as podcasting was starting to really take off. I HIGHLY recommend Fatman Beyond (it's here on TH-cam). Faaaaantastic podcast. Maybe the best. Kevin LOVES to talk, and he's just the biggest most wholesome genuine fan of SO MANY things. Meanwhile, Marc Bernardin is his brilliant buddy who's a VERY good writer and storyteller and critic, and DOES NOT love a lot of things, and can tell you EXACTLY why . Watching Kevin listen to Marc explain his problems with stuff is a LITTLE like watching a little kid filled with wonder listening to his hero. Kevin basically thinks Marc's brain is magic, because Marc makes all these sharp and logical observations about stuff that Kevin completely glossed over in his fanboying glee. lol Kevin and Marc are also the creators/writers of Masters Of The Universe Revelations/Revolution on Netflix (the modern continuation to the old original He-Man cartoon from the 80s). So if you look at the cast of the show you'll see a LOT of familiar names of Kevin and Marc's various friends/heroes/stars of Kevin's movies. (Kevin himself, Jason Mewes, Mark Hamill, Melissa Benoist, Justin Long, Harley Quinn Smith, Method Man, Ralph Garmin, etc)
@@jamesrein648 lol Not really. You watch enough Fatman Beyond and Kevin will make sure to let you know everything. He loves to talk about everything he loves and everything he's doing, and all the rumors he's heard and all the secrets people tell him, and all sorts of behind the scenes stuff that he's working on or that his friends are working on, and he loves to promote his buddies and his different projects. He's like a fanboy of all sorts of stuff and just talks about it like a gleeful nerd. When he's constantly talking about whatever fun he's having with his friends, and all his friends are working with him and all sorts of different projects, it's hard not to know about all his different projects. Lol
@@davejay6855 That's kinda where his podcasting started. First he did "An Evening With Kevin Smith" as a thing at a university. And that lead to all the podcasting. You can find it on TH-cam.
@@ieykeyeah I can't listen to his podcast it makes me sad. I was a big fan of his back in the 90s before he went all snowflake. This movie even followed the South Park rule, put a chick in it and make her gay.
Yes Shanelle, Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead is great.. it's a nostalgic film for me but I think you'd really like it.. it's like a time capsule from 1991, back when the early 90s was still a little hungover from the 80s and was still starting to find its identity.. it was a very short, distinct and fascinating time period in retrospect.. Love Jay and Silent Bob, kinda in the middle on the film but there's some good stuff and it's always nice to see the familiar faces.. and yeah Harley Quinn Smith gave a great performance, she was so good..
Clerks 3 is full meta on Kevin Smith's heart attack and his film career. This year marks the 30th anniversary of "Clerks". Kevin said he will be announcing a new Jay and Silent Bob movie by February.
I'd like to see Lily Rose Depp and Harley Quinn reprise their Yoga Hosers roles as the two Colleens. Maybe Jay & Silent Bob make their way up to Canada. I'd like to see Jay and Silent Bob's reaction to Colleen M. Yes, I'm one of the few who actually liked Yoga Hosers, especially Stan Lee's cameo. "Goddamn yoga hosers."
The original reason Smith wrote Millie into the movie was of an ongoing joke on Twitter where people kept saying, "Dude..........your kid looks more like Jay; you better get a blood test."...........so pretty much how "Jay" got a kid. While Harley's appeared in her dad's movies since playing "Baby Silent Bob", she didn't become interested in acting until well after she graduated from High School. In-between starring in her dad's film YOGA HOSERS and J&SB REBOOT, she made an appearance in Quentin Tarantino's ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD as one of the Manson cult girls. However, because Smith and Tarantino are somewhat "friendly", his wife actually insisted he talk to Tarantino about putting Harley in his latest movie. Smith basically said, "HELL NO! I'm seriously a "Nobody" in Hollywood. That would never work. She needs to learn how to do her own lifting if she wants to pursue acting.............Plus, if she finds out I talked to Quentin about getting her in the movie, she'll never talk to me again." So, yeah, she earned her own way.
Harley also had a brief cameo in Clerks 2 when Dante was on a self-discovery drive before the Mooby's "Going-Away Party" with the Sexy Stud (Zak Knutson) and his donkey Kinky Kelly.
@@PsychTsunamiMkII She also had a cameo that was taken out of ZACK & MIRI, where she's giggling at Seth Rogan's character and he's like, "That girl understands me."
Harley also appeared in an episode of The CW's Supergirl as a troubled teen who Kara Danvers befriended. The episode was directed by her dad. Pretty good episode.
13:45 The fact that you know Kate Micucci continues to raise your stock. Garfunkel & Oates are Amazing.👍 The fact that you loved this movie has now sent your stock through the roof.
So Justin Long's character is Brandon St Randy who appears in Zack and Miri Make a Porno making that movie have a link to the Askewniverse. That one is worth checking out as outside of Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks, you also get Jeff Anderson, Jennifer Schwalbach, Jason Mewes and Brian O'Halloran appearing. Plus it's a rather sweet story Speaking of Jeff Anderson, Randall didn't have an appearance as I believe this was going to be a link to what would have been Kevin's pre-heart attack version of Clerks 3 but later on it got re-written to the Clerks 3 that was made. Also in reality, I believe there was some tension as Jeff didn't want to return to the Askewniverse which halted Kevin's plans for Clerks 3 until the two of them reconciled during a signing event for Clerks just prior to Reboot being released
My favorite part of the movie is definitely the Chasing Amy update because the end of that movie is so bittersweet. I love seeing that Alyssa and Holden have a kid and are co-parenting. Alfeck and Kevin Smith had had a falling out and hadn’t spoken in a long time before this. And this movie was their reconciliation.
So this ISN’T a reboot then? If it’s connected to the other movies then by definition this is just a sequel (as it has all the same memory/canon prior to a “reboot”)
The Chasing Amy update was written as a last minute addition. Kevin has referred to it as a mini sequel to Chasing Amy. It was great to see Ben Affleck and Joey Lauren Adams back as Holden and Alyssa.
In true Kevin Smith fashion, the reason Jay and Bob went to Hollywood in strike back was because people were talking crap about them on the internet 😂😂
Great reaction! I’ve loved these movies since the mid 90s, and I always look forward to the arrival of a new one because it’s like getting to hang out with old friends again. Also, the scene with Affleck was a last minute addition while they were shooting. Kevin was hesitant to reach out to Ben because they hadn’t spoken for so long, but he was encouraged to call him. I’m glad he did, because that scene kind of ends up being one of the best scenes in the movie. And it’s a great coda for Chasing Amy.
They recreated the quick stop, i Believe in New Orleans? Theres a while behind the scenes series somewhere. Kevin Smith is part of why i became a podcaster, started listening to him in 2005? Tusk, his midnight movie horror flick is straight out of one of the podcast episodes of Smodcast.
Jersey Girl is quietly one of Smith's greatest films. It is also jammed packed with really crazy cameos. And, bring the Kleenex box, this one will bring you to your knees, in a good way. 😊🤙
Fair warning: Clerks 3 is going to destroy you. I was not ok after my first time watching it. It’s probably the most emotional that any Kevin Smith movie has ever made me.
Unpopular opinion: Jersey Girl is Kevin Smith's best movie (or at least to me.) Before seeing that, Dogma was at the top of my list. Back in my late teens and early twenties I wanted to follow in his footsteps, and because of that, I bought the screenplays to all his movies to study how to write the perfect screenplay. And although I lost interest in most of his work from Clerks 2 onward, he remains my favorite screenwriter (including his films I couldn't get into; because whether or not I can get into the final composition, the written copy of EVERYTHING he creates is absolute gold). Also, Shanelle, I don't know if anyone else has brought this up in the comments or not, but Justin Long's lawyer character he played in this film was a continuation of his role from Zack and Miri, which isn't part of the View Askewniverse due to studios and copyrights and whatnot, but has Kevin Smith's signature of authenticity unmistakably smothering it; it may as well be and SHOULD be part of this timeline.
Not a lot of reactions to this movie. But I absolutely love this movie. Both of the jay and silent bob movies are my favorite in the series. It cracks me up so much. Love your reactions ❤
(Long post, but serious)I saw this twice in theaters to support Kevin. 1st time he was there for a Q&A, 2nd time was a double feature of the Jay&Bob movies. I didn't get to ask my question, but that's common because Kevin takes like 15 minutes to answer. The rights thing with this and Jay & Bob Strike Back is because the studio that owns Mallrats and Chasing Amy wouldn't let Kevin make a sequel, which led to him making Strikes Back in the first place because nobody owned Jay and Silent Bob as characters, but Kevin. This movie is absolutely the most sequel of all of the View Askewniverse (he even sort of brings in the actors from Zach and Miri make a porno [which you should watch, too]). There is some amount of sequel here for all of his other movies in a weirdly beautiful way. "I have a girl daughter" is absolutely a sequel to the line "you mean the FEMALE clitoris?" Jay's daughter is Kevin's real daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, who played a baby Silent bob and then the kid in the window in Clerks II. Kevin went vegan because he had a widow-maker heart attack a year earlier (almost to the date) before this was released. So, he wrote it super quick just in case anything happened to him. For better or worse, Kevin's "move" directorially has become chasing a heartfelt moment immediately with an oldschool stoner bro gross-out comedy moment, or at least going for a huge juxtaposition, like he feels dirty for doing a normal heartfelt moment and wants to clean it away with classic filth. He learned this move either during Strikes Back or just before Clerks II. The Chasing Amy sequel scene is the movie for me, if you like that: you like the movie, and I really liked it. I could be wrong, but i think Amy's kid is actually Jay's in real life. Ben Affleck played Batman for about 3 movies. Val Kilmer played Batman but lost his ability to speak, but what a hero-move to show up for this when he definitely didn't need to. Every character is constant, but every actor plays up to 4 characters, it's really something. Jennifer Schwalbach is Kevin's wife. Dante's fiance' from Clerks II. Kevin Smith has roughly 5-10 podcasts total, so that is all legit. I just teared up, too, watching your video. I have seen this movie 3-4 times and you showing and talking about that moment brought it back for me. I also have different stakes from other viewers, my friends and I got briefly arrested hanging out at the DOGMA church in Pittsburgh. The saddest thing about this movie is that Kevin basically has to pre-sell his movie tickets to get the permission to release his movies now. The Jay and Bob movies are his best and supposedly we're only a year or two away from a Mallrats sequel and I can't wait.
Since you missed the reference to 'The Warriors' you can put that on your upcoming list! (The scene where the Klan leader is giving the speech to his followers...Can you diiiig itttt)
That Swat guy next to the Officer in charge is Coco from Blade runner 2049. The one who Luv Chopped and broke his Neck in the Lab. Also, that Quick Stop was a real Place Next to my Navy Base in Leonardo, NJ. I got cigs there.
Hello. I just discovered your channel. I watched your reaction to the Fast Times at Ridgemont high movie. I love that movie from 1982. I graduated high school in 1980. I saw fast times in the movie theatre when it first came out and all the teenagers loved it. Another one of my favorite high school movies is Pretty in Pink from 1986. If you haven’t reacted to it please do. Thank you.
Shanelle, yes Millennium Falcon is Kevin's real life daughter and the lady in Mooby's is his wife. The little girl who plays Ben's daughter is Jay's real life daughter, so you absolutely had it correct!
saw this at its premiere here in vancouver 🇨🇦 at the rio theatre with both kevin and jay in attendance ...theyre premiered it over two nights... vancouver is unoffically kevin's home away from home
I've voiced my love of Kevin Smith enough here, so I just want to recommend Kevin's talk to People magazine on YT about his struggles with personal trauma. Nobody had any idea what happened to him as child, and his opening up (as usual) hit a strong emotional chord with myself and many others. It breaks my heart to see anyone struggle, and it's difficult to hear that Kevin is dealing with depression. Kevin Smith has helped me a lot in the past, and I think it's important that his fans show him a lot of love while he goes through a tough time.
I think one thing I, and many others, enjoy about this universe is how it feels like we’re on an inside joke that nobody else knows about. You gotta watch essentially all the Smith movies to get the refs. I mean, it’s sort of a brilliant way to get someone to go back and watch your back catalog. Been a fan since renting Clerks waaaaaay back when, I’ve raised my kids to J&SB, I love seeing it come around for them.
Kevin Smith said that he had been working on the script before the heart attack, which at the time was just basically just a joke, like Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was, but once he had the heart attack he realized he needed to had heart to the movie.
Yes Affleck was Batman, and the joke behind him not remembering Batman's mom's name was that Batman v. Superman got a lot of criticism because the main conflict between Affleck's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman was basically resolved when they realized both their mom's names were Martha. It was a nice little touch to address that in this movie.
The best thing is Jason Mewes & Harley Quinn Smith are probably the same way in real life since their families are so close. I enjoyed Kevin Smith’s TH-cam channel especially during COVID. It sure made lockdown more enjoyable. That and Home Free music videos. Kevin would have Jason at his house and they unbox toys they got and give some away. It looks like he has some extra stuff on his channel for this movie. Look under playlists.
24:53 - Yes, Shanelle, yes you do. That is exactly what it means: that you have to see Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead. And so long as you don't, we will.
She should also watch Keith Coogan in Adventures in Babbysitting, I mean it came first anyways. My favorite Keith Coogan movies though aes Toy Soldiers and then Hiding Out.
Kevin Smith’s journey is amazing and this movie was his way to put on film. His movies are my kind of my movies… love the fact that you get it and enjoy it! Great reaction!
Loved seeing this movie in Atlanta on the Reboot tour. Going in February on the Jay & Silent Bob cruise! Man we’ve spent a ton of of $$ on ViewAskew lol, but Kevin is worth it. He legit is one of the nicest celebrities out there.
My favorite parts are the more subtle movie references. A few that i remember, 7:30 the your out of order speech from Pacino in ..and justice for all. 22:30. The classic closers speech by Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glenross And my favorite 11:06 , the using of Ted Underhill's credit is a full reference from Chevy Chases classic comedy, Fletch! Also the running joke throughout the universe is jay confusing Helen Keller with Anne Frank. So as blind as anne frank or hidden away like helen keller
Kevin Smith toured the country doing "An Evening with Kevin Smith" +20 years ago and i drove 3 hours to see one in Springfield Mo. He spoke for so long they had to turn off the lights to get him to shut up. It was a great time. You might be able to find the video he made of one of them with the same title.
Kevin Smith was originally going to make the Mallrats sequel as his next film but apparently he got an idea for the third Jay and Silent Bob movie fairly recently so he decided to go ahead and make that one before the second Mallrats. You won't have to wait too long to get another one of these.
There really wasn't much spent on cameos. Everybody was there for Kevin. He didn't die, but it was close. Kevin has described making J&S Reboot as a chance to "play with all my old friends again" and he was very pleased to see how many wanted to come play. BTW, I enjoy the comment post on a Smith podcast with all the laughing emojis. Would a person who likes to talk as much as Kevin, not have a podcast? Smith is very aware that he talks a lot and it's ironic that he's Silent Bob 😂
Imagine this movie without the Ben Affleck appearance........because this scene was literally written in a day. Kevin and Ben Affleck honestly hadn't spoken since after making CLERKS 2, but when an interviewer happened to ask Ben Affleck if he was going to appear in REBOOT, Affleck said, "They haven't asked and I'm available." Both Jay and the producer literally had to BEG Kevin to try and call out to Ben, so he tried one of his old cell numbers, which still worked. They chatted and reconnected before Kevin asked if he wanted to make an appearance. Ben said "Sure", but originally the only thing Kevin could think of was putting him in the CHRONIC AND BLUNTMAN trailer as C__________R (which was shockingly enough was going to be Macaulay Culkin until he had to drop out due to family issues). Then, Kevin thought about bringing him back as Holden, and all us CHASING AMY fans got a "mini-sequel".
I've loved the Jay and Silent Bob stuff since like 2003 and his podcasts have been great as well. My wife and I actually were going to get married by him but she decided she needed her Dad to do the wedding, which is fair, but he had agreed to do it. That being said, if you want some Kevin Smith different, check out Red State, it's the only true horror movie I've seen in a while. Very scary religious vibes and John Goodman is amazing in it.
I must be slipping in my old age. I haven't even seen this. I watched your reaction before watching the movie. I'm still going to watch it on my next day off.
You know, I watched Jersey Girl a lot as a kid, and it holds a special place in my heart. I'm sad people didn't seem to like it. I think about that movie a lot now that I'm a single father.
The scene with the Klan had two movie references "Can you dig it?" is from The Warriors and ABD is a reference to Glengarry Glen Ross, "ABC" "Always be closing." Both I highly recommend.
Yes, you have to see Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter is Dead. It is a little like Married With Children and The Devil Wears Prada had an illegitimate child…
I already adore you & your channel but I have to say watching how you've reacted & completely enjoyed the Kevin Smith universe has me loving you that much more ❤️ I feel this is what truly has made you my MovieBFF..
He was working on Mallrats 2 but things fell through… again so he is doing a 3rd Jay and Silent Bob. The reason is he owns those characters. Dogma is owned by Harvey Weinstein and he has said he isn’t letting it go. Mallrats is In similar situation. Clerks he had better luck with but he told that story to its end.
I met Kevin Smith/Silent Bob and Jason Mewes, Jay. Both amazing people to meet and talk to. At the end of the movie when Ben Affleck comes in and shows them his daughter. That little girl is Jason Mewes daughter
Don't let them fool you. Jersey Girl is a beautiful film. Ben Affleck's best acting performance. It just had the bad luck of releasing right after Gigli, and having the same stars, nobody went to see it. Legitimately one of my favorite movies.

Kevin basically thinks Marc's brain is magic, because Marc makes all these sharp and logical observations about stuff that Kevin completely glossed over in his fanboying glee. lol
Kevin and Marc are also the creators/writers of Masters Of The Universe Revelations/Revolution on Netflix (the modern continuation to the old original He-Man cartoon from the 80s).
Holy fuck someone's done their homework
@@jamesrein648 lol
Not really.
Lol
Really? He should really go speak on some College Campuses and Universities… he’d be great at that!
@@davejay6855
That's kinda where his podcasting started.
That actually is Jason Mewes' daughter that plays Holden and Alyssa's daughter
I was surprised Logan wasn't mentioned in the IMDB quiz
if you're getting tears, wait till Clerks 3
Clerks III definitely got me.
Jay actually getting emotional even made me choke up a bit.
Yes your need to see Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead.
Kevin Smith has an earnestness that shines through his movies.
She needs to learn how to do her own lifting if she wants to pursue acting.............Plus, if she finds out I talked to Quentin about getting her in the movie, she'll never talk to me again."
So, yeah, she earned her own way.
I was just looking at your Patreon; and you still haven’t done Clerks 3 yet! It’s time!!!
Kevin Smith recently completed the screenplay for a third Jay & Silent Bob film.
Clerks III next!
It's so good!
Clerks 3 is terrible!
Can't wait till you do Clerks 3... so damn good.
@timothywhitfield8785 No,it's terrible
13:45 The fact that you know Kate Micucci continues to raise your stock. Garfunkel & Oates are Amazing.👍
The fact that you loved this movie has now sent your stock through the roof.
A bit late to this party but I'm chiming in to mention that I'm among the likely many that's eagerly anticipating a Clerks 3 reaction from you.
Still loving your voice two years later 🎉❤
I like people who are educated in film and comedy it's way more fun to watch when you actually know who they are lol
Plus it's a rather sweet story
Speaking of Jeff Anderson, Randall didn't have an appearance as I believe this was going to be a link to what would have been Kevin's pre-heart attack version of Clerks 3 but later on it got re-written to the Clerks 3 that was made. Also in reality, I believe there was some tension as Jeff didn't want to return to the Askewniverse which halted Kevin's plans for Clerks 3 until the two of them reconciled during a signing event for Clerks just prior to Reboot being released
Hemsworth was doing press for a movie in LA and had 3 hours to make his flight overseas, but managed to find the time to shoot his bit.
I think Hemsworth is one of the good guys. He even sort of apologized for Thor Love and Thunder.
@@davejay6855I think it's a parody of reboots.
Please finish your Askew journey with Clerks 3. If you thought this movie had "emotional payoff", Clerks 3 will ruin you. In a good way of course.
Hear hear.
"I have a girl daughter" is absolutely a sequel to the line "you mean the FEMALE clitoris?"
Jay's daughter is Kevin's real daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, who played a baby Silent bob and then the kid in the window in Clerks II.
5:42 - that's the opening lines of the longest tv show Law and Order
Thank you.
New to the channel and been binge watching and I hope you watch clerks 3 cause it is so good 😂 oh by the way goodbye horses 🤣
You thought this movie hit at the heartstrings? Make sure you have tissues handy for Clerks III. That movie is a big tearjerker.
Kevin Smith has helped me a lot in the past, and I think it's important that his fans show him a lot of love while he goes through a tough time.
you KNOW immediately afterward I'm gonna rewatch your original J & SB reaction
I think one thing I, and many others, enjoy about this universe is how it feels like we’re on an inside joke that nobody else knows about. You gotta watch essentially all the Smith movies to get the refs.
I mean, it’s sort of a brilliant way to get someone to go back and watch your back catalog. Been a fan since renting Clerks waaaaaay back when, I’ve raised my kids to J&SB, I love seeing it come around for them.
7:33 - Hey, check that shit out! They re-used the opening song for Mallrats: Social, by Squirtgun. 😲
Yeah, you need to do Clerks III next.
Harley was the bomb in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood yo.
Kevin has 1800 podcasts. And he rocked them all.
I think he's up to 2,000 podcasts now
The best thing is Jason Mewes & Harley Quinn Smith are probably the same way in real life since their families are so close. Look under playlists.
kevin smith was from the first wave of celebrities to have a podcast.. going on 2 decades now almost i think

Clerks lll... Amazing cherry on top. You are not ready. You are awesome.
22:30. The classic closers speech by Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glenross
And my favorite 11:06 , the using of Ted Underhill's credit is a full reference from Chevy Chases classic comedy, Fletch!
Also the running joke throughout the universe is jay confusing Helen Keller with Anne Frank. So as blind as anne frank or hidden away like helen keller
I was looking forward to this reaction, now I'm looking forward to seeing your next one in this universe
There’s also the fact that the View Askew movies are owned by about 6 different studios and JSB was apparently easier to make than another Mallrats
Clerks 3 reaction coming soon?
Thanks, Shanelle! 🤭 Cheers to writer/director Kevin Smith.
Kevin Smith is amazing. This movie is so dorky but so fun, and the emotional scenes are devastating.
George Carlin is also in Jersey Girl...
Kevin is an awesome writer and director. 😂
That wasn't the Quick Stop in Jersey, it was an almost perfect facade built in New Orleans where most of the filming was done.
Nooooo sadness!!
Oh yeah, I remember he posted about that!
Great reaction. I can't wait to see what you think of Clerks III.
I must be slipping in my old age. I haven't even seen this. I watched your reaction before watching the movie. I'm still going to watch it on my next day off.
Oh look, another one of Shanelle's videos TH-cam didn't notify me of. Fancy that! 🤬
I got to see this at a special theater showing that included a poster and an extra video from Kevin after the movie. Love that you dig him!
Clerks 3 will make you cry for sure
You know, I watched Jersey Girl a lot as a kid, and it holds a special place in my heart. I'm sad people didn't seem to like it. I think about that movie a lot now that I'm a single father.
It’s a hell of movie. Maybe his emotionally deepest.
9:25 - Feeling personally attacked right now? 😂 Yeah, me too. 😮💨
Just wait until Clerks 3....
Fatman Beyond is my favorite of all the podcast” Kevin does. He does like 3 or 4 different ones.
YES!!!!! Please do Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter is Dead!!! That is a classic 80s no movie.
I swear Jay is slowly turning into Willem Dafoe 🤣🤣🤣
Either that, or he's turning into Brad Dourif
The scene with the Klan had two movie references "Can you dig it?" is from The Warriors and ABD is a reference to Glengarry Glen Ross, "ABC" "Always be closing."
Both I highly recommend.
0:51 - They were making Bluntman & Chronic into a movie, without Jay and Silent Bob's permission.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! THANKS FOR REACTING TO IT!!!

I cannot wait for the Clerks 3 reaction because that movie hit me hard
12:32 casual eyeball touch. Loved it
