You forgot to mention the episode introduction shorts from the Clerks: Uncensored(animated series) DVD release, as well as several Comedy Central commercials reminding people to go out and vote, and the short "The Pool Boy Cometh"
Jason Mewes was in a Canadian show "Todd and the Book of Pure Evil". He was playing a Janitor and was a regular side character. I'm not sure if that fits your criteria as "appeared but didn't actually play J&SB".
Randal's Tuesday was on Kickstarter. Surprised you missed that! Game is a prequel to Randal's Monday. It's supposed to come out this year (2024) And this one will also be on Nintendo Switch. Oh and there's a demo that can be downloaded on the Kickstarter page!
Silent bob speaks on 2 separate occasions in Dogma too. He says "no tickets" when throwing Ben Affleck off the train, then later he says "thanks" when Chris Rock says if they clean up their language he'll put a good word in for them with Jesus.
Not even gonna lie, Bob's monologue at the end of Chasing Amy changed my outlook on relationships and made me reflect on my insecurities as a young teen. It hands down made me a better person.
Your statment is a fine example of the impact television and film can have on society. Sometimes good, and sometimes bad. I'm glad it was a positive, in your case! 👍
Jason mews' story is super inspiring. The spinning image of a zero to hero. Nothing but respect for that man, and I wish him the best in his journey to sobriety
There's certain interviews where you get the distinct feeling Kevin sort of pushed Jason Mewes forward or put pressure on him to change his ways when he got too far into his addiction.
@@_cloudface_ dude .. Kevin tried helping Jason out with his addiction twice .. letting him even live with him and his family. little known fact about Kevin is that he is a devout Catholic. So bringing your junkie friend to the same place your wife and kids live is kinda not something a lot of them do. but since they were childhood friends Kevin did it .. and both times Jason stole a lot of money from Kevin's house and ran off. Jason has even talked about it and the moment he decided to kick smack. he said that he was in his apartment in LA and he was so wasted he didnt know he accidently caused a house fire and he was rescued all fucked up by firefighters
Yeah total good resdearcher lovuing this cpntent. Good addition to it's own universe. Learned soo much from this - I went to theatre for Mallrats! I was so young !
How do you keep covering topics that mean so much to me!? I deeply appreciate the retrospective coz hell, there were J&SB appearances I never even heard of before here! Love your work and thanx for this
i haven't read all the comics, but there was one called Chasing Dogma which bridges their adventure between Chasing Amy and Dogma and i really enjoyed it
And also introduces the World to NPH as a swearing vulgar version of himself. Not saying Harold and Kumar stole that right out of Chasing Dogma...but...they did
@@peartree8338 Which is funny because NPH famously crapped on Jay and Silent Bob (and specifically Mewes' acting ability) while promoting "Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay".
Huge fan, thanks for covering the last comedy film duo. My Jay and Silent Bob collection of DVDs got stolen, and I watched them all monthly. (got my sub bro!)
This was very informative. I didn’t know they were in so many movies. I saw (and loved) them in Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back. I’ll be sure to check out all their other material.
In Dogma, Silent Bob also speaks on two separate occasions. He says "No ticket" on the train and "Thanks" to Rufus / God for considering letting them into Heaven.
Great compilation- I've wanted this for a while. You rarely got to see enough of them in the movies, so this is very gratifying. Good narration, and insight. 5 ⭐️ s.
Clerk's came out on video in 95 my Rookie year as a law enforcement officer and I am five other young officers and our one older officer who was 55 got together and watched the movie and every one of us except our old cop buddy loved it, we were a very small town department. I was hooked and have been a fan ever since.
Honestly, I highly respect cops, you are the people who run into all kinds of unknowns to help people in need. The only grudge I have is with drug laws, as I believe a person should have the freedom over his body to choose what they consume, even if it is harmful. Its a healthcare problem if anything, making it a criminal problem helps nobody. But of course cops are enforcers of laws, they dont write them, so I guess as long as they dont actively seek out to ruin lives I have no problems with them. Its a standard rule of life: “dont be a dick”
I saw Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on pay per view back in 2001/2002 when the movie was going to home video. I had no idea, either, what the universe of their characters was about. I do remember seeing Dogma on like HBO or Starz when I was like 12 and was dumbfounded by what I was watching.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is one of my favorites. I love that Jason Lee is the one that warns them about their comic book being made into a Movie and he also plays the guy who stole it. Plus it has one of my favorite lines. When Ben Aflfeck talks about the order of how you do a movie.... You're like a child. What've I been telling you? You gotta do the safe picture. One of your best videos and a great way to end the year. This dude has gotten me bingeing the view askewniverse since his mallratz vid. And it's great to have the whole Jay and Bob story in one organized video. TH-cam needs to pick this video up! fingers crossed! As always stay cool man B)

Great video! These dudes always been inspiring me. Seems like just the other day I was buying Clerks X (10th anniversary DVD). And though the Clerks cartoon got canned, I do remember having a DVD release of that, which had like 6-8 episodes! Snoochy boochies!
Lots of good memories in here. Kevin Smith also had a View Askew Message Board where fans could interact with many of the actors and friends. Kevin's wife Jen had a room of her own to chat in as well. Sadly, Bryan Johnson got it shut down in a moment of insecurity. Also, The Shining is the new Navy Seals reference after this video commentary. 🤣
I used to watch Soap and Bizarre in the late 70's and early 80's that weren't age-appropriate for me, and I'm so very glad you did the same thing with the Jay and Silent Bob/View Askew-iverse.
Weirdly enough I saw that someone made a video essay on that show about 2 weeks ago, here on TH-cam. I scrolled by it when I was searching for clips of the show.

Absolutely love Jay and Silent Bob, who are clearly the R2 and 3PO of the Askewniverse. Cannot wait for Mallrats II, and hope and pray for a Dogma reissue and sequel.
As someone who grew up in the time when clerks came out, it was pure insanity. You now and then watched a new movie expecting nothing wired and suddenly Jay and Silent Bob showed up for absolutly no reason and just made the movie 10 times better.
Great video. Im still a huge mark for Kevin Smith. I have all his movies and i have my son watching them now. His favorite is the OG clerks but he quotes Mallrats all the time. Its a great feeling passing on the movies that touched me to my son and see it effect him like it did me at his age.
Silent Bob’s spoke in two separate occasions in dogma he said thanks when they were promised a spot in heaven, and three separate occasions in strike back (although they put the line in somewhere without syncing it to smiths voice) correcting jay on purple rain
That’s awesome! I saw Kevin and Jay do a live event at Atlantic City Boardwalk Con in like, 2015? Never got to meet them but it was cool to be in the same room as them. I did meet the actors who played Dante, Veronica, and the Chewlies gum guy at a con though - really nice people.
Someone has probably already mentioned this, but, the bed scene in Nova Rockafella’s video is a homage to/parody of a visual from Kubrick’s The Shining.
This is an excellent video. I just wanted to point out that in the Nova Rockefeller music video, the scene with jay and Bob wasn’t just them getting it on, it was a reference to the ending of the 1980 film The Shining. It sounded like you were not aware of it, so I just wanted to let you know.
Someone else told me the reference personally after I uploaded the video, it’s been a while since I watched the shining but I probably still wouldn’t have made the connection 😅
I'm glad you mentioned the Sergio scene from Clerks 3 at the end. It's my favourite scene from the whole movie, especially cause my dad's name is Sergio.
Jay & Bob's appearance in The Problem by Nova Rockafeller music clip is a reference to the Shining. There is a brief scene in that movie of a person in a bear suit, (some kind of Furry) kneeling in front of a man sitting on a bed. 27:59 Google "the shining bear" if you don't remember the scene.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, changed my life as a teenager.. 🔥

Just been reminded that I haven't seen Fanboys yet...
Jay and Silent Bob strike back was our goto party movie back in the day.
I was working at a gas station when Clerks came out. When I saw it I was like "holy crap this is so realistic"
It was Alanis Morissette's song "You Oughta Know" that Jay was referring to, not "Head Over Feet"
"Noise noise noise" that song pops into my head consistently every few months since that film came out XD

Also, The Shining is the new Navy Seals reference after this video commentary. 🤣
They made a movie called "Vulgar". As you can tell, by the name it kind of is. Yet it is worth a watch.
I saw it way back in... 2015? I chose not to include it because they didn't portray Jay and Silent Bob (similar to Zack and Miri).
i love that scene also, the one with randal and him spilling his soul. such a great dialog.

Silent Bob’s spoke in two separate occasions in dogma he said thanks when they were promised a spot in heaven, and three separate occasions in strike back (although they put the line in somewhere without syncing it to smiths voice) correcting jay on purple rain
I'm so excited I get to meet them both this year!!!!
@@MediaPastimes yeah just got all my stuff for fanboy expo this year counting the days!!! Lol
Great job with everything in the video !❤
Went to see Clerks due to Corrosion of Confomity being on the soundtrack. So glad i did. Smith writes amazing dialog with great characters
Loved em since the beginning. Grade school and the first Nintendo . Yea
I'm glad you mentioned the Sergio scene from Clerks 3 at the end. It's my favourite scene from the whole movie, especially cause my dad's name is Sergio.
Silent Bob also speaks in two seperate okations on Dogma. Aside from saying "No tickets" he also says "Thanks" in the end to Rufus
13:34 I always thought the Alanis song in question was "You outta know", huh... Love the video
I don’t think Jay and Alanis ever got into shenanigans in a movie theater 😅 thank you
Jay & Bob's appearance in The Problem by Nova Rockafeller music clip is a reference to the Shining. There is a brief scene in that movie of a person in a bear suit, (some kind of Furry) kneeling in front of a man sitting on a bed. 27:59 Google "the shining bear" if you don't remember the scene.
