From the very first time listening to this song I cried....reminds me of my mother who passed in 2022....I was four hours shy in arriving to see her before she died....I sat with her body for hours before they took her away....this song brings me back to that night everytime. I love this song Annie.....thank you.
My mom also passed away in 2022 and I sat with her body though not for so long. However, it was an experience I will never ever forget. I miss her so much. Whenever I dream of her, it makes me happy, even when the dream is not that good, but at least I get to see her.
It's NOT jus' a job to her, it's her life! To be THIS good after all the albums she's made?!! There's probably not ONE day o' her life when she's not in the studio...She's like Prince.
That eye focus motion in Annie's gaze towards the camera when the line "I eat you up" brought a chill to my spine. And really, Trent Reznor would find that chorus amazing too.
This entire song hits so much harder at 4:30 in the morning. I'm seeing her in DC in two weeks, & I'm sure I'll be ugly crying even more than I am now when she performs this live. My god Annie.
It may be from what I read that this is a "no persona" album but WOW the way you and the band inhabit the soundscape in this music is just...breathtaking. It truly takes one away somewhere, even somewhere you might not want to go, but need to! On a wonky note, I would give a toe (the littlest one) to get that out of tune flowing sound effect/pedal on the magnificent Rachel Eckroth's piano at the beginning . To sum up my thoughts; YOU ROCK! THIS is aural proof that you just get better and better, and I hope I get to see you perform someday. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ART!
❤❤❤❤❤ im beyond happy that I discovered her music (thanks youtube for the recommendation) I quite simply love her and her work. she's one of the best now...
Yeah, I gotta admit that you know there's a quality that only a handful of musicians attain, I mean, don't get me wrong. There's a lot of talent out there, but it a handful in history of had it, where it's like the music is coming in from somewhere else and coming through them, and that's what this person has. I hope they use it well
A song that leads you down a tense path of uncertainty before becoming a little...reckless! Great song and I just can't seem to take ALL BORN SCREAMING off of my turntable!
this deserves so many more views and so many more likes. not that quantity is equivalent to value but how much better is this than all the others in the charts?! fantastic again Annie. I'm loving the more restrained production of the album contrasting the messier, crazed broken man style and krokodil songs
i came to find out who St.Vincent is, Rolling Stone Mag list St.Vincent as 26# greatest guitarist of all time, that was out of 50. I haven’t heard anything yet that makes me go ooooo yeah i like that!
This hits hard. I was late to the St. V party and give thanks to 6 Music in Lockdown. So cool but, this recent stuff just hits me just so. I cannot say why, it just does. Ta.
Has happen so long that we hear the real Annie, and after explore some sounds you get back to your true self. this music is amazing and feels really authentic.
@@violetgoesshopping I watch a recent an interview of her where she explained that she did what at the moment feel right and is understandable. Masseduction even though that were her lyrics and her songs doesn't feel like Annie, apart from her previous records, she mentioned that was a time where she was demanding a lot from herself. and even though that was the place where she was on time, wasn't feel genuine . This record in comparison feels more like her, the voice melodies, the guitar sounds. the effects created. doesn't seems that she have to go all that route to get here. as she was already all these and her sound is what make her special and characteristic. It is a more mature record sound speaking. massedution have good songs too, however in my opinion this record feels like her.
I've been writing lyrics since I've had any sense of language... More than 30 years later And "I've been mourning you since the day I met you" Humbles me in every way possible...
Great! I'm not familiar with this as a genre, but I can say it reminds me of maybe something like Negura Bunget mixed with Toby Driver - which is a good thing!!!
Penguin's soundtrack is so fire. So many gems.
Gay
@@juicybear7696 shut it trash
@@juicybear7696 you are aware that you just used gay as an insult under a gay artists music video?😅

Reminds me of my ex who just passed away from suicide in a public place. Very powerful feelings with this song. And I wish he could've heard it...

Annie has entered her 'Empress of Doom' era. I love this so much ❤
I'll be her Gir.
That synth drop with the guitar is sick live. The lyrics to hell is near and reckless are some of Annie’s best work.
I came from the Penguin series. It's a great song.
Me too...
“Something I can never have” by NIN. Trent is a huge inspiration to Annie
Holy crap! This song is amazing!
That drop is just penetrating as fk.

The intensity this woman projects is frightening
It's PJ Harvey-esque
This is all that real art stands for. I can't wait to see her in Boston. Fire.
All Born Screaming is a breathtaking album ❤
Her best work since her self titled album.
That beat drop was *powerful*
Such an intense buildup for an explosive drop, such a pwerful feeling! Love this perfomance!
Her music always inspires on so many different levels 🔥

This song is actually mind-blowing!
What a way to switch the feel of an album... Definitely up there with the best songs of 2024
Fucking Awesome! You ripped the words right out of my soul.
CKM is so extraordinarily talented. A great fit for the band.

I don't know if I agree -what's a 'true self?' -they're exploratory journeys -daddy's home/ masseduction that enabled her to get here

This song embodies Sofia Falcone (come Gigante). Callin fo me. The Band is not just one hot 42year old chanteuse , born screaming.
A collaborative session with Fontaines DC could be something special

This is going to be in a movie soundtrack.
Annie come to Montreal!!
Ballsy move to do this live [unless your Annie Clarke with an AC Ensemble]
