NATO Drills Trigger China's Wrath As 'Steadfast Defender 24' Aims To Counter "Near-Peer Adversaries"

- China has slammed NATO as "a walking war machine that causes chaos wherever it goes”. Beijing’s criticism came as the western security alliance kickstarted its largest military exercise since the Cold War on January 24. The Steadfast Defender 2024 exercise that started on January 24 will run through May. A top commander said the drills would rehearse NATO’s execution of its first defence plans in decades, involving a “simulated emerging conflict scenario with a near-peer adversary”. Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko has said the NATO exercises mark an "irrevocable return" of the alliance to Cold War schemes. Russian media has also questioned whether "the drills could become a cover for the delivery of new strategic assistance to Ukraine.

NATO may showcase its latest and greatest but I would not be so convinced or certain that we would fall into areas of where some of our equipment has fallen into disrepair. Have you noticed that whenever we have an airforce demo on the 4th of july, a jet usually crashes, our helicopters magically fall out of the sky, etc. I think part of America's achilles heel is its arrogance and surety that it can conquer any foe. Let's not forget Vietnam, Afghanistan and every quagmire in between. As far as our intelligence capability, many other countries are better at it simply by hacking our secrets or having some contractor put it on the web. I can even recall when the air force rolled out its newly improved security software; leaving its default log in information rather than changing it immediately. It was hacked at first try and within days. Not sure if its just because we're not always thorough or if members of the service are just lazy or dissatisfied with their lack of compensation/benefits (apathy). I just never count my chickens before they hatch nor will Iunderestimate an enemy.

It's all well and good having training exercises but what they don't train for is how to keep the battle front supplied with money, soldiers and weapons. Ukraine being a perfect example.

I hope the exercise IS in fact to transfer weapons to Ukraine. Otherwise, I personally feel that war games only give our adversary insight to our war tactics more so than projecting our strength and unity. Far from it to be honest, drills are called drills for a reason and not drill. NATO has to date over 32 ways (tactics) to overcome a threat. These are based on others drills to date. No adversaries could predict our tactic, and that is why NATO shall prevail in war in the coming years.

Would you want firefighters to stop practicing or maybe doctors only need 6 months of schooling now? I was a professional soldier my entire life and if you want to see what happens when you don't seek self improvement or continue to train watch videos of Russian forces when they get contact, they all dismount and run away leaving the wounded and all their equipment. What would taxpayers say if every time a multi million dollar vehicle broke down and instead of recovering it we just left it. What do sports teams do in between games? You think they just party or do part time jobs? No! They train non-stop every possible scenario to win. You wonder why you never see the US military do big parades with a bunch of tanks and missiles? It's because the US military doesn't practice looking good, we practice being good. The only people who think the US military ever fails or messes up are dumb people who are convinced by lying journalists who don't care about the truth or freedom of information, only about making money convincing people they are doing this to expose corruption, speculation is lying when a journalist does it. All these third rate news agencies and journalists shame their existence by taking advantage of gullible uninformed people and giving unprofessional biased opinions on matters and subjects they aren't qualified to discuss. Remember the commercial with the two guys fishing who own a news company? They get all their information off the internet and the other guy makes helicopter noises to pretend they have a live traffic feed? Anyone with internet a little financially motivated creativity and spare time can be a journalist and start a news company.
