On my end I feel like I have yet to tame this beast. The transparent colors haven't found their place in my painting habits (obviously not for base, but even in mixes). In fact, I haven't felt as successful with any of the paints for basecoats vs the original base set (which is still for me a marvellous experience that has pushed me into this world of mixing further than I had so far). To be honest, they are still on my painting table. However, I find myself reaching for the Monument Pro Acryl more and more. I’m really loving the Pro Acryl.
Really wanted to watch this but the shaky camera was too much to endure. You may want to consider mounting it independently of the table for stability.
Thanks for your input. My equipment has changed quite a bit since a year ago. I’m not sure how long ago, but I installed a boom arm to the wall for the camera. It works great.
If you’re referring to the coverage, sometimes your primer can effect coverage. A lot of times I’ll paint an intermediate color over my primer before I lay down my first real base coat of color. This helps a lot especially if your base color is going to be bright and you e primed with a dark color. Also, adding a bit of white to more translucent colors like yellow can help them cover better. Ah ok. In my opinion the expansion pack is much better suited for getting browns and skin tones without a lot of mixing compared to the base set.
