There's no better feeling in a fighting game when you LOVE how your favorite character plays. Not only do they look cool but they're fun as hell, that's satisfying.

This was me the instant I picked Aigis in Persona 4 Arena. She's been indisputable best girl for me ever since.
Watching this video reminded me that I love playing "bad" characters in fighting games. Maximillian dislikes Kilgore, but I love playing him just because he's the type nobody uses and he's just a busted up prototype of Fulgore that just has weapons everywhere, same with Eagle and others, it's fun winning with a character no one expects to see or to see them win
What I really like in Kilgore is that he's such a great embodiment of characters using their weaknesses to their advantage, which is one of my all-time favorite tropes, not to mention he can be pretty devastating in the right hands. That's even more true for Eagle, watching Bass, Amenty or ThrashHeavy use him is impressive as hell.
I liked Kilgore for his theme ironically enough, but just watching him being a memey jank robot is fun and intruiging at the same time. You do so much, yet accomplish so little, and still doing it really does show Kilgore's will to fight.
@@RosencrantzxGuildenstern Yes exactly, specially with the overheat mechanic, you have less range with the miniguns but do more damage and cause afterburns

It's hard to call any KI character "weakest" because the game has a generally strong gameplay skeleton between all characters. In some fighting games, some characters just get stuck and stomped because the game leaves them out in the lurch. KI has taken ENORMOUS strides to ensure every character can stand up to everyone else. Combo breakers and counter breakers are a MASSIVE factor in this.
That said...I also fucking hate fighting Rash. It made me SO giddy to see a freaking BATTLETOAD in KILLER INSTINCT that it infuriated me how annoying he is.

Kilgore has been used by strong players. Potentially underrated.
Shin Hisako can be zoned out but she is an oki QUEEN. Actually disgusting.
Kilgore is exactly what he was meant to be in KI, the old, bland version of the badass fulgore, he’s meant to be pretty shitty, but in game he can be good but it takes so much damn work to get some good things goin. He’s pretty much like Wall-E if he was in a fighting game if you get what I mean LMAO
I've used Kilgore, and if you see some high level play with him, he's incredible.

Kilgore is mid tier. He is the best zoner in the game (2 fireballs that beat every other fireballs,YRC,invulerable DP that leads into juggles;oki) and has a high comeback/robbery factor (Overheat, Instinct, shadow missiles and forward HP) but he has poor pressure and is hard to play. He is absolutely not the worst and kicks certain characters asses but since there are many notable counter zoners that shut his game down hard (spinal, TJ,Shin hisako surprisingly) he has a tough spot in the meta solo. Kilgore is super legit especially if you have a secondary to cover bad matchups which fairly normal.

This game has THE BEST CREATIVE ARCHETYPES EVER! Agonos literally repositions the wall bounds and MAKE YOU FIGHT HIM..... and that’s just one example
Right? Like Eyedol's two polar opposite stances you DON'T get to switch between so you don't just play the same one all the time
Personally, I love Sabrewulf. He is the ultimate rushdown character, just get in there and do damage, non of that boring sit in block and jump away crap. That's the most fun I have with KI. But I also love to play as Glacius and Kilgore, who are annoying keep away projectile mofos.

Hisako is definitely one of the best characters in the game in literally every respect. Great design, great gameplay, great theme; every part of her execution is excellent.
Formless Odyssey hisako is one of the greatest fighting game characters OF ALL TIME

This game needed a Shang Tsung because I can play many of the characters and morphing into the others would give me more use than the actual Shang since I barely play other MK characters. My fav KI character is Maya. Least fav is probably Omen because of his lame design. This game was incredible. Needs a sequel.

These characters are all so sick, i want to play every single one. I actually lost it when i saw the party frog air humping with dude bro shades on. That makes me wanna play KI for the meme alone
I can't avoid thinking this game should have had the Predator... I know, it was in MK... but God... there is SO MUCH stuff here, than a head hunter seems perfect for it... or at least a Monster Hunter character (Van Helsing/Solomon Kane like or Buffy like at least).... maybe for a future KI IV

Shadow Jago, Omen, Gargos, Hisako, Fulgore, Arbiter, eyedol, and The Combo favorites. Most favorite: Shadow Jago, Gargos, and Omen. Secret most favorite: Hisako.
I think Kilgore and Eagle are actually pretty good at high level but yeah, you gotta put in the work to be able to compete with them at all. Actually that’s true of a lot of characters in this game. They’re effing awesome at high level but you have to be sooo good to get them there and at low level they’re trash (Glacius, Kan-Ra, Cinder, Aganos, Aria, etc.)
The fact I love Shadow Jago: he is the Evil Ryu, but kind of more badass, not only he has one of the best soundtrack and stage but his ultra combo has one of the best rhythm to compare with. The Traits and Instinct traits of his is very interesting and one of the most powerful, useful, and the craziest, "Shadow surge" is a really good traits cause you get to use "powered-up" special moves and can do a real teleportation and his instinct is what I love the most: he can do a Raging Demon-Like move, when you hit opponents with your Shendokuken, you create a dark energy chain to steal AND give Shadow energy, plus Funfact about Shago: if he's in instinct mode and hit them with Shendokukens, he has UNLIMITED Shadow energy to give and he can 4 Shadow moves and 10 surging moves. And he is the Most powerful Gargos super minion, that's the full details of why Shadow Jago is one of the BEST KI characters and one of the most BADASS demonic version of the heroes.
I've seen a pro eagle player do really well. Using the robo eagle to get out of combos made him a very dangerous character.
mrdeeeke eagle is straight up OPPRESSIVE in the right hands... amenty, bass and thrash heavy have INSANE eagles
Killer Instinct 2013 - the (seemingly) only fighting game where _EVERYBODY_ is viable, and thus, there are no *true* high-tiers and/or low-tiers
Every gamer can pick up and play these characters, and they won’t feel truly weak as long as you can get their basics down and practice with them.
Nobody feels trash-tier weak in this game, it’s not CvS2/MvC2 level imbalance, it’s _KI-level_ balance 👍
In other words, this game is near-flawlessly perfect 👌🏽 (sadly missing Ultimates and stages for almost every character)
Fighting games where everyone is viable are becoming more and more common recently, honestly. KI just managed to do it before everyone else.

Eddie Ian He looks fun but he is played by a bunch of douche bags. He’s like the Scorpion of this game. I didn’t pick him up because everyone plays him, and I wanted to try something different.

I was honestly surprised he gave RAAM kind of a bad rating, he used him so well and it was so much fun seeing him play as RAAM and grab and knife people and then stomp the shit out of their heads...
@@MrDibara There's a difference between the first week of a character and 3 years later. Yes, RAAM was an absolute monster at that time when people didn't quite get him. Now, he is easily dealt with by veterans who knows which tools exactly counter his one-dimensional design, and RAAM mains have to adapt with constant small tricks to be even in someone's face, let alone combo them to hell like you saw Max do years ago.

That's one thing I noticed about killer instinct, is that unlike most fighting games, even the characters who are considered the "worst" aren't even that bad. Usually in games in tekken or street fighter, when a character is considered terrible, they are legit garbage, but what I've noticed from watching this game is that every character has a lot of upside to them, even if they are considered low tier
Yeah, KI’s balance is one of its strongest points, I think.

I'm an old school saber player, but Rash is too much fun. You turn into a freaking wrecking ball, have a guillotine kick, and you can summon his bike. My favorite is the giant boot. I love ki. Wish I could find matches easier. I'd play it a lot more. 🍺💨

I really do enjoy cinder simply to just use trailblazer and come it at different angles.
I will admit its tough controlling him sometimes but I feel like that's part of the fun pulling off his moves.

Yep, hate that cheap Shagos. And lately I fight them all the time. But you just gotta train yourself to be ready for teleports and it becomes easy to open'em up.
Watching Max play against Gargos in shadow lords is what made me get this game. Gargos is pretty badass and one of my favorite boss characters
If I had to compare Cinder to a Spicy Taco, Cinder is pretty spicy but I like the Spicy Taco more.
As a die hard Aganos main, I also suffered the pain of fighting those bike flying, armored swinging, bane of a frog Rash way too often when he was released. Though I will admit, it sometimes feels like an old-school beat'em up where Rash is the player and Aganos is the boss and can be fun at times. But the unpredictable flow of high and low level Rash players will always haunt me to this day.
This video makes me want to pick up KI but I don't have an Xbox

I only started maining Rash because I like Rare.
Boy, I did NOT know what I was getting into.
Always felt like I was getting better online (not competitive, just fun) and then I’d fight Kim Wu or Arbiter. Wished Xbox would’ve kept KI going instead of the 20 forza games we have now.
My favorite character's to play were Sabrewulf, Shadow Jago, Fulgore, Arbiter and Gargos

My favorite things in this game are Gargos and Fulgore for two reasons. Gargos has the best shadow move I've ever seen. You'll never hear someone's spine snap more loudly than his shadow grab.
Fulgore is just... Yes.
Not to talk shit about the other guys, my least favorite is nun-chuck girl because she sucks visually and audio. Gameplay just, eh... But yeah, I even love werewolves but my boy Fulgore just has everything Saberwulf wishes he could have.
I think you should do videos like this for all the other fighting games, where you talk about the gameplay and the tools of every character you like and dislike.

If I had to choose, it has to be Kan-ra to be the worst from a competitive view. On Season 2 he was balanced with very few playing him competitively including Sleep. But when season 3 came, the developers decided to nerfed his scarab utility and damage among other stuff which allegedly made Kan-ra have too many bad match ups which made almost everyone drop Kan-ra.
I recall Kilgore has some tournament screen time with a few wins on several mid level tournaments and one major during KI spotlight on the competitive scene since he can counter certain characters soo hard. Plus Kilgore fun to play with once you get used to the pew-pew way of life.
Could you do a breakdown of all characters at some point? Strenghts/Weaknesses and what thier special mechanics are?
I think you went a little too hard on cinder. All his ways of pressuring and frame trapping the opponent are really cool. He also has one of the craziest movement tools in the game, which allows for a lot of creativity.
I felt Raam is a huge letdown because he only appeared on the first one and with Arbiter is okay but not a fan. They could've had a Spartan, agent and a COG as guest fighters or have Buck, Jaxon and Griffin as guests. I'm glad the game fixed what Twilight screwed up with warewolves. With Combo he was (obviously) based on Mike Tyson (along with Balrog) My favorites are Maya and Kim Wu 😘😘😘

Tj was for real a beast and still in but he was literally unbeatable many players couldn't beat him and had many nerfs. But he can hold his own. Thunder lord hes still a demon.
