Co se hospod týká - u mě to není problém. Hospodu "pro pokec" musí vybrat dcera, která žije už 17 let v Rakousku. Hospody zná lépe než já. 🤓
Ale jednu mezírku jsem možná objevil: pěna pivo chrání nejen před zvětráním (oxidací...), a proto pravý pivař nenechá pěnu vyprchat i za cenu, že si dává radši "malá", aby mu nestačila pěna sesednout. Druhý význam pěny na pivu je ten, že stabilizuje pivo v půllitru (z fyzikálně těžko vysvětlitelných důvodů), a pivo se na stůl dostane bez "rozcamrání". 🤣
Zkuste si zakvrdlat s půllitrem bez pěny a s půllitrem s pěnou - uvidíte ten rozdíl. 🧐
Samozřejmě si rádi poslechneme i co znamená "mlíko" nebo "hladinka" - v obou případech jde o způsob čepování piva... 🤔
... jo a ... víte jaký měla původně význam objednávka "natočit pivo"? Napovím: podívejte se na film "Osudy dobrého vojáka Švejka" z 50. let s Hrušínským - hned na začátku je to vidět. 😜

(And overall there are several historical fencing schools around Prague)
And then we have also lot of LARPs in Prague and in Czechia at all... and most of them are historical or fantasy in medieval history (even tho some of them are sci-fi or modern days)

Nice idea, the most things I had do almost 30 years ago. I live near Dresden. So I came with train, car and bike to Prague. As a teenager I had no money for tourist traps and eat with the locals. With my youngest daugther I experienced almost all playgrounds in this beautiful city. 😀
Two points for seing a person with a sword? It's too much! We are everywhere in Prague! I once got into an ellection room with a sword on my back and no-one turned a hair. (I also wrote a urban fantasy short storry where the main character had to go around Prague ready to defend himself against monsters from other dimensions and relied on his carrying a sword everywhere not seeming ridiculous, because, well, Prague is full of swordfiters.)
Once I saw a person with 2 bows in one bag. 😀 10 points for seeing a person with both bow and sword. 😀
yes, it is usual. because historical fencing is one of the most popular hobbies of czechs. this is typical as gardening or so-called "tramping".

Currently in Prague. Total 2 days. I have no plans. My kind of travel is to just walk around and get absolutely lost in such beautiful cities. Every nook and corner is so beautiful. I am in love with the old town.

Nice video. Looking forward being in Prague again in a few weeks. Will be staying in Dejvice where my grandparents used to live. I love escaping the tourist crowds by relaxing in beautiful parks like Stromovka, Šárka or at Hvězda.
Going to my beloved Prague in August for the 20th time, so it will be my anniversary. Love your video's. They will inspire a lot of people around the globe. Still learning to speak some Czech, so for that I don't get a lot of points, but the rest is in the pocket. Extra point for someone who knows why the 28th cross is on the Old Town Square (used to be 27 crosses)...

I almost completed your list as I’ve been in Czech Republic for the last few weeks. This visit it’s been cultural things I’ve been able to appreciate and it’s been wonderful! ❤️ BTW, I do Bellevue it’s the column in Old Town Square that is the newest? I love Prague and have been there twice this visit (am staying in my MIL home) in a village. The country side is beautiful… I love the people, the country, the food, the lifestyle. Thank you for this video because this was exactly what I did and I’ve not regretted one moment❤
And the original one was put down in the times of ending WW1 and Austro-Hungarian Empire and birth of Czechoslovakia as a symbol of monarchy by friends of Jaroslav Hašek, the author of Good Soldier Švejk.

Bez těch anglických pivních turistů by se dalo docela dobře obejít. Ze čtvrté hospody už je musejí do autobusu nakládat lopatou 😝

love the tram system ( it get the bonus points for T3 Tatra - as well as ticket checked - very rare) - went everywhere ...looking forward to riding again --- after 65 years its free !!!

@@DreamPrague I already have seen most of your videos. And besides my wife is from the Czech Republic, but from the eastern parts near Svitavy. This will be my 5th or 6th visit to Prague (I have not kept count), but we always discover new things and places.

Marian column -Mariansky sloup. There was some oppossition to put this Catholic column were czech nobleman and citizens - 27 of them of the protestant belief were executed after the battle of Bila Hora (White Mountain) in 1621. But back to the column: I do not think that the column was newly built, it was standing there before the Communist Coup in 1946. The column was somewhere in depository, probably kept in pieces. Evidently restored. I think it was originally carved & placed in the 19th Century (during Austro-Hungarian Empire/dominance), although the Habsburg emperor was also crowned the Czech/ King of Bohemia.
Mariánskyý sloup v Praze strhl protikatolický dav vedený žižkovským bohémem a anarchistou Františkem Sauerem a to dne 5.11.1918.
Tramvaj Tatra T3 je skutečně klasika, o tom žádná. To už se ale nedá říci o to červeném rádoby historickém povozu, který vozí turisty za 60€. Opravdu nejde o žádný veterán, ale o kýčovitý tahák peněz z turistů. Ve Vídni to jsou alespoň pravé fiakry se stylovým kočím. Praha jen nevkusné káry na turisty jako z Disneylandu.

Tak ešte vystúpiť z metra niekde na Lužinách, Proseku, Opatově, … a prejsť sa miestami, kde býva väčšina obyvateľov. ;)
Krásné video a díky za připomínku mnoha věcí, i když sama bydlím v Praze. To, že jsou psi vychovaní, je pravda - většinou. Nevím, jak ostatní majitelé psů, ale já jsem třeba svého psa učila poslušnost na psím "cvičáku" - je to jako škola pro psy a měl by to podle mě absolvovat každý majitel psa. Učíme je přijít na zavolání, sednout, lehnout, jít u nohy, počkat na místě a další věci. Jak to máte v USA?

I'm sorry but with the dogs, DO NOT pet them unless the owner is present and allows it. The dogs in general might be well behaved but you never know.
Regarding the socks in sandals - I've heard this "stereotype" about Czechs, Germans, Brits, Americans,... Also, as a Czech in Germany, I'm often told that I'm that "typical Czech, dressed all fancy" (when I just wear jeans instead of a tracksuit).
But just so I'm not only nitpicking - amazing video! Did you upgrade your camera? It's so crisp! And a really good idea with the plaques! Our teacher in high school in my hometown once sent us into the streets to find as many plaques as possible. I had no idea we had that many!
I love this new trend with koláče! It was about time! And a bonus point for pointing out the Vietnamese culture!

As far as not petting dogs, I could not agree more! Tobik is one of those dogs and we often struggle with exactly this. Please ask the owners first!! That's why I said in the video "spot the dog" not "touch the dog" 😅

Šnyt is for when you know you'll leave the pub (when your friend finishes his beer for example), so you don't want a normal (0.5L) beer. Small beer is kinda for ppl that admit they can't drink a proper beer (For example drivers or women (or small men, the body mass is what matters), there's no shame in admitting that you can't drink beer.)
You went to school in "cement block"? Lucky you! My school was made form drywall and skewers. Literally. Part of it was even blown away during one storm. And yes. It was in Czech Republic.

Vždycky když cestuju do nějakýho města (ať už v zahraničí, nebo u nás) tak asi tak 1, 2 dny prozkoumávam centrum, ale pak dalších několik dní prozkoumávam okolí kde žijou normální lidi a co tam je, zajedu se podívat třeba i na jejich sídliště jak to tam vypadá, často člověk najde spoustu zajímavejch věcí. V centru je akorát hlava na hlavě a opruzové co furt něco dealujou a orloj jsou stejně jenom "blbý hodiny" jak Pražáci vždycky řikaj. 😀

Srdíčko za vietnamské jídlo! Miluju Itálii a Španělsko, ale tohle mi tam chybí... Pro mě je prostě Pho chuť Prahy a domova...😍
Akorát ta svíčková jako "české národní jídlo" kulhá na všecky čtyři.... Bohužel, v Čechách se jen na začátku 19. století = v době Napoleonských válek potkaly a smísily 3 poměrně výrazně národní složky do jednoho celku - anglický, na zelenině a koření pomalu pečený roast-beef neboli rostbíf, následně po vychladnutí nakrájený na plátky, k němu se přitulila francouzská smetanová omáčka, udělaná z hutného bouillonu = vývaru z hovězího masa a zeleniny, zahuštěného smetanou a dochuceného cukrem a octem nebo citrónovou šťávou - a v ní se máchá bílý kynutý knedlík neboli knödel, původem to kovaný Rakušák. Takže žádnej originální Čech, to jen Angličan s Francouzkou a Rakušákem - a hup do trojky ...!!!!

if we start counting anything thats been reconstructed after the originals been demolished or destroyed then many of even the most world famous historic cities in Europe would be often even less than a century old.

How's that different from many other buildings and monuments in historical centres of number of famous historic German, Belgian, French, Polish, Austrian, Hungarian, Italian etc etc cities.
Is Warsaw or Hamburg or Dresden new 20th century city like Canberra or Brasilia just cos it has to be almost fully reconstructed, as a whole or at least its core, after its total destruction during WW2?
It's been there since like 17th century, it wasn't there for a bit, and it's there again. Its the same like if we decided to reconstruct the destroyed half of the Old Town Hall- it wouldn't be new addition to Prague landscape( unless we changed its dimensions and design) but return of what always been there and what's been only temporarily missing.
@@rehurekj It wasnt there for 100 years and it was destroyed by people for what it represented. Its different than reconstruction after war when destruction was made by enemy.

And its been intentionally reconstructed to resemble the original as much as possible and even using bits and pieces of the original to get it right- that's reconstruction and the why, by whom, when and how the original was destroyed isn't factor in determining whats reconstruction and what's not.
But it's nice to see the mob mentality and ideological fervour of end of WW1 is still alive and kicking.

Currently in eastern Ukraine. I hear Czech more often in here, than in Prague. In 3 days 3 people talked to me in Czech.
I am trying to avoid talking as I can speak only broken Russian, which is not the preference especially on military checkpoints these days.
If there were no sirens and occasionally explosions, I would say I feel more like in the Czech Republic here, than in Prague.

Hi ,arriving in Prague on July 2nd until August 31st. Want to relocate to Prague , have lived there before . Been to prague from UK maybe 50 times .My son is 20 and is czech lives in holescovice I married his mum next to the astronomical clock but unfortunately she has passed away ! Jenom jsem nepochopil co budou turisti s tolika body dělat.Komunita expatů je v Praze celkem velká. Možná je zajímavé co oni na Praze oceňují nebo co jí vadí.Mnozí tu žijí mnoho let a jejich názory by byly zajímavé. Praha potřebuje dostat turisty z centra města do jiných lokalit která jsou velmi kvalitní. jen nejsou tak profláknutá jako historické centrum.Tady by názory expatů velmi pomohly. Tvůj pohled už známe, ale jiný úhel pohledu by byl oživením. Jinak moc děkuji za práci kterou děláš.

Ahoj Jane. Mám dotaz. Jak si myslíš, po letech v Praze, jak česko vnímá svět? Někdy čtu že jsme východ, jindy střed, jindy železná opona. Osobně si myslím že my do Evropy nepatříme, my jsme Evropa(nejen češí, moraváci, slováci, poláci, atd), nedílná součást. Cca 863. To už se dalo počítat. Jak se díváš na historii? A na nynější stav? Pro holku z USA to musí být zajímavé.
PS: Zajímal by mne i pohled na vaši historii a hlavně na původní obyvatelé. Jak se vyučuje.

Jak nás vnímá svět 🙃jako celý svět❓opravdu čekáš že na tohle lze odpovědět 🙄.... no a jinak patřit do Evropy je jen slovní obrat, geograficky o tom asi nemůže být pochyb, tenhle obrat je ale myšlený jako patřit na ekonomickou úroveň západní Evropy 🫠 no a i na tohle nelze opovědět objektivně, záleží na tom co se porovnává a s čím😔všeobecně lze ale říct, že mezi tu ekonomicky slabší část západní Evropy se dnes už v pohodě vejdeme 😎

domácí limonáda je dneska opravdu jenom pro boháče, někdy stojej 3 deci třeba 120 Kč, to už je fakt šílenství i když chápu že ty suroviny jsou drahý, ale na tohle prostě člověk nemá aby to pil, leda jednoui za čas ochutnat

I v Praze by se mohly hledat stopy českého velikána Járy ( da ) Cimrmana 😂 Po něm je pojmenována i hezká základní škola v Lysolajich ( Praha 6 )

Járovi Cimrmanovi předcházela Vinárna u Pavouka vysíláná v Československém rozhlase někdy okolo roku 1965. Možná dřív. Bylo mi 18 let.
When I hear "local from Prague" I consider it an oxymoron. But who am I to tell not living anywhere near Prague. The stereotype is that there just are way too many foreigners and people from other parts of the country making it a distinctly different experience from any other Czech location.

Interesting fact about swords or "cool weapons" in general.
Not even many Czechs know this. (Czech version below)
Czech law has no term of cold weapons. In criminal law, then, a weapon is anything that increases the force and therefore the effect of an attack. So it can be a rock, a knife, but also a dog or a car.
But otherwise we do not regulate cold weapons or specifically knives and swords. (Restrictions may be within the terms of the contract, for example on public transport or concerts and the like)
So if you ever see people with knives, axes or swords, don't be afraid of them.

Zajímavost o mečích nebo obecně o "chladných zbraních".
Neví to ani mnozí Češi.
Český zákon nijak nevnímá chladné zbraně. V trestním právu pak je zbraní vše co navyšuje sílu a tedy i efekt útoku. Může jít tedy o kámen, nůž, ale i psa nebo auto.
Ale jinak se u nás nijak neregulují chladné zbraně či konkrétně nože a meče. (Omezení může být v rámci smluvních podmínek například u hromadné dopravy nebo koncerty a podobně)
Takže až někdy potkáte lidi s noži, sekerami nebo meči, nelekejte se jich.

To už by Jenn mohl více zaujmout festival Colours of Ostrava, to je aspoň kulturní záležitost, ale na Stodolní se jenom chlastá... Ostravský hrad, no budiž, z historického hlediska by to Jenn a Honzu mohlo zaujmout, i nějaké akce tam jsou, ale v porovnání s Pražským Hradem je to spíš jen taková tvrz... A most Miloše Sýkory - co by na něm Jenn mohla obdivovat? Kvalitu oceli? Nasvícení? Dolní Vítkovice jsou také nasvícené a nemám pocit, že by se z toho turisti posadili na zadek! Navíc kdo ví, jak dlouho nasvícení zůstane, elektřina je drahá a je třeba šetřit...💡🕯

@@Last_Starfighter V Ostravě je toho hodně k vidění. Třeba já, která miluje industriální architekturu, vždycky najdu něco nového. Slezskoostravský hrad, část Lidické ulice, Dolní Vítkovice, Zoo, Landek, Poruba, Porubský zámek, Jubilejní kolonie, spousta malých divadel, spousta koncertů. Byl byste překvapený, jak je Ostrava plna kultury. Kdy jste tam naposledy byl?

It always amazes me how the Czech commenters to Jen's videos are full of praise (to the point of brown-nosing) but if the videos were made by one of their own they would be merciless. It is similar to entering a Prague restaurant speaking perfect english and getting much better service than if speaking native czech.

Ano, máte pravdu. Ale v českých restauracích v centru Prahy moc výběr pro cestovatele není. V tomto videu jsem se zaměřovala především pro cizince. :)

Not all of these 3 places - castle, bridge, clock are 600 years all. In fact half of the castle cathedral was built in 19-20 century, in 2029 it will be 100 years anniversary of its full opening.

Trošku tam nesedí stáří našich památek. Dejme tomu Orloj je těch 600 let. Karlův most je už však 666. A hrad máme od 9 století. Ovšem i tak se dá s vaším přístupem souhlasit.
