🙋🏻♀️Ahoj! I just got back from a wonderful 8 days in Czechia! My husband was competing on the USA team at The World Masters Championships ball hockey at the rink in Nove Straseci & Kladno. We used the public transportation when not traveling on the team bus. I used the subway & bus system myself from our hotel by the airport to see the Prague Castle & it was very safe & easy! I can’t wait to come back! I am in love with all the beauty from the city of Prague to the country side. I absolutely loved this trip ! And so many very good outdoor cafes!❤️ September is perfect weather for visiting! Nashledanou! New Jersey, USA👋
Hi everyone, Jen's videos were a huge help to me when I first moved to Prague. I'm starting to make some videos about my life in Prague. My video showing you a rainy day in Prague was posted yesterday. My videos won't be advice style, more like just showing you bits of Prague from my day. I hope you'll consider watching. Have a great day xxx
Amazing video! Thank you for showing beautiful Prague in this unique way. I was born in Czechoslovakia (the Slovak part), now living in USA. But I am thinking about moving back, in fact I am sure of it that I will move back. I visited Prague many times and I never visited Vinohrady. I will put it on my list. I have always been proud of my homeland, but you make me even more proud. And what is a bummer, you making me miss my homeland even more. I LOVE all your videos. I never want them to end :o)
Ah, Jen-I've been back in Canada since the new year, and this warms my heart. Thanks for the stroll through my old neighbourhood today. Let's grab a pint when I return (soonish)! Hope you're doing well!
Although I have been to Prague many times, I spent some time exploring areas of Prague I didn’t know that well like Vinohrady, Vršovice, Žižkov and Karlín this last August. My father lived in Vinohrady after the war and I loved exploring his old neighborhood and especially Riegrovy Sady and Grébovka. Thanks for a great video Jen~ I look forward to every one.
Just happened to see this video and now I am back in time when I moved to Czechia in 2014. By accident, I got my first flat on Manesova and so was able to enjoy the JZP area, markets and shops. My favorite ''local,'' Le Caveau, was a must almost daily, sitting in my favorite chair behind the front door. Then I found a fabulous flat on Safarikova filled with antiques. It was the same rent as any there and the owners said no one had wanted it because it was not full of IKEA decor. I taught English part time and my favorite small town was Kolin, one hour from Prague by train. I also was amazed how quick and easy it was to go to other cities by train: Berlin, Budapest, Dresden (''we're there already?''') but no train to Paris!! The dream came to an abrupt end in March, 2020, when I was lucky to find a flight out (the Czech government gave free tickets home to American university students). I walked out of my flat leaving all my furniture, clothes, books, paintings, glass and porcelain collections, but worst of all friends and students, with no way to say goodbye. But I will return someday. PS Look online at IWAP-an international club for women, which you may want to join.
As a shameless plug, if you want to stay outside the city center in a place that will treat you like family, stay at Svatojansky Dvůr hotel. When I was an expat in Brno over the past two year, including Covid times, I frequented this hotel. After my first visit, I would never stay anywhere else. They treated me like family each time and I will never forget them
Super video! Pokaždé, když jsem v Praze, tak jsem v hotelu poblíž kruháče v 2:50. Díky za tipy na nová místa, kam se jít příště podívat! Zdravím z Kroměříže
Again a beautiful video. And a reminder that I should visit Prague again ;) we used to go there quite often with my wife, but as our kid was born and the covid started, well.. There was no time. Greetings from Slovakia!
God, I wish you have released this video before my last visit to Prague in the summer. I was looking for these kind of places. I still had a good time. I will try to find you there when I move to Prague.
Hey Jen,, thanks for these videos! They are great! :) Prague is my home city but I have lived in London for the past 18 years. You are re-introducing me to it as Prague is constantly changing and I can't keep up when I occasionally visit it. Well done for trying to learn the language - I just challenged my Spanish partner to say "pekarstvi" and she did ok. ;) Please keep them coming! Love from the UK!
Vinohrady has been actually the most hipster part of Prague, but they are slowly moving to Holešovice. There are lots of other great neighborhood in Prague, such as Břevnov, Dejvice or Smíchov. But I agree that Vinohrady is the best place to start with ❤.
Dear Jen, thank you for taking me to Vinohrady, the neighborhood my 32 year old son moved to in June. He loves Vinohrady so much! (And now I do too!!) I am hooked on your videos. They are so enlightening! And... they make me more and more homesick... I immigrated to the US in 1985 and now, for many reasons, I feel like I should immigrate back to Czech Republic! I visited few times during the last 4 years, mainly to visit my 90 year old mom in Brno where I grew up. BTW, my son Steve is hooked on your videos as well. You give so many great leads! He got hisTEFL certification in July and got his first good teaching job already. I am so grateful that he decided to make Prague his new, likely forever home. Take care, can't wait to see your next video 😊 Lenka ❤
Hi Lenka! Congrats to Steve, I hope he enjoys teaching. It was the best way for me to learn so much about Czech culture. Thank you for watching and taking the time to write!

Každopádně jsi skvělá a snad si budu jednou moci poprosit o selfie :) HAVE A NICE DAY
A když jsme u těch triček, zkus nastudovat a vytvvořit o sídlištích na okraji Prahy...i ty mají svou historii a já bych si moc rád koupil tričko , kde bude " Jižní Město"...or " South Park a vyobrazení nejvyššího panelového domu v ČR :) Je to takový symbol Jižního města.... myslím že Praha není jen o centru, i okolí má co nabídnout....i tak opět děkuju za Tvá videa, jsou super pro někoho kdo tu žije vlastně skoro celý život :)
Great video, thumbs up for me, I wish more tourists AND natives would explore more outside of Prague, especially our national parks and castles, great for hiking and biking!
Near "Vinohradska Vodarna" is pub "U vodarny", which has small stage at the basement and amateur musicians have life performances there. Come there on 21st of september ;-)
Beautiful and informative video! If I ever make it back to Prague, I will visit some of these areas. Groeten uit Nederland (Greetings from the Netherlands)

Next, you should make a video about Cernosice, the town south of Prague on the way to Karlstejn. It has a great laid back atmosphere, beautiful vilas, a jazz club, a cycle path, Berounka river, singing birds, and even a beach! Some people from Prague decided to move here especially because it's even greener and just 25 mins from the center. :)
Thank you for this video! It brought back so many memories from when we lived in the area. Vinohrady is indeed one of the best neighborhoods. But if you go a bit further from the the city center, you'll end up in Vršovice. I can only recommend you to visit that part of the city.

Very nice shot outdoor video! What a change from home videos!!! Excellent camera work, Honza!
Hi Jen, the Old Quibbler at your service again - this time only to thank for spoiling Grébovka by revealing it to tourists - not an oasis of quiet anymore... :D
Hi Jen/Honza! We're back for our 10th (I think) stay in Prague, and we've been in the same places you have in the past few days. Loved the street fair on Americke (sp?), got rained on in Altan - love that place - and got downpoured in Korunni. Would love to talk to you in person - I'm writing a novel series set in Prague, featuring an American ex-pat who can bring legends to life. Don't you wish? Anyway, love your videos, especially the Prague neighborhoods, Brilliant.
You picked the right neighborhood for this vid & your stay in Prague: The right amount of tourists (practically none), beautiful streets (and mostly calm), and quite a few parks. For me as a Prague citizen, Vinohrady would also be my choice #1 for living. But can’t afford it. Still, streets and parks are for everybody and they are free, so we can always just go there, walk there, and enjoy the late 19th century buildings and lots of trees. Also cafés and restaurants (although those are not free :)
How movingly for old man, when This Young American lady is speaking so nicely about my born city. Thanks you. Oh again the tears. RYS jiří (sorry for my czenglish)
This area looks very nice for our July visit. The only place I can find online that looks like where you had wine overlooking the vines appears to only be open on Fridays. Is that the right place?
This video seems fresh. Different music, different approach, it works well! Content-wise I think it is great to show people more of Prague and I hope this will be a series of showing individual neighbourhoods. However, I beg to differ on Vinohrady being the best neighbourhood. :-D I see the objective advantages, but I have a minor personal beef with Vinohrady. :-D
Great, I haven't known many of these things myself. I used to go to Grebovka on bike, when I was young and that place with fountain used to be former animal pavilon with artificial rocks - at that time not used, so it was just full of garbage and needles etc... Altan above Wineyard was burned out torso that was out of the reach for anyone. It is nice to see, how much this city has changed in relatively short time. And I must admit, your "R" is perfect already and your "Ř" is practicaly there too. Foreigners must think, that our language has been invented just to make fun of them. Even Slovaks have often trouble with our "Ř". Thank you for great Video
nice video , shout out to 2+kk restaurant in namesti miru, was there a few days ago with nice food and drink , sampled the chicken and steak both delicious
Dream Prague and Honest Guide are the best channels about Prague and the life in Czech Republic as general. But you've made me a little bit angry for not mentioning Jože Plečnik's Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord at "Jiřák". It is very distinctive piece of architecture and much more significant building than St. Ludmila at Náměstí Míru.
Hey, Jen, Wow your Czech is quite awesome in flow and pronunciation, sure maybe it’s not some long speeches but as a native speaker of another Slavic language I’m quite jealous you probably mastered it better than me though my efforts were subpar at best because a good B1 or B2 is not really benefitting me when it comes to my job as a digital nomad…other than that I’m quite introverted and all those basic phrases you need every day or once a week are already in my dictionary dunno how to motivate myself to improve further:))))
Wow! There Is the place where we live 😍. I love that beautiful place too.🙋 Thanks for the video.😊 Grébovka is our close neighberhood, our cat likes to watch people go there.🐱
Jen, I guess this is the best video of the last year from you. What about your expected citizenship? When will be Vinohrady your finally confirmed home place?
All of you should go to Holešovice (Prague 7). This is Prague. Prague 1 is beautiful but also boring and “for tourist only”. Prague 7 is the most closest to a typical Prague. I live here, so.. in short, I know it. :D ❤️
Krásně udělaný dokument o Vinohradech. 10.9. jsem byl v Havlíčkových sadech a je to nádhera. Pokračujte dál v dokumentování hlavního města. Já už to dělám roky.
I don't speak English, so a translator helped me. I hope he didn't screw it up too much. A beautifully made documentary about Vinohrady. 10.9. I was in Havlíčkové sady and it is beautiful. Continue to document the capital city. I've been doing it for years. This city deserves it. I already have several such documentaries about Prague on the channel. Here is a summary of all the videos I have ever made about Prague.
It looks like there is a filter or screen over the camera lens. Maybe it is just me, but this video just doesn't look as clear as it should be or had been before.
I am going to be in Prague for only 8 hours tomorrow...do you have any suggestions for some good, cheap, traditional Czech food? Any places that tourists don't usually know about? Any must-sees while I'm there? Unfortunately my plans did not work out and I'm soon to be an ex-ex-pat.
The best area in Prague is Holešovice, I lived there for 3 years: Stromovka park, Letenské sady, supermarkets, a small shopping center, restaurants, small grocery stores (Italian, French and others) metro, trams, beautiful houses. Vinohrady is very crime district with a bunch of people from all over the world and not always with good intentions.
This video is kind of bittersweet to watch. The district used to be your usual part of Prague. But 10, 15 years ago rents have been unregulated and tons and tons of locals moved away and it transformed Vinohrady in a major way. Still beautiful, but the genius loci really changed. Great tour.
@@aaalllaaannniiisssFor me? Any regulation is bad. However, it doesn't change the fact that it was the main reason why the district has changed so dramatically and lost a part of its charm.
@@aaalllaaannniiisss deregulation is bad, since they can get to levels in which they are totally too high for the local wages... you need to earn 3 or 4x the local minimum wage to pay a rent there... and if you wanna buy a flat, well, then you need to pay it until the end of your life, at least some 30y... There needs to be a limit... some people pay 700€ monthly for a studio, that is robbery. And that drives locals away, and it's been happening all over Europe, and not only.... Vinohrady is beautiful, no doubt, but this neighbourhood and neighbourhing Vrsovice (where the Grebovka park seen in the video is) and Zizkov have become too gentrified...
@@linogalveias regulation is exactly the reason why the prices are that way here. Rigid and slow bureaucratic processes halting the building industry at the worst time (record low interest rates on mortgages and record high stock markets pushing people who fear the bubble into real estate investing) is why the prices are so high relatively to local incomes.
@@linogalveias i’ve lived in vinohrady for almost my whole life and i dont think the neighborhood is gentrified - at least in comparison with karlin or letna - and that you’re overreacting a little. also, vinohrady was always kinda high-end area, so..
Since this Friday St. Ludmila's church is actually a basilica. :) It was titled as basilica minor by pope Francis and the ceremonial announcement was done on Ludmila's name day.

I like the perfect Burčák pronounciation! :)
Wau. Excellent video
Možná vás překvapí, že na náměstí Míru (na začátku Korunní) je na gymnáziu na střeše astronomická observatoř.
Hezké, některá ta místa jsem neznal. Díky. :)
Perfektní!♥
Hello Jen, You should try Parukářka park. It is not so overcrowded as Rígráče is 😉
Lol, Parukářka is Žižkov and it is clear what she thinks about Žižkov:o)
Bucket List vacation
Good video for tourists
Jen, I guess this is the best video of the last year from you. What about your expected citizenship? When will be Vinohrady your finally confirmed home place?
7:52 Na tuhle sexy část jsem čekal!
All of you should go to Holešovice (Prague 7). This is Prague. Prague 1 is beautiful but also boring and “for tourist only”. Prague 7 is the most closest to a typical Prague. I live here, so.. in short, I know it. :D ❤️
Well tbf Riegrag is usually as crowded as historic centre :D
Yes, I barely go there anymore even though it's my neighborhood.
Krásně udělaný dokument o Vinohradech. 10.9. jsem byl v Havlíčkových sadech a je to nádhera. Pokračujte dál v dokumentování hlavního města. Já už to dělám roky. Toto město si to zaslouží. Na kanálu už několik takových dokumentů o Praze mám. Tady je souhrn všech videí, co jsem kdy o Praze točil. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Here is a summary of all the videos I have ever made about Prague.
well vinohrady is kind of like broader city center.
Great video 👍
ooooh gosh, oooooh my god... nooooway. You are my neigbor...Perfect. I am so glad to have this kind of neigbors. BTW you are the real "Pražan".
zajímala by mě reakce kamarádky, když jsi jí ukázala pravou katedrálu, pokud byla ohromená kostelem 🙂
I have seen you yesterday there
You should have said hi!
Cherny Most!
We are apparently almost neighbours :D I l keep my eyes open around Mírák.
No nevím, že by Vinohrady byly víc crime než Holešovice? To asi ne. A mimochodem, celá Královská obora patří do Bubenče.
The Best place is that, you was born. Following Holešovice. HALLO.
No, Smíchov is the best :)
@@jarkarysova4624 A jak k tomu přijdou ty čtvrtě, kde nemají žádnou porodnici?
This video is kind of bittersweet to watch. The district used to be your usual part of Prague. But 10, 15 years ago rents have been unregulated and tons and tons of locals moved away and it transformed Vinohrady in a major way. Still beautiful, but the genius loci really changed. Great tour.
aaaand for you, rents being unregulated is a bad thing, or…?
Moc pěkné video! 👍
Ale bacha, ne "Riegrák", ale "Riegráče". 😉😀
Sympaticka holka ktera se stara o poznani Prahy jinak.
Actually, the saint Ludmila is no longer "just a local church", but a basilique.
We stayed @the pure white hotel, if you get a chance try johnny's pizza "the best!"
I love how GIGIpodebratr stepped up.
... Smíchov is splendid too, because Smíchov has hills and Mozart has choosen Smíchov too ...
