One of the scariest things to me in my imagination is a character interacting with someone outside the screen. Not just breaking the fourth wall but doing exactly what Mario did, “ WHAT DID YOU JUST TWEET” made my heart drop. Even MeatCanyon’s less scary stuff is so surreal and frightening.

And I’m glad that it did just that: It shows the appropriate amount of respect to the franchise on which it is based. It will be a complete disaster if a Mario film pretends to be deep and even attempts to give you some sort of a lecture on life.
It's just a superficial kid's movie. Adults shouldn't even be giving their opinion on it. But frankly if you allow your child to become obsessed with these "iconic" characters and brands purely intended to make money, you aren't a good parent. Get them to read a book for god's sake.
It was a mediocre film, and should never be above criticism. Even for a kids movie. Puss in Boots TLW blew it completely out of the water. There's no excuse for how mediocre the film was, especially not 'its for kids.' But people jizzed themselves over it because memberberries. @@theraymunator I been a fan since 1989, and went into this film with low expectations. Objectively I thought it was a decent film. The mix of the US Brooklyn Mario with Nintendo’s world was done well, the visual style, how Bowser was straight out of the manga was nicely done. Peach was out of character for me when it comes to her voice, and some of her mannerism, like a 90s US cartoon girl power personality, but from a marketing view I see why they did it to appeal to the Western audiences. Over all from a critical view, not counting references to games the film made, it was good. Thing is not one thing is made for everyone.

Im honestly impressed how this movie manages to appeal to both the hardcore fans and general audience. It throws so much at you to the point its both fun and never boring, but also too fast past and doesnt give enough time for characters
The movie was definitely a cinematic equivalent to jingling keys with a mario mushroom keychain attached to it. Its definitely fun if you shut your brain off and accept it's basically junk food designed to make you want to spend money on anything with marios face on it (Hey guys, you like these go carts from the games? Well we have a ride at universal studios thats exactly like this. Book now!). However, i cannot be surprised people couldn't get into it for what are pretty valid reasons. I liked when Mario was playing Kid Icarus, because Kid Icarus Uprising was my game as a kid and then it compelled me to find and play the original game online. And I’m glad that it did just that: It shows the appropriate amount of respect to the franchise on which it is based. It will be a complete disaster if a Mario film pretends to be deep and even attempts to give you some sort of a lecture on life.
It's just a superficial kid's movie. Adults shouldn't even be giving their opinion on it. But frankly if you allow your child to become obsessed with these "iconic" characters and brands purely intended to make money, you aren't a good parent. Get them to read a book for god's sake.
It was a mediocre film, and should never be above criticism. Even for a kids movie. Puss in Boots TLW blew it completely out of the water. There's no excuse for how mediocre the film was, especially not 'its for kids.'

@@theraymunator I been a fan since 1989, and went into this film with low expectations. Objectively I thought it was a decent film. The mix of the US Brooklyn Mario with Nintendo’s world was done well, the visual style, how Bowser was straight out of the manga was nicely done. Peach was out of character for me when it comes to her voice, and some of her mannerism, like a 90s US cartoon girl power personality, but from a marketing view I see why they did it to appeal to the Western audiences. Over all from a critical view, not counting references to games the film made, it was good. Thing is not one thing is made for everyone.

My biggest problem with the Mario movie is that no one even mentioned 9/11. It was such an important world event it really takes me out of it and ruins my immersion that no one would be talking about it.

The movie was definitely a cinematic equivalent to jingling keys with a mario mushroom keychain attached to it. Its definitely fun if you shut your brain off and accept it's basically junk food designed to make you want to spend money on anything with marios face on it (Hey guys, you like these go carts from the games? Well we have a ride at universal studios thats exactly like this. Book now!). However, i cannot be surprised people couldn't get into it for what are pretty valid reasons. I've seen gatekeeping, people hoing "lalalalalala i can't hear you", etc. Over a movie that definitely has flaws.
