    It really is a great arrangement. One thing though is I would like to listen how it would sound like if some of the notes were shifted to the left by just one eight note, especially the ones that are right now at the very beginning of the bar.

      A distinguishing feature of ragtime is the syncopation, the ragged time. I do not hear it at all in this piece. There's more to ragtime than alternating base notes.

    Of all the things that you cannot ragtime, Chopin is the most unragtimeable.

    • @lobliam
      @lobliam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm actually having a go at ragtiming Debussy Arabesque No 1. That's substantially less ragtimeable in my opinion!

Not sure why it reminds me of the movie "The Sting", with Paul Newman and Robert Redford, but I'm glad it does. Is not 12/8, is logically 3/4, and the ragtime is RAGTIME

  • @ComtedeMonteC
    @ComtedeMonteC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    As a classical pianist I must that the playing of the Chopin nocturne at the beginning is awful. Agreed that the point of the video is the ragtime version but it is spoilt by the terrible start.

    • @darkalligraph
      @darkalligraph ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not an actual person playing I believe, rather musescore's in built piano sound.
      If it was, I agree the interpretation lacks any emotion, and sounds like it's played by a robot (which in a way, it is).
      The new version of musescore sounds substantially more natural, but still can't compare to a classical pianist of course!

    • @janetread7925
      @janetread7925 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the slow part at the beginning provides contrast for the entrance to a tap solo…so it works for that.
