I gotta say, I love this format. I know it is just for AwShux and because we can 'preview' in person, but I kinda wish it was a regular thing. Quick fast preview. And they say its not a review but you still get a sense that they (the SU&SD team) like these games when they do in fact like them.
I playtested My Father's Work a couple of years ago and was very excited about it. Seeing real components has me even more excited! I only got a taste of how the app affected gameplay... can't wait to get it.

Merchants is the kickstarter I'm most anticipating this year and also have Honey Buzz coming (added to our Atlantis rising kickstarter order). Add to that Brew and My Father's Work that we now have ordered/backed after seeing this preview. Good stuff all around
Tom, the Iron Rails series is in the category of “Cube Rail” games, not 18XX. They are simplified, abstracted versions of their heavier cousins and play in a much shorter time.
In the preview for *Shinjuku*, the demonstration of how to refresh the Customer Queue got chopped up a bit. There are video links on Shinjuku's BGG page that show how the Queue and Move action work.
"What do we want? Points. When do we want them? Over the course of four rounds, please." I swear, Tom is a gift from the gods to board game players everywhere. That entire Brew description was a joy to watch... which I literally never say about someone explaining how to play a game.

I've played dwellings of eldervale, and its currently one of my top 5 games, its a blast, with a ton of replayability. My only criticism is that it ends to quickly. Oh, and I heavily recommend buying the most expensive edition if you like nice board games, having all of your monsters roar when you put them down (or hit the table out of frustration when a plan falls through) is endlessly hilarious.

You showed Merchants of the dark road, and ive been trying to remember what the heck the title if it was for couple of weeks as i thought it looked kinda interesting back couple months ago, but then it had been so long i couldn't recall what it was, so that was a handy coincidence. Cryo maaaybe i might also consider. Brew im just a blank on, i have to go study more info and play of it because i just am not sure what all is going on in that, as it looked like a lot of things, but just clueless as to story and purpose. It looks nice.
I recommend 'Sting in the Tale' by Dave Goulson if you like bumblebees. Fascinating, part autobiography of Britains foremost bee expert and part bee pop-sci book.

Meanwhile, I now hate Elf Creek Games. Their production values are so very good. Honey Buzz and Merchants on the Dark Road are now onto my purchase list. I will now always spend time to check out their games if they value them so much to apply that sort of attention to detail.
Shinjuku (the game) is set in Tokyo and Shinjuku (the train station in Tokyo) is the busiest passenger train station in the world. Multiple large (>10 story) department stores sit on top of Shinjuku station, many of which are owned by the train companies themselves. This mixture of rail companies owning department stores found in Shinjuku (and in other stations in Tokyo) was the inspiration for the game.
The idea of "My Fathers Work" is really cool and I hope its good but with 3 scenarios, an app, a silly number of components and a heavy narrative focus it just feels like theirs so many ways it could go wrong especially as a kickstarter. Also using universals Frankensteins monster as an icon is just real tacky.
Dwellings of Eldervale seems like a fun game, but this preview also makes it seem half a step removed from those made up supercomplicated boardgames people make TH-cam sketches about.
My father's work sounds awesome but the moment someone says it requires an app Im not interested, I just don't care for apps in games just not my thing.
Darn. I really thought My Father's Work looked great, but I just cant spend that kind of money on a game that requires apps to play. There's just no longevity in them.

Love honey buzz, accessible game with a lovely theme but enough depth to keep most gamers interested
Cube rails, not quite 18xx but a stepping stone to some degree
But also independent enough that they don’t need to be lumped together. I’d much rather play several cube rails games than an 18xx.

Played a game of Chai: Tea for 2. So good. Andrew Bosley did the art. And the KS comes with those lovely tea tins.
The Bees is a great book. i usually describe it to people as "Watership Down but bees instead of rabbits."
