Attention young drummers, I'm 44 and only started using this type of practice about 8 years ago. Take my advice and start learning and applying this material and you'll be unstoppable and highly sought-after for bands of all kinds. Practice it every single day, at least on pad, if not both pad and kit. Start slow. Don't give up. Listen to Noah and other pros, and you'll go far! Edit: It's a fact that the "Duh Duh Puh" changed my life. It's my best friend on drums!
This! This is exactly what I need to unlock the next level in my drumming. You’ve created a potent video here, Noah. Lots of good stuff. Thank you!! Subbed
Great video brother! You did a great job translating these rudiments to the set in a musical, unforced way. I sure hope that the younger players take note of this.
Very professional video and a great way to go about showing how training with different patterns can translate directly to playing, and that it can sound sick
BEAST. Sharing secrets here lad! Also, one of the best tutorials on how to apply this stuff around the kit Can't wait to see what you put out next Peace
This is awesome! Also confirms that the cooler the rudiment is, the sillier name it has. "Sick drumming, what'd you do there????" "I tried diddling into some cheeses right before a grandma and grandpa."
Funny story, its actually a cheap Mapex piccolo snare with a 17 year old kevlar marching snare head. It was just still on my kit from a recording I did before shooting this video. Strange how cool it sounds
I'm not well-versed in hybrid rudiments, so I don't know which is correct, but the way you played the Cheese is different from what was notated. Based on the way it was notated, the double should've been on the second note of the triplet, not the first, which would've made it sound just like a flam drag. The sticking appeared to be completely different as well.
I was waiting for someone to call me out on that! I notated it wrong and somehow never caught it on all my editing rewatches. The correct cheese is how I played and explained it.
TERRIBLE VIDEO.
¡Gracias!
Yes, but what really helps is going slow for long periods of time while using the techniques needed for faster speed. Its all about muscle memory. Check out my video on playing faster for a deep dive on that concept
I wish more ppl talked about the actual execution of grip, and the way the stock moves in your hand.ive been playing twenty years, but always just kinda did the rock, lars ulrich thing which is playing from the wrist. Im still trying to understand the double stroke, as i can do it, but you see ppl doing it on their pants leg and super clean. So its always said its not about the rebound.you can use it, but dont rely on it. Than others kinda show how its coming from the fingers, but that always seems to be at very slow speeds and once it picks up, it seemingly,is more about the wrist.yet theyllnsay theyre not using wrist at all. Its really something that just bugs me,and i dont know any drummers and ive never had a real lesson
I notated the cheese wrong, the way I explained and played it is the correct cheese. Cant believe I missed that!

GREAT VIDEO BROTHER…! Very Appreciative..!🥁😎
I always wondered what that egg beater sweep lick was that you played!
Just swingin my arms around!
Found my drum teacher!
What snare drum are you using? Sounds wonderful! Thanks for the great video!
For this video, its the cheapest steel Mapex piccolo snare money can buy, with a 15 year old kevlar marching snare head. A true wildcard.
Snare on the kit sounds amazing! What is it and what’s the head?

Why are these rudiments named the way they are? I'm new and maybe this would help me remember the patterns if I new the orgin of the names.
Some of the names are come from how they sound, like puh duh duh. Others are just fun, I assume.

I use puh duh duhs and heirtas so much and I need to expand my "vocabulary" more
10/10
Regarding speed, i heard holding patterns at three quarter speed for long periods of time was a way of gaining more speed. True?
Yes, but what really helps is going slow for long periods of time while using the techniques needed for faster speed. Its all about muscle memory. Check out my video on playing faster for a deep dive on that concept
Can you do a double stroke video please ??
I have a double stroke video!
🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝

Hey check out my other videos! I go deep into technique, the process and mechanics of playing faster, and doubles as well!
When he started calling them Puh duh duh and grandmas I thought he was making it up. Are these drum line rudiments?
Yes, they're hybrid rudiments. Drummers have a fun time naming things, these are only the beginning
"Makes your hands better." It makes you ambidextrous so both hands can execute the same pattern. Takes the clumsiness out of your playing.
Gosh.. That video contents years of practice. I shocked how boring sounded rudiment can turn in some sick beat if applied on kit in proper way.
Great lesson!🎉
