  • Scary effects for your next haunted house, stage or theatrical production can be remotely controlled with a simple DMX controller. Learn how to program lightning, wind and how a “dimmer pack” can make a leaf blower control a GHOST!

    So you are telling me i can use most things with my controller if i get a dimmer pack...I am intrigued.

    • @LearnLizard
      @LearnLizard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well thats partially true. If a device can be turned on and off by plugging it into an AC outlet then it can be controlled via DMX with a dimmer pack. And certain electrical motors and incandescent lights can be dimmed or speed controlled by varying the amount of voltage. So there are a lot of possibilities... (water pumps, blowers, etc. etc.)

    Hey Steve! Thank you for these ideas!
    I had a thought for the ghost that would help remove the noise from the blower, but I’m not sure if it would work. Tell me what you think.
    A compressor located remotely (behind the house to hide the noise) connected to a reserve tank, along with solenoids to regulate air flow via PWM?

    • @LearnLizard
      @LearnLizard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats a really cool idea! Also the compressed air would probably send a better "blast" and make the ghost pop up faster. I'm not that familiar with solenoid switches but they would probably need to be AC (rather than DC) as thats what the dimmer pack controls. Would love to see a video here if you get it up and running!

    I have the same controller and the same Haze machine. I see that the controller has a dedicated fog button and it’s MIDI. Do I have to have a cable with MIDI to Dmx? Or can I run it MIDI to midi by hooking up to the remote MIDI on the Haze machine?

    • @LearnLizard
      @LearnLizard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi- The Obey 40 manual says that the fog button will work with "compatible" Chauvet fog machines. I've never tried connecting the "fog out" on the Controller to the "remote in" on the Hurricane 2. (I'll have to give it a try) That said, using DMX gives more control over the individual parameters of the Hazer so is probably the best approach. Appreciate you watching!

    Steve: Thanks for this video! I might go back out and get a haze machine - but um the last time we tried it we almost asphyxiated the bar patrons (it was a very well-known brand and model, but it apparently didn't work right lol). True story.
    So we need to look at a different alternative. We'll look into the Hurricane Haze 2D.
    Much appreciated! Keep the videos coming!

      Appreciate your kind words! The Haze 2D uses water based haze fluid, and I have never had any breathing problems with it (and I have certainly been in rooms where the haze was thick) It really makes a huge difference especially with beam lights and lasers so I highly recommend getting one!

      @owengamez Thanks for the kind words! A hazer makes all lights look better and my mini LED moving heads look great with the Haze 2D. (you can see them here: th-cam.com/video/X-vSXeuwOwA/w-d-xo.html) Good luck and Happy Birthday!

    Can a fan be automatically sound controlled by deep bass frequencies via the DMX controller or some other control method? Use case is I want it to activate a fan in home cinema use when my subwoofers play sustained bass notes for a 4d theater effect. Only on subwoofer ULF channel low frequency content. You have any suggestions?

    • @LearnLizard
      @LearnLizard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmmm- that's an interesting question. If you could could get a MIDI signal to trigger with sound you might be able to do it that way (possibly with raspberry pi or arduino?) Or here's a crazy idea: maybe you try using one of those motion/sound activated security lights and run the fan directly from it- Curious to know what you figure out.

      LearnLizard that security light idea is a great one!!! Ill look into that. I ended up buying this late yesterday and will try it first.
