The Tesla Model Y is a great car - and the most sold e-car in the world in 2023 - but it is not the competitor of the Polestar 4. I saw the Polestar 4 live, and as a Tesla Driver let me tell you: It‘s a complete different world of quality, finish, design, materials used / Interieur, … So the competitors are Porsche Macan, Audi Etron Q6, Mecedes EQE, …
I agree. I am surprised anyone would consider comparing the P4 to a model Y tbh. I just completed a 2 hour test drive in the P4 yesterday and it is a very impressive car. The build quality, materials used etc. are really top notch. I found the camera rearview mirror took a while to get used to only in the sense that moving one's eyes from the road in front to the mirror took a split second for my eyes to adjust to the mirror. That might just be me (I don't need to wear glasses to drive but my near vision is not perfect). The single motor version I drove felt surprisingly fast. I have a Polestar 2 dual motor performance and initial takeoff from a standstill felt quicker in the P4! I know this might seem unlikely but the P2 has been electronically 'hobbled' to contain the power. The P4 was more responsive 0-20 mph or thereabouts. I really liked it and will probably order one.
@@PauloG100i feel the same as you about everything! I upgraded to Polestar 4 2 weeks ago here in Sweden and I have had the Tesla s 2021 and Tesla y 2022 and after that i upgraded to Polestar 2 and now to Polestar 4. I ain’t never touching a Tesla again. The build quality and the quality of road/window sounds is crazy. The P4 gotta be one of the most quiet car.
As far as I know from motorsport, stiff setups are due either to high speed in order to keep the cars down or due to a high load. Of course, it is less comfortable, but on the other hand, it is also less fatiguing driving a car with a stiff setup. I like the setup of Tesla Y. It is similar to carbon aero road bikes that I prefer when I want to go fast to more comfortable steel, alloy or titanium road bikes. I guess it‘s a matter of choice.
Interesting how we, as humans are finding technology moving too fast for us to adapt easily. I rarely look out a rear window; I use the rear mirror of reversing camera in my Polestar 2. No hint of range anxiety after a month either. As technology changes - and it’s getting faster - we have to keep up.
I am driving a Tesla model 3 and using only the screen with rear cameras when I go back. I agree: takes some time to adapt but then it’s on the „brain muscle“. Just for people wearing glasses it might be an issue.
It will feature, as an option, electrocromatic roof. But not until 2025. Other than that I am definitely getting one. Really looking forward to test drive it. I think they already corrected the suspension since these testcars were not production cars.
I am also quite keen on one, but the reportedly poor efficiency of the dual motor is off putting. I am hoping that there was something off with these Spanish test cars in that respect, too. I believe that the front motor disengages when cruising so it shouldn't be much less efficient than the single motor.
@@CompletecarIe I think it's a better solution. You get a wider view and a much better nightview. I can hardly see anything out my rearwindow on my current car. I do believe that it will take a little time to get used to, especially when in reverse and the the need to turn your head. But I am trying not to do it my current car and thats ok, it's just a matter of "getting used to".
Your opinion of the screen and rear view mirror is based on your age. Younger generations under you would prefer less but and looking at blind spots. Cameras gives more of a view than a human can look over shoulder.

Pointless to compare with Tesla as Polestar aims for premium brands. Compare prices and specs with Porsche instead, then Polestar 4 is a bargain

A lot of modern cars that have windows still are quite reliant on the camera, as rearward visibility is so bad.
