This is my Great Grandparents' home and thank you for the video walk through. It has been a long time since I have been there to see it in person. I do agree that it is sad that the home has been abandoned due to the sale of the property many years ago by Melvin's side of the family. Alice was my grandmother.
I’m so happy you like it. I met Linda a few years back and she gave me the grand tour! A lot of great comments in here. Wonderful family and amazing old house!
@ theKrisLite , it’s such a shame that it was left to decay that way. It has such good bones and beautiful wood work! I would love to hear some more stories about it and memories! ❤ I’m sure we all would!
This home is still beautiful to me! Amazing staircase, and woodwork! All that crumbling plaster makes the rooms look worse than they really are. It has good bones! It still could be restored if someone could afford it ❤️
We can see the decades like they are passing before our eyes...the wringer washing machine, the old wooden chairs, the old stove, the sofa, the 1960s lamps. Sad as it is to see the house abandoned and in such disrepair, I'm glad to hear the original builder lived a long life, and that when he and his wife had to leave their home, they left together. I loved the views from the arched windows in the attic, and the staircase (despite the bird droppings). As others here have said, I appreciate the being able to read the history of the original family, and explore with you, rather than being distracted with a lot of narrative such as "Oh man, look at this!" I feel that your films of these homes are very respectful, and you are documenting their current state. In 30 years everything may be completely gone.
Such a shame to see these beautiful homes lost to time and the elements. If only they could continue on through more generations and families. A sign of modern times when we see these treasures long abandoned and all but forgotten. It made me so sad to think of this couple leave this home for the last time. The home that they shared for so long and raised their family in. And the chairs at the windows in the attic made me picture him sitting there in his elder years reminiscing about the past and contemplating the future. It’s so wonderful to know the history of the family. I’m glad this home seemed to be a happy one and the couple lived a long life. Thank you for another peaceful and well done video.

@ what a beautiful way to put it. I love the quiet, with just the sound of your footsteps, the breeze and the birds. As I watched, literal smells came back to me from my Grandma’s kitchen
Great video - thank you for not narrating or playing music. Just your footsteps and the sound of the birds and the insects are the ideal soundtrack. I always wonder, with places like this - I sort of understand how a house becomes impractical or un-useful to live in - but who moved out leaving the televisions, the vacuum cleaner, the couches and (for whatever reason) the gas stove on the porch? And a robe in a closet. At some point someone decided nah, this house and nothing in it is of any value or use. And left it to the elements. Fascinating.
I contemplated narration, but I think most people don't want to hear someone talk. I know I don't. I invested in a good mic and made nature the soundtrack. It adds to the realism of the tour. Thanks for watching! :)
@@secondaryhighwayI really enjoyed the fact you simply walked around and gazed, perhaps contemplated the lives and time had there. I also like to explore old homes/towns and imagine what the people and times were like.
No, that not what happens. They don’t say “nah.” They say “shit, I can’t get down/up there,” for whatever reason, health, money issues, etc. coupled with the property tax, it ends up being foreclosed, without a future buyer. Either that or someone builds a new house on another part of the property, and just lets the house go. But it’s always a tough decision. In my opinion, those types of people are the worst.
It's terrible to see all the love and hard work this young couple devoted to their dream just rotting away. Eventually, there will be no witness of any memories or existence.
Such a shame that something so beautiful was lost to the elements of time. Would have been a blessing to have had someone refurbish it before it was damaged by time n mother nature. 😢
Where is the loyalty and honor respect and love Acknowledgment of what their people did ? 😢 It truly breaks my heart I guess I'm really old school very old school I did everything for the parents who raised me they weren't even my birth parents but me before their own blood children get everything to carry on their name and teach by nieces and nephews all about them and to respect and honor them it just breaks me that these days nobody has those values. What a beautiful house. Such big rooms and great light. Looks like they lovingly decoraed it for the period. Although it is a mess, someone with enought money and time could still revive it. Such a waste.
What a beautiful old home. It makes me feel so sad to think how much they probably loved this home and how sad it would make them to see it slowly decaying. I know it’s remote but what a loss.
SUCH A GORGEOUS HOME WITH GORGEOUS VIEWS!!! I wish we could have seen pics of the inside of the home when it was fully/comfortably furnished.... beautiful curtains hanging on the windows blowing in the wind.....I bet it was SO INCREDIBLY STUNNING!!💜

Thanks for the tour of this farm house and the history of the family that lived here. It’s always so interesting to see what furniture and belongings that have been left behind. When you said that the crew slept in the attic I could just imagine how hot it would be in the heat of the summer. They sure had a heck of a view!
@@secondaryhighway I agree, not all the time, it is needed. As a music lover, I'd say, the sound of nature is already the "music" we need and it's taking us there with you.
I really love videos like this, you know the history of the place. Whenever I see an old house like this, I can't help but wonder: who lived here and when? And for how long? These old homes have a story to tell or two, happy family times, the kids who grew up there, you know, history. I've heard that the Alberta region is quite wide open and has sparse population. I could only imagine the life they had out there. To know that they lived for so long tells a story in itself. Thanks for a great video!
Yes, Thank you for allowing time for reading the text. I have always wondered how houses as beautiful as this one are abandoned and allowed to deteriorate like this one.
I don't understand how there is no rot in this structure. It is very well built. That staircase to the attic in particular. Just beautiful. Glad they had so many happy times.
I think what impressed me most about David Anderson was his ability to time travel. Being born in 1978 in Sweden and then emmigrating to Alberta in 1905 is quite the accomplishment. This home will probably be inundated with explorers looking for a flux capacitor.
Love these old houses! I bet it was grand when it was new. My wife and I stumbled upon an old home one day driving around. We were new to the area. Supposedly it belonged to the Borden Milk family and was used as a way point for cross country travel.
I’ve been getting that comment a lot. Nobody needs to hear me ramble on about things they can clearly see themselves. It takes away from the atmosphere I think. Thanks for watching.
Great vid!! It's so terribly sad that this beautiful house sits in such a dismal state of disrepair. At this point, I doubt any of it can be salvaged. Once you have multiple rooms completely collapsing, there's almost no hope.
I can imagine all the entertaining cocktail parties that must have taken place there. Everyone dressed up, drinking whiskey from beautiful glasses, and telling stories. Going outside to stand on that porch at night to get fresh air and to hear the crickets.
Gosh to be surrounded by all that nature and such a welcoming feel to the home. Thank you for letting the house speak and is so nice to have a happy story be attached to a home and family, as opposed to the drama and sadness from so many abandoned beautiful structures ❤️
That view from the upstairs bedroom. Is beautiful. I picture the person that was staying in that bedroom woke up to the breath taking view in the morning 😊😮

Very cool video. The old TVs are in amazingly good shape despite being left in a house open to the elements. I like that you added the history and the photo of Dave. Thanks for sharing this find.
From the old console televisions and furniture. I would guess the house has not been occupied since they moved in 1973. Even a small roof leak can snowball into the conditions you see here. Hoping you let someone know where you’re at and have an agreed check-in time for your safety. Thanks for sharing!
This is so sad. Imagine way later in the future. And someone goes into your beloved house and finds it in this kind of condition. So, it hasn't been condemned. Or you wouldn't be able to go in it. But it sure looks like it should be. If not, imagine the cost it would take to fix it. I guess there are some out there with a ton of money and might be successful restoring it. What a beauty it would be. Beautiful house.

Someone hard work neglected into Bolivian. What a shame. Beautiful detailed workmanship on the doors, stairs, & all of the poach. So sad rural areas are falling apart. God bless & enjoyed the video
Oh how your talents put me in these old houses. I feel the children running through the house. Mama cooking and the smells flow through the house. I just found your channel. Love it. So I’m doing some catching up. And you hardly say a word. You let your viewers come to the conclusions!
Kind of cool seeing the old hairdryer and Electrolux vacuum cleaner. Very surprised the doors upstairs are still there, many antique stores pay good money for them.
Awesome video tour. Also the history of this beautiful home was well done. I only wish that someone would totally remodel it. The frame work appears to be solid. I just subscribed. Thank you!
I wonder what happened to Melvin and Alice and where they or their respective children (if any) might be today. Does the family still own the property, or did they sell it? It looks like it's still being farmed. That house must have been gorgeous in its day (the photos from back then were great to see). It's sad and depressing to see it in such decay. And fascinating at the same time.
I enjoyed the sounds and the history of those who lived there. It was fascinating to know where the workers slept. Beautiful home with beautiful views. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, what a nice house. It must have been a great place to live in. It's out in the middle of nowhere! Great framing in the attic, and what a cool attic. Too bad it's doomed!
Thank you for sharing, this must have been a grand house in it's day. I appreciated the silence during the film. 👌 Stay safe, those floors looked wickedly dangerous. ❤
Thanks. Voices of certain people could immediately turn people away from videos, I know it does me. So I opted out. Nobody needs me to tell them what's going on. They can see. As far as history goes, I stick to the facts. Thanks for watching.
New viewer and subscriber. Love your style to just walk us around and not state the obvious. This house is gorgeous. I have watched a lot of different abandoned building videos and have never seen one in this state: just natural decay, no signs of vandalism such as graffiti, broken glass etc. It just shows what time and the elements will do to a property. Good job and thank you!
Thanks Jean-Francois. Yes, I think most people would click away from a video if the music or narrators voice is annoying. I chose to just let nature do its things. Thanks for watching.

I’m gonna say you were quite daring to even go up into the attic. I’d be definitely afraid to especially with how likely it is that the floor would be quite weak. By the way, that vacuum that you found downstairs quite possibly still could work.
me gustó mucho el video el sonido al pisar la madera el escombro suena muy bueno y sobre todo que muestra todo y no se pega en un solo punto muy bueno el video
It seems like no one has lived here since the elders moved out in the 70s. I love the sofas near the stair case / doorway. Looks like one of the first of sectionals

Someone hard work neglected into Bolivian. What a shame. Beautiful detailed workmanship on the doors, stairs, & all of the poach. So sad rural areas are falling apart. God bless & enjoyed the video
Yes. A lot of hard work and family history just lost.
Oh how your talents put me in these old houses. I feel the children running through the house. Mama cooking and the smells flow through the house. I just found your channel. Love it. So I’m doing some catching up. And you hardly say a word. You let your viewers come to the conclusions!
Hi Sharon. Thanks for catching up! I appreciate it and welcome.
Kind of cool seeing the old hairdryer and Electrolux vacuum cleaner. Very surprised the doors upstairs are still there, many antique stores pay good money for them.
It’s very isolated, not too many know where it is.
Awesome video tour. Also the history of this beautiful home was well done. I only wish that someone would totally remodel it. The frame work appears to be solid.
I just subscribed.
Thank you!
Big thanks for watching and welcome!
The land was sold. I've met with the grand daughter of David. She posed for a portrait outside of the house. Many great memories there.
I enjoyed the sounds and the history of those who lived there. It was fascinating to know where the workers slept. Beautiful home with beautiful views. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful old home. Thanks for sharing
I have a ton more old homes to share. Glad you enjoyed this one. 👍
Hey thanks for watching. Yes, I think people are there for the tour not to hear me blab lol.
l love all your videos and appreciate no chit chat 😅 all these homes are beautiful thank you
Well done! Thank you! Amazing place.
I'm restoring a house from this era. The windows not being painted after all them years. A true gem. I could use some of these doors and windows haha
Best of luck. Lots of hard work I bet.
New subsriber here.... love what you do..... thank you for taking us along and resceptfully showing us around....👍😉👌🤗... greetsz from friesland/Holland..... max👍👌😊😎
Thanks Max!! :)
How was he born in 1978, and came over in 1905?
I’m gonna say you were quite daring to even go up into the attic. I’d be definitely afraid to especially with how likely it is that the floor would be quite weak. By the way, that vacuum that you found downstairs quite possibly still could work.
Surprisingly the floors and stairs were rock solid.
The design & craftsmanship are wonderful , so sad to see it going ...
SENTIMENTAL YET HEARTBREAKING, REALLY....A TIME THAT WAS SUPERIOR TO THIS MODERN TECHNO AGE, BELIEVE YOU ME
Thanks Anthony!
me gustó mucho el video el sonido al pisar la madera el escombro suena muy bueno y sobre todo que muestra todo y no se pega en un solo punto muy bueno el video
Thank so much!! 😀🙏
Nice, all around nice video thank you 🙏
Hey big thanks.
terribly sad. good video
Wow three windows in one bedroom ❤
It seems like no one has lived here since the elders moved out in the 70s. I love the sofas near the stair case / doorway. Looks like one of the first of sectionals
Very rare to find furniture in these old places anymore. Not in this shape.
WOW stunning place to live. Thank you for the video
This would be beautiful if redone
💯
I love the vintage shoe!
This is such a beautiful home even in a state of decay!
So many shoes in all the places I explore.
Thanks for watching!
