Maybe he pushes Ukraine for a cease-fire that gives up some of their territory (although that might take a LOT of pushing). That leaves Russia in a pos'n to attack again in a few years. But by then, Trump's term is over, and it's someone else's problem.
Trump is transactional and will do whatever he thinks makes him look good. Currently seems to think that thing is some kind of negotiated peace deal, but if Putin rejects that it could change Trump's outlook on the war.
WW3 started sometime in the last 10 years or so - historians will argue about the date. We don't see it clearly because it's highly asymmetric (think migration, infowars etc) and because as in WW2 it has aggressors with differing objectives who are allies only because of a common enemy, which broadly speaking is Western Civilisation and Culture (and its rules based systems).
Probably will peg it to the 2014 seizure of the Crimea or the start of the Donbass rebellion. Both have that "Mukden Incident" feel. (assuming historians decide to label what is going on as a World War)

The problem is that if you thumb your nose at the rule of law, that fabric that holds American society together won't be there for much longer. Respect for law and order used to be the GOP mantra but now they have a criminal for a president-to-be. That is worrisome for anybody who actually respects democracy.
Your cult has already destroyed that fabric. Trump won because he promised to fix it. I doubt he can, but that is the reality that your out of touch cult is missing/ignoring.
Yeah, i like his spin on things about Europe and Trump, but i am not holding my breath. I just keep thinking back to Trump agreeing with Putin and disagreeing with the US intelligence agencies.
I've been follwing Ryan probably since March 2022. His investigative work is wonderful and he's that balance of integrity an entertainment that makes him so widely respected. He did, however, wander off into speculation and areas that aren't his expertise, as well as make repeated mistakes liek referring to the Baltics as, something like the Balkins (wasn't quite the same). Oil production in the US is and has been the highest in recent years. Ever. It's not regulatory constraints on drilling that is restraining production, but rather refining capacity and price itself. Few new refineries are being opened because they're huge and expensive and if we're at the "end of oil" no one wants to make that investment. Prices are low and could go lower, which means producers don't want to increase supply. So removing and new well formation restrictions in the US is unlikely to have an impact on Russia. One could argue, like he did on European health care (which isn't free), that if Americans all spent $500 less on gasoline per year, that would have a similar impact on price. The US is and has been the largest supplier to Europe of LNG and there were huge investments in port facilities in Europe to increase the level of LNG that can be imported. LNG is expensive and not competitive in price vs pipelines. It's unlikely that facilitating much more LNG will have an impact on the Russian economy. There are quite a few areas that Ryan wandered off into that could have used refinement, but in his characterization of Obama-period aid was a bit misleading. One of the things I saw a lot of in Ukraine during the 2010s was US advisors and trainers remaking Ukrainian forces into something more of a Western model. It was that effort to make NCOs (like the goo sargeant, here) more meaningful. That work didn't get far enough along before the full-scale invasion, but it has been critical. ZSU forces in Donbas at the time would credit the LM TPQ-53s (short-range radar for mortar fire) as having some of the biggest impact on casaulty numbers. Those were in with the blankets from O'bama. Yes the Javelins in 2017 were huge in pushing the Russian armor back into Russia, but I'm not so sure that was Trump helping Ukraine so much as Trump conducting a sale; it wasn't aid. One last thing because I think I made my point on the "wandering off" bit. These two gentlemen talked about how hard it is to really read the sentiment and such in Ukraine. Well come on over! It's not expensive to get to Ukraine from Czechia, for example, and it's pretty cheap to travel around. Get your feet wet in L'viv, then Kyiv, the Kharkiv. Talk to people. Super easy. Talk to troops. Super easy. Yes the media and politicians get it wrong, but don't take my word for it. You have remote jobs, go to Ukraine for a fortnight or something. The Eagles already won the NFC East anyway, but good luck to the Commanders in the Wild Card. ;p
Russian rural population does not buy in supermarkets. They buy in small local stores or just grow own food in backyards, small land plots etc. like they have done for centuries. At night there are no lights visible from satelites, there are no street lights, windows are insulated for cold reasons.
Men killed in Ukraine are mostly from rural population, urban and especially big cities men do not want to fight, that's why there is no second draft. So for the purpose of identifying how many potential soldiers are left estimating rural population size is important.

I suspect most people signing contracts are from the smaller cities in Russia nobody cares about. Those cities like Cheylybinsk might as well be rural given how disconnected the Russian intelligentsia and decision makers are from them.
I don't know what you call rural in Ohio, but Chelyabinsk agglomeration contains about 1.5 million people, three quarters of which are in Chelyabinsk itself. It is the seventh largest city in the country

For personal use-- at 15:12 ryan talks about it's really about china and Taiwan. If America doesn't support Ukraine which has an easy railroad line across the border from allied nations, America will certainly not support Taiwan.
it breaks my heart seeing people dissing Ukrainians for no reason whatsoever trying to undermine their absolutely justified and heroic fight against occupying force. Ukrainians, no matter how problem ridden their society is, no matter the complicated their modern history is, no matter of all the problems they faced and are facing as society and a nation, once attacked, they stood up put out the fight that will be studied for many centuries. Their fight for their land is heroic indeed and this fight deserves all kind of support from western world if half of what western nations brag about their values is indeed truth.
if you see in context of the Iran iraq war 1980 to 1988, the Iranians delayed releasing the hostages until after the USA 1980 elections were over and the Reagan gov was in power, after the Iranian gov made deals with the USA rep party. if elected Reagan would unfreeze Iranian assets and resume the delayed arms shipments that were ordered by the Shah Iranian gov that they overthrew. Well the hostages got released some Iranian assets got unfrozen some weapons went thru , but the USA did not finish the deal on their end due to delays, and this resulted in the Iran contra scandal. with iran angry at the USA and doing terrorist attacks and taking American hostages in the 1980s to get the USA get thru 100 percent of the deal , USA was in a position basically to double cross the Iranians since the Iranians were desperate and fighting for their lives vs. the Iraqis in the 1980s. So in context look at this scenario , Putin helps Trump get elected, Trump then makes a play about ending the war, negotiations collapse, Trump on his end , ends all support for Ukraine. however the EU and their allies step in and provide dramatically more aid to Ukraine, and USA allows Ukraine to buy weapons from the USA using the aid money coming from the Europeans and allies. and the war continues. Not surprised if Putin gets angry and starts doing terrorist attacks on USA European allied industries supporting Ukraine. Which only inflames the west to give more aid to Ukraine. The drip feeding continues as usual but with the Europeans replacing the Americans in drip feeding the aid. I think , the war ends with the Russians holding 20 percent of Ukraine, both sides exhausted. The peace negotiations result in the Russians keeping the 20 percent they conquered from Ukraine in exchange the Ukraine gets security guarantees from NATO , billlions in USD in reconstruction aid. and army gets to rearm with the help of NATO. Russia gets all its assets unfrozen and all sanctons lifted. However yes both sides are exhausted just like the Iranians and Iraqis after their war ended in 88. However both sides armies are not in any state to win against the other. and the Russian army in particular while greatly expanded. its been largely humiliated. with lots of prestige lost. its combat doctrine remains the same , lot of command and control issues too centralized. however its improved esp. in terms of drone warfare, however its weapons stocks dating back to the cold war has been severely depleted. also the war by the time it ends I think the Russians would have suffered about 1-2 million casualties. for like 20 percent of Ukrainian land which is mostly ruins. which the Russians have to spend many billions of USD rebuilding. Also the Russians while ballyhooing they won, will not feel that they have won, many elites will start blaming Putin and each other for the war. Also world oil prices might crash due to the USA drilling more oil under the Trump admin. I tink Putin will probably do a massive purge of the elites after the war just to keep his regime stable which has been destabilized due to the war , and also crack down on rising crime rates, as the Ukraine war veterans return back to Russia, the the crackdowns probably result in rebellions esp. in the ethnic minority areas. Russian economy crashes after the war. with Putin so called Indian and Chinese allies maybe even the North Koreans call on the Russians to pay up their war debts to them. in the face of mounting internal problems, Putin cannot just do another war to distract the Russians. so will probably resort to more purges and internal repression to stabilize his regime. and go on to repair his economy and rebuild and reform his army but this will be slow gong due to various economic problems Russia will be facing like foreign investors not coming back to Russia in droves. like pre war and still European hostility to Russia with the Europeans largely not buying Russian energy products. Also as for the political front, the rise of the PMCs during hte war created many PMCs , and those PMCs are loyal to Russian patrons who are oligarchs. Those guys cant just bve purged by Putin since it might result in a civil war. and the PMCs are paying top dollar and better working conditions and benefits, recruiting from the returning Russian war veterans , no one wants to join the Russian army. and these oligarchs with their PMCs are very much unhappy with Putin. but Putin is still t he middle man they need to keep Russia from going into some sort of destabilization. Now after Putin its really a question on who rules next. if the successor to Putin does not havef the same caliber of managing as Putin then there is a grave problem with Russia having lots of PMCs( even the Rosgvardia is a PMC of the FSB). Then a succession crisis can cause a civil war. Now if this civil war occurs, it will be an opportune time for Ukraine, as Ukraine is probably in a great position to take advantage of it as its probably rearmed and reformed its military with a booming economy and rapidly rebuilding. While Russia on the border has a tanking economy and in severe destabilization. not surprised if Ukraine supports various factions in the war. for hte pirce of returning back its lost territory. So Ukraine manages to take back all or most of its lost territory with a Russia not being able to do anything about due ot it having a civil war.
I don't agree with Ryan. The strength AND weakness of American democracy is that it requires voluntary trust of the government and amongst themselves. That trust is breaking down because of people like Trump. At some point it is irreversible.
Trump did not decide sending lethal aid to Ukraine was a good idea. The US Congress decided sending lethal aid to Ukraine was a good idea, and Trump decided to squeeze Ukraine for political favors before allowing the lethal aid to be sent. I get that Ryan is trying to be politically mild, or neutral, or something, but Trump's slow walking of the aid Congress funded for Ukraine resulted in his impeachment. It's not obscure information or something.
Ryan also doesn't seem to be aware that the 2% of GDP thing is old news. All the NATO countries are, today, meeting the commitment to spend 2% of their GDP on defense except for half a dozen countries nobody cares about and... Canada.
Odd takes all around. If you can stave off a mass mobilization by relying on another nation, it costs less to use their troops than yours. The thing with a dictator is that they are not constrained by the morals of their people.
Perhaps not. But even dictators have political constraints. And from what I hear Putin is reluctant to draft people from Moscow because mass protest might be more likely, and maybe also, there are more relatives of oligarchs in Moscow. But what do I know? Not much.
21:20, Exactly. I was always annoyed by people hating on Americans for not knowing anything about Europe or other countries. You need to understand, US is not a country, it's a continent, it's an entire civilization that doesn't really need anyone else. European countries are like city states in comparison.
@@julius43461 This is actually nonsense. It’s a big country with a lot of devolved power, and both the US, Europe and other countries are part of the same civilisation.
@@rjScubaSki Yeah, but you see you have just merged Europe together to make it a civilization. Not to say it can’t fall apart along predictable fault lines.
I smoked for years, but I always really hated the smell of smoke in my house and never smoked there. That and not being able to run a mile is why I quit.
Too simplistic counting supermarkets in Russia, the country outside of the cities consists of villages divided up into smallholdings every resident, and many who are non residents living in the city will visit on the weekend to, grow their own fruit , veg potatoes, maize etc many will have a cow for milk,a pig for bacon, chickens for eggs, forest for berries, firewood and mushrooms, surplus is bottled, dried, smoked , stored underground or sold. The village shop generally supplies the basics, tea sugar, cooking oil, matches and ciggarets. In the event of an economic collapse eastern europeans and Russians are in a far better position to survive than western counterparts who rely on supermarkets. Probably a far better indicator of population would be the consumption of tea, kasia, cooking oil and other staples. that need to be imported or refined for local consumption.

I watched Ryan for a couple years there, then one day he was casually talking about the arsenal being dropped in Gaza and clarified that he's in full support of Israel, full unceasing and unquestionable support as they give us a taste of a present day holocaust-but-nicer. This is what's tolerated. The ceasefire protests were about the weapons killing 70% minors and women, now estimated well into 100k victims. Photocopy coming to Lebanon next year. This is a man that knows what he's talking about on a lot of things, but he's a military-hammer terrorist-nail kind of guy. He's the sort of dude that I didn't join the military so I wouldn't become. Jokes on me, there's only minor differences here and there. Like not being able to recognize present day atrocities and why they were committed. Peace can be pursued as vigorously as war, but jingoism and a lot of money reverse laundered money.
I agree with so much, except that the United States has been here politically ever before. Never has someone tried to overthrow the government and then been reelected. Or that US citizens, especially the younger generation, feer the loyalty to our country that the people you associate with do.

Not changing how I vote, just now focused on my immediate needs only. They can all live with the cosequences of their abject stupidity. I'm done!!
The problem with potential for Trump to go all in for Ukraine is one of the big points for people to vote for him seem to be spending more on americans... A lot of people dont want to help anybody while their life is getting worse. I wouldnt count on Trump.
Talk about mental gymnastics, so that is how someone can legitimise supporting both Ukraine and Trump. By coming up with some fantasy scenario which totally disregards reality. What can I say the guy is delusional and has mentally managed to fit a square peg into a round hole to ignore a bucket full of inconvieniant truths and his clear bias towards Trump (for whatever reason) is what has driven this. He will know in reality Trump is devoid of all integrity and character, is completely self serving only doing that which he see's as benefitting him personally and Putin will just make sure (as he has been doing for decades now) that his agenda is mutually beneficial for Trump to. The long and short of which means, not only is Ukraine screwed but the US and Western democracy.
The bias is that most Americans support Trump. That is how he was elected. They (& Ryan) clearly trust him as a leader because of that. I don't think anybody really knows what President Trump's plan for dealing with the Russo-Ukraine War is. Most are just guessing. People that pretend they do for certain are simply repeating propaganda from others.

Interesting interview. The entire analysis and projection part concerning the Ukraine war, however, is almost pure fiction and distinctly US in perspective. I think he is underestimating Russia, assuming power projection in their minds works as in the 1900s. Russia will never conclude the war without trade concessions and the losses in the war will be enough to have a gradual transition from a war economy to a regular one over years. With investment money coming in once the war is concluded, it is unlikely Russia will be hit too hard for too long. No matter what deal Germany strikes with the US, any conclusion to the war will lead to increase trade between the EU and Russia, simply because of the tyranny of distance, though it is unlikely to reach any degree of integration and dependence that it had before.

At 30:09, “Up until a couple of years ago the United States was a major energy exporter.” The United States is an even bigger energy exporter now. Right now we are pumping and exporting more oil and natural gas than ever before in history. Ryan needs to stop spreading misinformation.
At 29:45, We will not see the price of oil plummet because of Trump. Biden has done absolutely nothing to prevent or slow fracking. The fracking companies will not frack so much that they cause the price of oil up plummeting regardless of what Trump does because they do not want to go bankrupt. They make less profit if the price of it plummets. Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, wants US fracking companies to go bankrupt. So Saudi Arabia might cause oil prices to plummet by increasing production.

Ryan is also simply wrong about Russia runing out of food, fuel, resources etc. Russia's enormous size (teritorially) means it is incredibly self sufficient in natural resources, more so than any other country and as it has proven what little it doesn't have it can trade for even if you totally exclude it's energy sector. Yes Putin may well not be able to maintain the current level of intensity of it's offensive but it is NEVER going to be so weakened by a lack of resources (anyway) that Ukraine without the whole free worlds commited help will be able to roll it back and I am afraid Trumps win means it most certainly will soon lose that.

Joke is on you, he said the BalkLANDS 🤣. Covering all bases there lol
@@Atlas_21 Balking his way through the interview, indeed. 😂
Yeah where are the Balklands?
WW3 started sometime in the last 10 years or so - historians will argue about the date. We don't see it clearly because it's highly asymmetric (think migration, infowars etc) and because as in WW2 it has aggressors with differing objectives who are allies only because of a common enemy, which broadly speaking is Western Civilisation and Culture (and its rules based systems).
Historians still argue if WW II started in 39 or 37 and if WW I was the third Balkans War, so you might be right.
Probably will peg it to the 2014 seizure of the Crimea or the start of the Donbass rebellion. Both have that "Mukden Incident" feel. (assuming historians decide to label what is going on as a World War)
@@lu544 How is Moldova included? It was not invaded. (Russian troops in its Transnistria region date back to end of the Cold War/breakup of the Soviet Union)

They are claiming that many have died in "automotive accidents".

Big fan of Ryan. .No matter your initial opinion of him, he is an informational asset

At night there are no lights visible from satelites, there are no street lights, windows are insulated for cold reasons.
urbanization of Russia is 75%, rural population is insignificant
Men killed in Ukraine are mostly from rural population, urban and especially big cities men do not want to fight, that's why there is no second draft. So for the purpose of identifying how many potential soldiers are left estimating rural population size is important.
@@yaroslavromanov8357 If you live in Chelybinsk its like living in the middle of Ohio nobody in Moscow gives a shit about you. Its a similar dynamic to the US. Cities like Milwaukee, Cleveland, Detroit, Flint, New Orleans, Baltimore, Mobile. It might be urban but infrastructure is terrible and you are lucky to have it at all.
@@yaroslavromanov8357 Well yes the midwest as a whole is also an amalgamation of Pittsburg and Cleveland along with Chicago, Detroit etc is an interconnected industrial region like Chelybinsk, important people in the capital seem to want to throw under the bus for some easy money. Big fan of Ryan McBeth, but he does not know much about the oil industry. The oil industry is adding and removing rigs to keep the price of oil at a certain point. If oil is above $60-$70/bbl, they will produce. If it’s below, they won’t. They aren’t going to do more work for less money. Who would?
Correction Ryan was in the Army not Marine Corps.
I've been saying since 2022 that World War III has begun. Greetings from a Swedish Geopolitical analyst. ;-)
if you see in context of the Iran iraq war 1980 to 1988, the Iranians delayed releasing the hostages until after the USA 1980 elections were over and the Reagan gov was in power, after the Iranian gov made deals with the USA rep party. if elected Reagan would unfreeze Iranian assets and resume the delayed arms shipments that were ordered by the Shah Iranian gov that they overthrew.
The US has been the largest oil producer for the last 6 years. Ryan really has a huge blind spot on politics and the economy.
I don't agree with Ryan. The strength AND weakness of American democracy is that it requires voluntary trust of the government and amongst themselves. That trust is breaking down because of people like Trump. At some point it is irreversible.
Ryan is naive - also Germans thought 1933 that Hitler is "only a little extreme but otherwise no real danger".

Canada.
Oh funny. Now he's talking about Biden slow walking aid.

@@julius43461 This is actually nonsense. It’s a big country with a lot of devolved power, and both the US, Europe and other countries are part of the same civilisation.
@@rjScubaSki Yeah, but you see you have just merged Europe together to make it a civilization. Yes, Europe is that, but it is not united and of course Slovaks will have to travel outside their tiny city state more often than Americans will have to leave their country.

36:04 WTF Ryan, I thought I stepped on my cat's paw

We don’t need everyone to know about US getting help through article 5 we need Trump to know .
40:00 Russia has a negative population growth and there has been some data suggesting that they are disproportionally fielding men from OUTSIDE of Moscow and St Petersburg. (from statista) Russia only has about 20m men under age 40 and they dont want to go extinct.
A little thing that may have been over looked is the new way the ussr is drafting, they sent out an email and its that persons responsibility to report. The emails were counted as conscription, the emails were also sent to those fighting the ussr so yes the numbers of conscripts is inflated.

At 30:09, “Up until a couple of years ago the United States was a major energy exporter.”
The United States is an even bigger energy exporter now.

@jeanneknight4791 yes, that is why made this comment...
This guy is so annoying
He's full of himself
Russia is falling apart. What news are you watching
@@lu544 They don't need to!!!
The russian army is currently firing North Korean shells and bringing North Korean howitzers in. China has been actively developing drones for them. At the same time, they are both directly importing and manufacturing Iranian "Shahed" drones. Yesterday, they fired North Korean ballistic missiles into Ukraine. If you think russia is self-sufficient you're delusional.
They import much of their food. You've heard of the recent shortages of eggs and butter. If most of the economy goes to the military and less towards food imports, you might just find yourself lacking...food. Outside Moscow, the average Russian can't afford beef, and it's considered a luxury item.
By that logic, Any petro Nation citizen should be living like kings! Some petro nations struggle feeding a huge chunk of their population
🤔 The best policy would be to conduct erstwhile diplomacy by other means.
