    In-lore obviously Godrick used the mimic veil to appear as a woman and flee. But in the gameplay it turns you into an object, so it's funny to imagine all the women and children fleeing and there's like a candelabra just walking behind them.

The campsite being the bondfire near Boc's bush trap thingy. If you think about it, that's caravan is probably from Castle Mourne considering there's a fallen carriage in the main road to Mourne due to the demi-human uprising.
      Also if I remember correctly there should be a troll caravan heading towards Liurnia if you take the hidden route to the side of stormveil, suggesting there's other factions stealing from Limgrave apart from Godrick, though the idea that people are sneakily doing this while calling Godrick the weakest shard bearer is hilarious.

    Honestly, sometimes Godrick strikes me as a bit of an unsung genius
    He was weak but he managed to survive in this very hostile environment surrounded by individuals who were all much stronger then him
    especially with how he fled the capital, I mean he was succesfull in escaping and building his base at Stormveil, wasn´t he?
    If you know that a severely powerful foe waits outside the walls it strikes me to be smarter to flee then to seek direct conflict
    only this initial genius then eroded with time, probably due to everyone looking down on him and eventually gave way to his madness

    • @___.51
      @___.51 ปีที่แล้ว +161

      A cowardly sort of genius- running away from battle, stealing an undefended castle for himself (all the heroes were at leyndell remember), stocking that castle with the most vile rejects from all the other armies, ordering his loyal bannermen to hunt down fresh tarnished to steal their limbs for his abominations… I think Godrick survived because he was so completely irrelevant during the shattering that nobody bothered to take him out, and then ultimately, there was simply nobody left to do so. Which is great lvl.1 boss material if you ask me haha.

    • @___.51
      @___.51 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      @@victorprati7908 I'm speculating here-- Godrick probably wasn't in line to inherit anything. We know he's a distant relation, maybe even a bastard of the golden lineage. He probably survived the night of the black knives *because* he was so under the radar. What I imagine was the castle was all but deserted with everyone off fighting in the shattering, and he more or less strode in with a few retainers and his flimsy claim of lordship. And by the time anyone could challenge him on that, there was nobody left alive to do so. So not too different from from what you're implying. Apart from Godrick (who is a big liar) the only direct connection between Stormveil and the golden lineage is that Godfrey slew the storm lord as his last foe. Do you know of any other connections, implied or explicit that I'm missing?

    • @victorprati7908
      @victorprati7908 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@___.51 (Incoming wall of text containing possible grammar eff ups due to foreign language but I really like to talk about this game so bear with me)
      my interpretation is that Godrick wasn't a direct descendant of Godfrey so he shouldn't have been a target of the black knife assassins (but I'm beginning to believe more in your theory than on a my own lol). I *like* to believe he's really still part of the golden lineage because Enia said so and also because he mimics the earth stomps like his ancestor does (it's probably the axe's doing but who knows if it is inherited power). And c'mon he's dextrous with an AXE it can't be all coincidence :P
      On the subject about the castle my loose connection is in the banished knights' armor scattered in the castle in the same way they can be found in the old Manor inside Leyndell (probably a force led by Godfrey before the capital and its army weren't established yet. ( there's an rustic looking big axe amongst other weapons struck on top of the round table). So my view goes like this: Godfrey and his knights defeated the Storm Ruler during their campaign and built Stormveil Castle then it became a relic past for the next generations of the golden lineage and since Godrick is the allegedly last of the lineage he's the rightful heir.

    • @___.51
      @___.51 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      @@victorprati7908 I like it, frankly I assumed that Stormveil was there before Godfrey, but it makes sense that he might have built it. Take off the gold adornments and it looks a lot like the roundtable hold castle in leyndell which is definitely connected to Godfrey.
      I see the resemblance between Godrick and Godfrey, heck even their accent is similar which I found almost charming. And they look similar, excluding the extra arms. I think, and I'm stealing this from youtubers, Godrick apes Godfrey in every way he can-- the axe of course, but he flails it around wildly instead of wielding it with the skill Godfrey possesses when we fight him. The grafting is like a sick imitation of Godfrey's grafted beast Serosh, but instead of limiting his power, Godrick grafts to increase his power. The gold adornments on everything he owns is like a desperate cry to be recognized as a legitimate heir to the "golden" lineage, but Godfrey "shunned excess adornment". He completely misunderstands what Godfrey was in every way which makes me lol. Godrick might be my favorite character haha

The mere fact that one of two opposing sides that passed through Stormveil was unopposed means he either chose a side or the bridge collapsed in that time span (and even that could have been intentional). I'm not sure about it honestly but there is a decent enough logic to explain why the dragon head becomes alive in the second phase of his fight. The demigods are unable to die due to the origin of their bloodline Marika sealing away part of the Elden Ring, which is the Rune of Destined Death. As a result of that and the fact they can't die, I think it's due to the fact they're constantly radiating power of runes, which are the essence of life itself, to allow for Godrick to make anything alive moreso due to it merely being attached to him if it were alive prior. Wouldn't make much sense to put a dead limb onto himself if it just hung there, right? Makes me think about those spider like children. Maybe they were illegitimate offspring Godrick used to build his army more.

      IRL grafting is a practice where you can prune a branch from a fruiting tree and graft it to a different one, and both fruits will be produced. With a healthy dose of fantasy logic, we can apply the same idea to Elden Ring and see what grafting is and how it works. I think that practically anyone could graft, but it's seen as a profane practice for obvious reasons and done sparingly because of the stigma (and because a successful graft would probably be pretty hard to achieve).

    Someone mentioned the dragon, and how it's a latter generation Dragon too, nevermind the problems that come with consuming dragon hearts. But Godrick was on to something right there. For it was with Dragons that at their pinnacle, represented the totality of life. In the time of the Crucible, a Primordial Elden Ring, where you can see in the weave there exists the domains of many different Great Runes, as well as the totality of Order at its top.
    He never copped it though. Sure he never even valued the Crucible Knight that was hanging around him to see if there was any thoughts about the nature of Runes and of the Golden Order, of the Totality of Order itself.

When the battle turned against Radahn, Godrick used the veil he stole to flee, adding to his embarrassment as a coward. This is why his castle is full of exile soldiers and banished knights instead of Godrick’s own forces we see in Limgrave, because Godrick shunned his army for failing at Leyndell.

      Radahn never encountered Godrick during The Shattering as far as I know. As to why Malenia not only spared Godrick but allowed him to keep his Great Rune, we can only speculate.
      It could have been mercy on her part. The demi-gods are all related, remember. Maybe she actually liked Godrick and didn't want to hurt him. He grew up to be a deranged madman, but the boy Godrick once was may have been kind and friendly.
      It could also be that Godrick's groveling appealed to Malenia's vanity and she allowed herself to be flattered into letting him go.
      Malenia describes herself as a servant of Miquella, even though by rights they should be equals. She seems to acknowledge that Miquella is the brains and she is the brawn. It's possible that while Malenia isn't stupid, she doesn't do anything momentous that Miquella doesn't expressly tell her to. With no orders to kill Godrick, she might have been waiting to ask Miquella what he wanted before committing to a course of action.

      And perhaps you're right about Miquella, but Morgott clearly put him and Malenia on his list of ambitious traitors, they were clearly fighting like Radahn or Ryckard for power, as far as I know, only Ranni was hiding and not actively participating in the Shattering.
      Also, I'm not 100% sure but, Miquella disappearance happened during Malenia's march on Caelid, Malenia never managed to know where he was, and she is still waiting for him, so she is clearly not aware of his cocoon state in Mogh's palace, so I doubt she was fighting Radahn to unlock the movements of the stars for him.

Limgrave is the least messed up of all places, with generally good enough safety, a loyal authority patrolling the place, a well-estabilished center that tends to the area, etc. Yes, he was just a cowardly weak old dude, and his pathetic state resulted in him going full psycho and starting the grafting (which was a concept severely underutilized in the game btw), but I'd say if Godrick wasn't looked down by everyone he would've been probably the best candidate for a new Elden Lord, no joke. Just look at the rest. Malenia and Radahn are maniac warmongers, Miquella and Ranni are trying to overthrow society and start anew completely, Morgott is a religiout bigot with self-hate, Mohg is a blood-obsessed maniac, Godwyn is literally beyond repair, and Rykard is... well, snek. And yet after you beat him, every npc you talk to is flaming him as "a false demigod", "a disgrace", or "coward", almost as if he wasn't meant to be a boss and you had just killed this universe's equivalent of Dr. Doofenshmirtz.

Think about how he used rotten carrior to bring back a dragon, as his own limb. Imagine what that would do with any part of any other demigod.
    He could've grown in power exponentially up to that point, from more and more powerful tarnished, and Katamari Damacy'd the whole land.

    my theory is that in the most fromsoft way,godrick despite being the weakest and the most insecure of the demi gods is right.
    looking at Tree and beast surcoat you can see how he is right about the golden order being wrong.
    this state of the lands between is the result of marika wanting to exclude the beast part of men and her order example:omens are shunned because of their beastly(crucible)looks and godrick is the only person who is using the "true heirs aka dragons"power as they are the original ruler of the land
    him being the mad idiot grotesque person that he is,is more true to nature and the origin of the this lands than any other demi gods as trutle pope said all things must be conjoined.

    Tbh, Malenia's behavior is similar to Godrick. We don't knkw what Malenia was like before fighting Radahn, but keep repeating "i have never know defeat" Over and over again seems so insecure to me, similar to "i am the lord of all that is golden". Perhaps deep down she knew without surprising Radahn with HIV nukes, she won't stand a chance against him, and she sacrifice her honor as a warrior by defeating him ungracefully

    So, an exiled weak prince from a great lineage who falls to madness and craves for recognition from the world and dies brutally? I see what you did there, George, that's basically Viserys Targaryen

      @@childofcascadiaFor example, I imagined Godefroy looking like "Two-headed giant human with four arms (with one-handed Axe in each of them) and snake taił in place of legs".
      In his "second phase" (yes, I gave Godefroy a second phase), he reveals (in very hammy way, obviously) that he managed to "hijack an Evergaols" and used it to "absorb strenght of Evergaol prisoners that Tarnished killed" and transforms into "Godefroy, The Lord of Evergaol" (in this phase, he has six arms , gains Crucible Knight's "dragon wings" and swaps his axes for weaponry used by other inhabitants of Evergaol (Darriwil's Bloodhound sword, Alecto's Black Blade etc))
      In his second form, Godefroy also gains access to all attacks utilized by other prisoners of Evergaol (whose power he absorbed after they were defeated by Tarnished)

    Could you do a lore video about the world of Bloodborne? It would be cool if you did lore studies on the characters of Gehrman, the first hunter and lady Maria of the astral clocktower.
    But if you want to continue ER videos, could you please bring the Godfrey's family?

    I don't think Godrick was ever a good person, or anyone of upstanding moral fiber, but nobody in the Lands Between ever bothered to help him stray from his own delusional path either. Im sure there could've been a chance for him to at the very least become an appreciated ruler if someone believed in him but when EVERYONE both in your own family and the rest of the world sees you as a fucked up loser, of course thats gonna make a huge dent in his mental health which was only allowed to fester into full blown mania once he started grafting

    I feel like Godrick gets too much hate
    He isnt the strongest, or most powerful, but he quite clever
    I know its just a game, so they can get away with unrealistic stuff
    But i like to think Godrick was just very well versed in anatomy and medical practice, since he did graft himself so he had full control of his limbs, and in a manner of seconds grafted a dragons head to his arm he cut off.
    I feel bad for him, it seems like nobody believed in him, he just wanted someone to recognize him, i wouldn't be surprised if grafting become a coping mechanism/distraction from depression of sorts
