Thanks for the great guide. Do you recommend only using the 180 degree shutter rule when using ND filters to achieve motion blur? Otherwise, I should use the auto settings?
The 180 degree shutter angle is definitely preferred if possible. I’m releasing a video tomorrow that really delves into this more and I share the specific settings and tools I use to accomplish this.
I need to keep testing, but please can you tell us if you made some improvements post in any application? I see on other vidoes and in my Osmo Action 5 Pro has very poor detail. You video looks very good as they should.
I did not make any improvements in post except for the clips that I filmed in D-Log M and then graded. The reason my footage probably looks better is because I put the noise reduction to the lowest level possible on this camera. I think the Osmo Action 5 Pro has a bit overly aggressive noise reduction, and, as a result, this can lose some detail.
What Sony camera are you using to shoot the action5 camera with for the explanations? I was thinking of using my Sony Zv1 on a tripod if I ever want to explain camera settings to people on my future TH-cam channel. Do you think that would work? Great video btw.
great review the only thing missing is you didnt showed the super slowmotion...the dji 5pro is able to record 240 fps and then it generates frames in between so you can make super slow videos with 900 fps!!! asi know only sonys rx 100 m5 cameras could do that before. so this option on a 380€ camera is a very cool feature for me.
So with the jitter and ghosting. If I want to shoot 30 fps 1/60 ss in vertical mode will I be able to fix it in gyroflow. One more question what do you recommend settings for fishing on a kayak
Another question I have is how to put things in different folders. Like if I shoot two different spots in a day can I separate to two different folders?
Great question. It does not auto-change the storage from internal to the microSD card. You will have to select microSD under the storage menu in settings.
24:17 You can see the unnecessary ISO and shutter speed increase for auto exposure mode compared to manual that can be crucial to the optimal image quality. Hope any fix will be followed by DJI
DJI seems to be very responsive to their customers and what their customers want so I expect we’ll see another firmware update with further improvements soon.
I have not yet had a chance to do a good night lapse with it due to bad weather where I have been but hoping to get to test that soon and share my findings!
The little blue circular stickers are known as Anti-Slip Pads. These are to enhance the grip between the camera accessories and the Quick-Release Adapter Mount. If you find that the accessory is not firmly connected, using these anti-slip pads can help create a more secure attachment.
I currently have a Freewell ND filter kit that I used in the Action 4. The fit isn’t precise due to the slight change in the lens cover design but I expect Freewell will have new ones for the Action 5 too. I’ll be getting them as soon as I can.
I suspect there are many apps out there that can be concerning with much of the data that is collected. I do recommend checking what data is collected and how it is used before using any app to make sure you are okay with this. I use the DJI Mimo app and am okay with the settings but I recommend you ensure it is okay for you.
The fact that DJI only offer Ultrawide, wide & dewarp at 15mm is the reason I’m not getting this camera. 15mm is too wide and objects look tiny. Atleast GoPro offer more FOVs, particularly when shooting in Linear.
If the firmware update fails reboot the Action 5 and also restart the DJI Mimo app on your phone. Then re-connect them and try again. This should do it.
Enjoyed the video and was helpful. BUT you talked very fast and the finger movements were hard to follow. This is a beginners guide so take a breath and slow down.
Thanks for the feedback. I do my best to balance the tempo and speed with a goal of not going too slow but also not going too fast. Your feedback helps me to better tailor this in the future.
Hi. Sorry to interrupt but you can slow down the video part at the settings to follow the step. As for the video let just record on normal speed because then people will get boring with slow video. Sorry again.
Thank you so much for your time and all that detials you share it with us.
You’re welcome!

Great Video and great explanation of all the settings!! Are ND and CPL filters for DJI Action 5 available for sale?
Stunning delivery, Sir! I cannot think of anything that could've been done better than you presented it! Thank you.
Thank you! I really appreciate your feedback and support!
Appreciate the timestamps. Which one covers audio?
This is the best beginners guide I found, great with those timestamps. Thank you. 👍
Thank you. I appreciate it and am glad you found this helpful.
Great Video and great explanation of all the settings
great video...
Thank you.
Brilliant video.
Is there limit to number of custom presets that can be createdanm saved??

Hi, great video, but I wonder what is the extra stabilization option for, in the pro settings?🤔
It would be cool to make a quick review card to print out to keep when shooting of all these settings!
Good idea. I’ll keep this in mind and see if this is something I can create and share for free on a website.
Best beginner guide I watched. Very informative, answered questions others didn’t. Thanks.

I was using the a7S III. Yes, pretty much any camera can be used for doing so. Many even use their smartphone cameras and get good results.
Hi, thank you so much for all the details.
You’re welcome!
Thank you. Very well explained and shown.
You’re welcome.
Thanl you Sir for the excellent tutorial. I've never used a device like this, so it is very useful for me to learn
Hi can you give me some advice or tips actually i bought osmo 5 pro and whenever i see output its bad even i shot on 4k resolution, idk why ?!
What is the purpose of the rubber ring around the lense? Do

It on? Thanks
@@pyro_chip8287 I was wondering the same thing.
protects the lens against physical damage when dropped.

Thank you very much for the time-stamps.. very useful:)
Absolutely, you’re welcome!
Also can auto iso and nd fliters work in a very sunny environment say for like fishing
24:31 white balance: have you noticed that the OA5 has an improved color temperature sensor? Or is this only noticeable underwater?
Do you have a link for your 512gb sd card you bought?
Yes I do: amzn.to/4dAsBVv
@@GreatDayForAHike thank you , great video! Appreciate it !
Another question I have is how to put things in different folders. Like if I shoot two different spots in a day can I separate to two different folders?
maybe you go into the settings and change the file naming convention for the folder? might work?
Does it auto detect SD micro or do you need to select the storage in settings?
Great question. It does not auto-change the storage from internal to the microSD card. You will have to select microSD under the storage menu in settings.
Have prerecorded on Osmo 5 but can’t get in my Sony A1’s
It will tell you it detected a new SD card and prompt you to switch to it when turning it on for the first time with that new card.

Great video! How does it compare to GoPro(12/13) for Night Lapses?
I have not yet had a chance to do a good night lapse with it due to bad weather where I have been but hoping to get to test that soon and share my findings!
Hi,I from Vietnamese very thanks😊
So good
Thank you.
Why does no one talk about the clear washers that are on that blue card that is with the accessories?

@@GreatDayForAHike Thank you for the clarification on their use!
@The_Essential_Light Absolutely!
@@The_Essential_Light I saw a suction cup mount for car that’s electric so if it looses a little air it pumps up more, $128 but ingenious
@@GreatDayForAHike Thanks! I was wondering what it was for. It makes sense.

@KenToney Yes, it does screw off but getting it off the first time can be challenging. DJI really torqued it down right.
Thankyou 💯

Wondering why I’m getting a countdown on the screen when I start video?
It could be that you have a timer turned on to countdown before starting recording or it could be on Pre-Rec mode.
@@GreatDayForAHike got it thanks

If the firmware update fails reboot the Action 5 and also restart the DJI Mimo app on your phone. Then re-connect them and try again. This should do it.
