- After winning the "Relentless Roof" and "Most Windows" awards at the EA style awards, Agnes Crumplebottom lost everything. Let's renovate her house into something a little less repugnant .
I'm going to try to renovate all 94 lots in the Sims 3 Sunset Valley :S

I really liked how you kept the lore aspects in tact (the unfinished baby room especially), because it just adds so much so Agnes’ character! Definitely did her justice
I couldn't even bring myself to change the details, I figured it was perfect as it was.
I remember one time I actually dedicated to playing Agnes until she died, I had her be a writer that also just kept adopting babies because she could never love again. I think by the time she joined her husband she had adopted like 13 kids.
Omg that's crazy! I have a mod that makes adoption $5000 per kid, so that way I dont end up with too many
You've literally become my favorite with just 1 video,talkative and playing sims3... I've watched EVERYTHING you've posted so far.
This build was a "trust the process" build for sure. The build is imo one of the prettiest and most unique in sunset valley and while i prefer the previous shell for it's.... uniqueness lets say, I do appreciate your new refreshing take on it. It feels like the modern builds from starlight shores and you stick the the honestly really nice interior while bringing on your own rickoswski twist

Yes I'm going to uploaded it as a save file, but with all the sims moved in and unplayed
Really enjoyed this! I'm glad you left Agnes as is. Sims 3 shows the young, hopeful girl who had her dreams crushed and this helps explain why she became such a biatchy prude. Lol the house is lovely! Cheers! P.s. you are killin it here with your channel! I knew you would! I'm so rooting for you! As for the house being called August moon, I always took it as August is the start of fall, the season where everything dies..and moon, short for honeymoon? So, since hubby died on the honeymoon, that's just how I thought about it.

Up until the very end i was really not convinced by the roof. Glad you changed it. IRL a black roof means the house is gonna get SCORCHING in the summer.

They grew on me too, I can't bring myself to get rid of all the original elements
Loving this series! 🤩 The landscaping was amazing! Now Agnes can enjoy her melancholy in her home (without diagonal rooms, of course). Btw the name "August Moon" may refer to the tragic Honeymoon with Erik...poor Agnes, circumstances have made her grumpy🥺

Taking what EA presented us with and making it better is half the challenge with Sims 3. Although I'm sure it wasn't their intention, it is part of what keeps us TS3 stalwarts interested. It was fascinating watching you transform one of the ugliest builds in Sunset Valley into something attractive and interesting. I love your enthusiasm too, it's very infectious: usually I like to build things from the ground up, but after watching you at work, I feel like having a try at renovating something myself.

That's a great idea! She already has a head start!
Funny, I almost never got children for Agnes. She was explorer in Adventure expansion, she was witch, she wrote romance and mystery novels, she went for university. Only if she'd become friends with her husband's ghost and the resurrection opportunity has been rolled (she exist to show ressurection mechanics, I think) or if I have played with newly made sim, she remarried and have kids.
Because she never rolled wishes for having baby or adopting. She's not a family sim after all. And if she got one, she still has royalty for her books to live as queen.
I once had her grow into an old bitter lady
For me, the diagonal is the cutest part of this house! And it is called August Moon (which you know "full moon / her lost half / crescent moon" thing). I never played in this house but I love how it's beautifully "curved" along while my sim driving up Sunset Valley coastal cape. Even though I agree on those diagonals are nasty and hard to arrange.. but that's EA's fault! I built a diagonal resort in Bridgeport so it's still manageable.
Diagonals can add an excellent touch to a build! I know EA did some good ones in Champs Les Sims, but tragically, not this house haha

My boyfriend is playing The Sims 3 for the first time (of any sims game). He'd been getting a bit overwhelmed navigating menus and placing furniture, so he'd just been focusing on his career. He reached level 8 culinary, and between that and his cat hunting, he had over 15k. I offered to reno his house while he was at school, because his poor sim was practicing mixology out in the snow!
Gotta say, keeping most of the shell, and even most of his items, it's much easier to edit down from something existing, that the paralyzation of that forsaken blank grass slate. it felt nice to fix up his lay out and just explore through create-a-style. I never give myself enough time to do that in normal play throughs; it really reinvigorated me, and reminded me that decorating is fun in ts3! Just, being able to match wood tone alone, OMG. I still need to work on my building skills though, haha.
Anyway, that is all to say, great series, great job, as usual!
I usually like to build my own house from the ground up, but I don't want to do 94 houses haha

Hey friend. I just watched this, and want to let you know that I redid the August Moon home. But replaced her with a new Agnes and she now has a toddler daughter born after Eric Darling's death. She found out she was pregnant after his death in my backstory. I rarely will play the family tho.
I saw you kept all the original furnitures, except THAT bookshelf lol. Anyway, I love what you did! Beautiful transformation ❤

EA did do Agnes dirty with this house. Whenever I play her, I give her a makeover because they also did her dirty with that hair.
It's the worst base game hairstyle for women or even men lol

Omg the build looks so good! You gave me some ideas for my own game. The last time I played with Agnes I couldn't stand her big bedroom, do I just cut it on half and made her a proper office. In my game she married Geoffrey Landgraab, so I figured they'll need it more.
When I used to watch builders, I would rarely download the house... I would try to use it as inspiration and do my own thing 😜

Personally I prefer the Landgraab Estate mansion to renovate myself. Using a few of my personal touches. Every time I ever renovated LE I'd add a few of my personal touches, like an awning over the front entrance, a second garage on the other side of the front yard and a second floor of living space. But I do keep the attic floor space as it looks in the original build. Not hard to do. I just replicate the floor plan over the existing attic and then delete it when I add the new floor living space. If you do this, just make sure you use the box tool in wall mode before you paint the outside wall. Then when you're ready to put the roof in place. Delete the walls where the roof will take over as part of the wall build. I also do like renovating the Shotgun house. But then I make a non starter home when I get finished.
I remember you adding lots of details to the LE mansion. I'm not sure if I will redo mine or just include the one I made last year. All starters I am keeping as starter homes because there are only 4 I think and I know simmers like starter homes haha

Hey here's another series idea. I thought of it when you mentioned Agnes. Last time I encountered her in SV I used Nraas MC to etit her in CAH and make her less hideous. So maybe you could give makeovers for the townies. Sort of Queer Eye For The Straight Sim but less people ;)

@@Rekowcski Some of them are untouchable, I agree. I find it's later in the game when I really have to. When you've played a long while, newly-generated NPC Sims pretty much all get made with zeroed-out facial sliders, so they all have wide jaws and the same dumb round head and look like potatoes. So there's one.
Hey just remembered, in a Townbrook game I gave Chase Bayless a makeover. She's got the makings of a pretty girl but for the ears and sunken jaw and the bad hair. I think she turned out quite the fetching young lady.
You are right, such a modern house doesn't fit with old money and dark outfits.
I like how did you add another stool at the kitchen because there's just one where Agnes eats alone.
A pity you didn't buy her a computer to write, but I don't blame you. I like to annoy her by sending her to write at the library in front of a crowd of strangers.

i love playing with this house and love your renovation. somehow it never clicked with me that the house isn't supposed to be agnes's style, it's erik's... that makes so much sense.
my one problem with this house and a lot of houses in sunset valley is how there are only two bedrooms!! it's such a huge house, so it seems like you should be able to fit in a third bedroom somehow.. but it's really hard to do without totally changing the floorplan. there are so few houses in sunset valley with 3 or more bedrooms and it makes me sad. even the landgraab and alto mansions only have 3 and 2 bedrooms each :(
You're right, I think the Alto mansion I could make into smaller rooms, but I want them to be fancy rooms. Like a ballroom, parlour, library, conservatory... stuff like that

I totally forgot the roofing in this house is weird and totally incompatible with the style they are going for. yessh the zinc roof texture?
That roof is good for trailers, not mansions :( I really did try to make it a more classic style, but the shell was near impossible to work with
I'd love your renovation videos even more, if you'd do a small tour around the house before starting the renovation so you can get a feeling for the uglynes. Additionally, a before/after section at the end of the video would improve it, too in my opinion. Anyways, I am a big fan of all your sims 3 videos 😀
I already toured all the houses in sunset Valley in a previous series so I left it out... However next episode I'm going to do that because I actually don't have a speed builds for it,,, I did it when I didn't think people wanted to see :( haha
Hey! Question. I’m so curious what your take on the “Los Aniegos” world for sims 3 is. It was so impressive to me, but when I downloaded it- nothing could load when playing because it was so much.

Love what you did to Agnes house she deserves it🥰. I remember playing her and trying to get her pregnant by her ghost husband but he never wanted to woohoo with her. But when I stop trying with him he always ran away her lovers 😂😂poor Agnes couldn't win or lose in my game.
I tried to make her have babies with someone else and the ghost kept interrupting and scaring the woohoo haha

How are you playing the Sims 3? What platform? I can’t get the game to work on Steam or Origin or the EA App. It’s my favorite game and I refuse to play Sims 4 because it’s just a downgrade from Sims 3. I would appreciate anyone’s help!

The original EA house for Agnes has so much good about it, but EA ruined it with a lack of cohesion in the shell. Each section before the renovation is good by itself, but none of them work together. To top it off, it’s a bad interpretation of a very local San Francisco style (third bay tradition), and a global game shouldn’t be making hyper-obscure references like that.
The remodel fixes everything wrong with the house, especially getting rid of the ugly burlap-lined dining room. It's the house EA should have done in the first place.
I really tried to twist it into a more classical style, but the roof was not possible
