- Hey! This is a brief comparison of Mrs Crumplebottom in the main PC games of The Sims. Took me longer to get this one out cause I was on vacation since Cottage Living was released and the internet was pretty slow, took me 10 hours to make the update and download the pack so I decided to just give up lol. But here it is.
What are your thoughts on Agnes Crumpebottom? I think she's a very "controversial" NPC, either you love her or hate her, and man, I do love her and I'm glad Sims 4 brought her back, took them long enough but I'm glad they're starting to listen and make packs that people ask for.
My opinion?
Sims 1 as always was the introduction and I think it was the quite good. She's a very simple NPC when she's not hitting sims, she's just standing around and you wouldn't really tell the difference if it wasn't for her unique voice. I saw videos where she was way more active than in my game, playing and dancing but I could capture none of that cause mine would just sit and rant, let me know how your behaves cause I'm not sure if mine is broken or what. Anyways, love her little animations and quirks, they give her lots of personality and that's all I can ask for in an NPC.
Sims 2's is more clamed than I remembered, she doesn't react to interactions other than woohoo (again, let me know if yours do lol) and she also dislikes when Sims show too much skin, which could be bothersome if there's a pool. Again, I like her unique animations and the fact that she knits when she's bored, also how she distracts herself by drinking, bowling and gambling, considering her strict attitude, she's living her best life here lol
Sims 3 she was a playable character and I honestly never played her, it got me thinking why Sims 2 was so immersive, the premade families put you in scenarios to display new features, but in her case they make it seem like it's gonna be difficult to get her a partner with a ghost haunting her house but that is not the case, Sims 3's ghosts are way less aggressive than Sims 2's, so I was disappointed in that aspect, but hey, it's cool to get to play her in her young years to redefine her.
Sims 4 was just introduced and she was very well made, I liked the fact that she could be added to the family and that they kept a bit of her past traits/interests, and of course, her iconic purse attack. Overall I would've liked if she had a unique voice and if she had more unique dialogue but that's probably just me.
So my order would be Sims 2, Sims 1/4 and Sims 3 last. But that's just my opinion, let me know what you think and tell me if there's something I forgot (aside from the Sims 1 dance lol) see you on the next one, I'm thinking cows MAAAAYYY be next but we'll see, thank you for reading :D

Makes sense in the Sims 4 with that peek of her having 2 failed relationships in one of her Notifications when using that Heart to Heart interaction.
Looking back...her Sims 1 pose with the purse comes across a bit uncanny to me, and I've played the first game at release.
I don't blame her, it was a tragedy what happenned to her husband, if this was real life she shouldn't dictate people for living their lives, but as this is a game it's what make her unique

I always hated Agnes Crumplebottom in sims 2 but after knowing her backstory in the sims 3 i actually felt bad about her. That's why whenever i play her in the sims 3 i always revive her husband so they can be together.

It’s kinda weird that Agnes doesn’t sound like an old lady in the sims 4 lol. She doesn’t sound like a grumpy old lady at all she just sounds like any other young adult

sims3 and 4 didn't uterlize the old folks voice which annoys me, I want my older sims to sound cranky and old

Yeah, The Sims 4's voicelines are really meh in general. Teenagers, young adults, adults and elders sound basically the same but with a slightly different pitch.

Miss Crumblebottom: I'm about to end their career.
She is a sad tale. Planning on children and her husband dies from drowning on her honeymoon. The unfinished nursery and her husbands grave on the lot says she didn't get over it and expectedly so being a hopeless romantic who loses her love on their honeymoon would be devastating. Then her husbands ghost scaring away any suitor that comes calling she will age up into an elder alone. All her dreams of love and having a family smashed to bits. As a grumpy elder she gets angry when someone is being romantic publicly because it reminds her of what she herself so desired and tragically lost just as it was really starting for her. She is a truly tragic tale and her purse attacks are not funny, but sad.

And i think she was also expecting a baby through that time on the honey moon, so she lost it because of the trauma.
@@mylles1112 There are no miscarriages in Sims games so it had to have been planning to have a child rather than miscarried one.
@@JETWTF It's just a theory, it would sound more dramatic if we had a miscarriage because her envy and sorrow would be way more impactful because of this narrative. Also, if the game was way more realistic we would've traumas like that, i like the goofy style that the sims has but we need more adult content, after all, the sims games were never a children focus franchise and it slowly is becoming too cartoony.
Important reminder: NEVER try to add Ms. Crumplebottom or any other special NPC on your household in The Sims 2, it will likely break your game due to incomplete/corrupted Sim data on these NPCs

Sims 3 is so tragic. Tragic clown ghost, bella ghost on lunar lakes, kraken, now this woman's life.
It truly had the saddest stories:
- The orphan in Sunset Valley that drowned and is burried in the graveyard (Opal Suerley)
- The poor woman that got presumably killed by the Racket family
- Juan Darer who lost his woman from a fire he caused
- Polly Maloney, bless this woman
- That girl that got kidnapped and brainwashed in Midnight Hollow

I think the Sims 3 is a chance for us to actually change the tragic stories of the iconic NPC's and sims from the Sims 1&2 and also for those other tragic characters as well. A chance to have a better story or we keep the main timeline as is... Just my guess..

Agnes Crumplebottom: the only Karen beloved by all
She isn’t really a karen, she had a really sad story in sims 3:
-Failed to have children
-Lost her husband
-Lonely
Karen is defined as an entitled middle aged white woman, she's not white nor middle aged. She's just an old lady who's trying to enjoy her time and these cutsey couples won't let her lol
The sims 4 Agnes is fine but the way she hits people with her purse is way too slow imo

I don't really get why they added her in Cottage Living and made her a vendor. She would fit much much more into a pack like Get Together or anything with dating. Here it feels like they just needed nostalgia points for another "iconic NPC" after people forgot about Bonehilda.
I still have PTSD from Mrs Crumplebottom terrorizing my sims in TS2 Nightlife--I agree; having her run wild in Get Together would've been HILARIOUS! It was so random having her in Cottage Living. She makes more sense even in Nifty Knitting, lol.
They're apparently updating all the characters and giving them proper storylines because so many people have been complaining about how shitty they are. So yes, the awkward addition of nostalgia characters is going to have something to do with that.

Probably so, though she still works ou twell in Cottage Living for the most part. Gives her a bit more things to do and she can still show up anywhere in the world and scold and hit sims. Too bad they didn't bring back the unsavory charltan yet
Sims 1 looked the best. She had the most character and her voice suited her. She also had a wider range of interactions
i love the dialogue popups too, really feels like getting scolded by an old woman and adds a ton of immersion. shes a really endearing character
In my Sims 2 game, Vidcund Curious once had a thought bubble with hearts about Mrs. Crumplebottom when she walked by. I couldn't make him repeat that behavior (yet), but I laughed really hard and long about that.
Another time when they were both in a night club, she was knitting and he was doing the rubrik's orb idle animation, they both looked around, and stopped at the same moment. He then did the "You're crazy" animation when she walked off.
Every time people are doing romantic interactions next to Vidcund he disapproves by grunting and waving the people off.
And today I learned Agnes Crumplebottom from the Sims 4 loves plants and gardening? What is going on?
Me too! It happened with Antonio Monty for me.
I managed to get her to kiss the mayor in sims 4. My spellcaster sim cast an infatuate spell on her. After the kiss they both just carried on as if nothing had happened. If you add her to a household, or if MCCC finds her a home, the game spawns a new Agnes NPC. I've had three of them walking around.

Duuuude! The minute I watched this video I rushed to my sims 3 game to check out the house and when saw the baby room half finished, I felt so bad for her that I spent the next 4 hours trying to revive her husband (no cheats). In the meantime there was a brief romance with a cleaning guy, because "why not"! And just when I thought she will end up with a different dude, the ghost of her late husband bound to the living world with a spell, found the death fish. And so here we are. She is happy, engaged to her husband, pregnant and in reality it's 3:30 in the morning and I have to get up in 3h to go to work.... well done! ;)

i never realized how detailed sims 1 was
I knew nothing about her. My charismatic guitar-playing sim guy got her attention when playing outside the diner one evening in TS3. They started talking, went on one date, and promptly he proposed and she agreed to marry him. After she got pregnant, I sold both their houses and I'm currently building them a nice home on the coast.

Woah I never knew this! I've only played Sims 3 so I just always thought she was a young lonely rich lady. I played as her a lot and as sims who befriended/romanced her, I just liked her so it's so weird to learn she's actually a romance-hating old lady with a sad backstory haha

The Sims 4 with the cottage living expansion pack is the first sims game where miss crumplebottom can be happy and friendly with other sims
I guess in some point is true, but in the sims 3 u can play with her and make her be friendly
But it is true that in the sims 3 it depends on you
The Sims 3 version of her is actually interesting for me, its like we can choose to make her succeed in love eventually or continue making her the bitter anti love lady she's known as now.
However, its kinda dissapointing how the ghost of her husband underperforms in comparison to what the bio says 🙄
It would've been really cool if he was an angry ghost triggered by dates, I think a game like Sims 2 would've done that, since they cared about showing off their mechanics through the families.

Also, imagine his angry ghost being more subtle than Crumplebottom herself. Perhaps he can start appearing during dates with higher romantic levels, being more invasive than Agnes is with wrecking dates
Perhaps they didn't add special mechanics because of the corruption NPC's caused in Sims 2.

The Sims 4 one is okay, sad she doesn't have her own voice like before.
Sims 3 one has nothing special, she's just another playable sim.

@@bobblinggoblin2g2g2g2 It is implied in the game that others think she killed her husband for his money, and that she is a black widow, but that in reality she doesnt care about fortune (she even is frugal) and just wanted to have a loving family.
How did I only now just realise that she only punishes sims in love because she lost her husband… Damn now I feel bad for all those times I was mean to her in ts2 bc she stopped my sims for doing romantic interactions.

As in, some people don't know her backstory so they judge her for being rude when in reality she just lost everything she loved.
Sims 5 intro should be dedicated to her and cast from her perspective. She is that sulky persona that ironically animates the sims, a true gem.
I would say Agnes is one of the most saddest sim in sim’s history , I’ve noticed that in her house in sims 3. There’s an incomplete baby room 😢
Yeah, you think they would have made her voice a bit higher and screechier to make her sound more like Crumplebottoms from the past. . . Still, it's fun, and I like how they reference both the original Robert Crumplebottom from the Sims 1 park and Erik from her Sims 3 counterpart in the Sims 4 heart-to-hearts. Little callbacks like that are fun. :)
I love Agnes in sims 3, that’s all I play and I had my sim have a baby with her. She’s amazing

most of the time i played in sunset valley she always gets married or starts dating with christopher steel, and i feel glad for that cuz christopher is a very cool and kind sim!! but usually for some reason they don't have children, also in some occasions she just adopts a random child and becomes a single mother
The first Sims that I played was Sims3, to think about how Agnes is end up being in Sims1,Sims2 and Sims4 is ... lol

Agnes from Sims 3 and Sims 1 are his aunt. The Sims Team has said that Sims 2 Agnes is different.

Iirc, the only outsider is the one in Sims 2, they didn't make Sims 4's related to anyone but she talks about Erik and Robert, Sims 3's and Sims 1's love interests.
Agnes is a young adult in TS3, an elder in TS and dead and buried in the Goth graveyard in TS2.
it's the time for Sims 4 have a voice for old people. Make the game more fun and realistic.

Mrs. Crumplebottom is not Agnes. She is Agnes's cousin's sister in law. She could be Agatha Crumplebottom considering how the Sims are never consistent with facial features.
I think she is Beatrice, from Sims 3 Supernatural. She has Agnes' traits but she is correct, instead of romantic. In many Western countries and in the past of occidental countries romantic interactions in public such as flirting, hugging, kissing, etc are consider impolite and offensive. However I don't think hitting with a purse is polite either, so her identity its still a mystery.
Also, Beatrice is a witch so she will require gardening skill to alchemy despite human and other supernatural Sims are able to develop the alchemy skill.
I am very confused, LOL.
@@arieltales8952 the Sims producers don't care about maintaining story consistency but the fans never fail to tie up the story fragments to make it logical. One example would be the parallel reality of the Goth family in the Sims 4.

I love sims1 and sims2 version of her. She add soul to the game. You do not feel dullness like in sims4. I hope she come back with sims1 or 2 version. Not everything has to be sugar coated EA😀

I mean Sims 3 Agnes isn't that bad, Sims 3 is set in the past and its showing Agnes' life and showing why the way she is. It offers a good explanation and she has that depressed look.

Why do I feel like I know mrs crumplebottom
It didn't dawn on me that Anges from ts3 was her. I was so used to seeing her as an elderly woman wearing grey, that I thought the one in sims 3 was a random sim. Not to mention, but she was also much easier to get along with in sims 3 in my opinion.

If you mean in the Sims 4, you can totally play her. She’s in the households menu, you just need to move her in a house

It amazes me how smooth the animations are in the sims 2 truly a game ahead of its time

Yeah in TS3 I made the decedents of Horace Mandrake and had her marry one of them. I figured if “Where’s Bella” and “Murder in Pleasantview” were warnings to adjust the timeline 🤷🏻♂️
When I was a kid I adored Agnes and always made a life she deserves for her in Sims 3.
I think growing up with this character made me very compassionate towards old people that many sees as grumpy and bitter. They’re not like that without a reason and you should treat them with respect 💛
